Fantastic! Its an amazing experience to witness them up and mobile once again isn't it. Our boy Jack had wheels from Jim. His quality of life improved dramatically and he was so much happier. Jim was fantastic and so patient. We met him on several occasions before the final fitting. Jack became quite a celebrity in the local area. We never regretted having him fitted for the wheels. When Jack did pass to rainbow bridge, we donated his wheels to another family whose dog also had CDRM. I'll never forget their faces when they saw their dog whizzing around. Everybody was in floods of tears. I hope you have many many happy times together.
  4. I'm sure mum will be fine. Have a good nights sleep and you never know, you may be a foster granny in the morning. They do remarkably well with little intervention. I bet you are so excited. Please report back in the morning with any news.
  5. Saturday for us and our dog club
  6. If you need another pair of hands, just shout. We are in Oxford too.

    Lymphoma

Hi Wendy Aly's sister here. Candy, our GSD was diagnosed with malignant lymphoma. I understand how you must be feeling. Numb, shocked, scared, and wanting to know more. We went down the route of chemo for Candy. It was a rollercoaster ride so be prepared for that. Enjoy everyday and be there for him. I would spend many many hours just sitting and talking to candy. It helped us both. Be strong and take care of yourself. Jo

    Right Finish

Can somebody help me with any tips on training and perfecting a right hand finish. Myself and China have mastered the left hand finish but are struggling with a good way to teach right. My training instructor simply suggests a tit bit in hand and follow around back of legs. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  10. I thought that too when I took the picture.
  11. So proud of China today as she passed her Bronze Good Citizen test. We went along to the Wiccaweys show and they were conducting the tests throughout the day. It was really windy and I thought that the flapping tape on the fencing would have made her break her stay, but she proved me wrong and sat tight.
  12. We'll all be coming with Flo, Ella and China in tow!
  13. My dog candy was 6 when she was diagnosed with mailignant lymphoma. She did suffer from fairly severe bouts of sickness following a session of chemo. I also found it to be quite often bright yellow/orange in colour. Please look after yourself and I would like to offer any help or advice you may need now or in the future. I did find it comforting to talk to somebody else that was experiencing the roller coaster ride for themselves too. I hope Sasha continues to feel brighter. Take care Jo
  14. Myself and Ella are feeling really nervous about tomorrow. Aly says to just enjoy and its a good way for Ella to feel the competition atmosphere. Don't know about that, I just hope there are portaloos close by! Ella is a Wiccaweys dog and has been with us for a year now. She has come on in leaps and bounds and if she manages to go over the first jump without rounding me up, then that is good enough for me. Watch this space.

    Lump/hernia?

Just received a phone call from the vets. They decided to get in another vet for a second opinion. He thinks that she could have reacted to the internal stitches, even though its been about 6 weeks since her spaying op. They haven't opened her up and gave her sedation to have a good feel of the lump. She is coming home later today with antibiotics and is going back in a couple of days for another check. So pleased they didn't have to open her up again and give her a full anaesthetic. Fingers crossed that this is definately the cause and the antibiotics will clear things up. Thanks for all your kind thoughts

    Lump/hernia?

Not the news I was expecting. I think I had convinced myself that it was to do with a hernia or the healing process. Vet says that it is not a hernia and wants to open her up and take a look. I did ask if it could be anything sinister and she says that she couldn't rule anything out until she had seen what was going on inside. Life is c**p at the moment, and just when you think that is it, something else gets thrown at you. I'll post tomorrow after I know what is happening.

    Lump/hernia?

The lump is quite hard and about an 1" in diameter. I can't work out why its come up now all of a sudden when Flo has done nothing different in any way. It certainly isn't hot or red and Flo is her normal self. Have appointment with the vet later today.

    Lump/hernia?

Flo was spayed about 6 weeks ago. All went well, wound healed, stitches removed 14 days later, but all of a sudden a golf ball size lump has appeared at the wound site. She is going to the vets tomorrow to have it checked out. I've had a quick scan on the internet but all I came up with is something to do with the stitches inside coming away. Apparently this can happen in dogs who are especially active. When she had the op we followed all aftercare instructions to the letter and played 'indoor' dog games etc to keep her mind active. No runs in the field, no agility and gentle lead walks. When we were given the all clear to go back to her normal routine, we still maintained some restrictions on her exercise routine. Flo is a typical border collie who wants to be on the go but I really don't think I could have done anymore to keep her calmer during her convalescing period. Has anybody else experienced this?
  19. What great news! Well done!!!!!!!!!!!

    Flo Has A Go!

Flo stayed on for Agility this morning and she had remembered everything from last week. Today was her second attempt and it was so much better than the first. The only problem I am having, is trying to keep up with her. She wants to run on ahead of me, but due to her being on the lead, I end up pulling her back and then I come up behind puffing and panting like a steam engine! 2nd attempt at the seesaw with me holding her back. I'll keep you posted!
  21. Flo's sister Maisy left for rainbow bridge on Saturday. Just 6 months old and only a baby. You can run as fast as you can now Maisy, there is nothing to hold you back. Sending lots of love and hugs to the wonderful family that only had Maisy for such a short time. Night night sweetheart. Love Flo and Jo
  22. We'll be there with Phoebe once again. Some of you may remember Phoebe, our min dachsie who had the time of her life on our last walk. I'll bring Flo too, our totally mad, loopey and very fast border collie.
