  1. I was brought up in an age where you were supposed to be at least engaged before you had sex . I was 16 when I had my first serious relationship and way too young and felt very guilty about having sex even though I was madly in love. The next time I had a serious relaitionship I was 21 and older and wiser and enjoyed it . I'm 51 and only had 3 previous long term relationships. I met someone a few months ago and it look like it is going to be serious soon. I just want to make sure before I get involved. I think sex can be bonding and it can cement a relationship. I dont think I could have a long term sexual relationship with no emotions involved. As has ready been said, each to her or his own , as long as no one gets hurt Alison
  2. I don't think I could forgive an affair but I like think that if I could forgive, I would take care of his child. At 51 though, I dont think I would have the energy to be able care for a 3 yo. Alison
  3. Happy Birthday, Jaffa Every picture tells a story and yours is a heartwarming one. Alison
  4. Happy Gotcha Day , you're a lovely dogglet . Alison
  5. I've seen an article about this before in a newspaper and it is horrific but it did say that some of the children were upset so perhaps there is hope there that things can be changed in the future. Alison
  6. Bendy buses are a pain in the bum. I would use my local bus more if it wasn't so expensive. Ã'm not paying £3 for a mile return journey and struggle with my shopping too. He's trying to force local councils to have a trams running along the UXbridge road when the majority of people and councils dont want them. He can stick his trams where the sun don't shine. Alison
  7. Where does she live. I'll sort her! <rolling up sleeves > Alison
  8. Sheplover, I think it was you that said in a thread here someone (not a forum member ) was council trash so perhaps even today it's not your class that condemns you. Alison
  9. She is missing , possible murdered , possible being abused. I would think her parents are doing things to keep the press and public interested so she has more chance of being found. There are many bad things in this world and sadly its not possible to mention the things in your list all of the time but these subjects are brought up in the media even if they're not always fron page news. I remember the headlines in the 60s of the starving children in Biafra . I remember the Daily Mirror headlines about maria colwell who was murdered by her stepfather in the 70s and their campaign to protect children like her. Joh pilger bringing attention to the murderous Pol pot regime in Cambodia . All these things had an impact on the public and people tried to help. The press can be b*stards but they can do alot of good too. Alison
  10. I hate Red Ken . He said that pigeons are rats with wings. I hope they poop on him. Alison
  11. I'm not so sure. In what way do you think its better? I've had a lot of good and bad experiences with hospitals in my area over many years with myself and my family and I can't see a lot that's better apart from new drugs and new life saving techniques . I guess it also depends on where you live and whether you can get the available drugs or not. Despite criticsims I would still prefer to have a NHS than not have one. I appreciate the treatment I've received. Alison
  12. I didnt know that about councils being stopped building more but couldn't Labour have changed that Also we need more housing because more people are single nowadays than in the 80s. I can't see that the NHS and Education is any better now than it was under the Tories. Alison
  13. I'm sorry about your dad dying. Not all my memories were good as my mum died but my dad had a job with London Transport so though we never had much money we didn't suffer like you did . I'm sure selling off council stock has contributed to the lack of social housing today but few council housing has been built to replace the stock lost compared to swathes of private housing being built on Green belt land and farming land. Alison
  14. John Gummer feeding his kids burgers was truely awful Parkinson getting his secretary pregnant too ! but I dont think they were worse than labour, Blunkett getting a married woman pregnant , Prescott shagging his secretary Euw! Mandelson , cash for honours , Iraq dossier and Dr kelly. Alison
  15. This link shows how life changed in the Thatcher years. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_depth/4447082.stm I remember the poll tax riots and the miners strikes. I don't remember the reprossessions starting until about the early 90s. That happened I believe, because of the high interest rates and Black Wednesday http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/2259648.stm The 80s for me were good because we bought our council house Thatcher sent troops to the Falklands because it was British soil and it was invaded.1982' There was the scandal of the sinking of the Belgrano. Blair led us to believe that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and that by invading Iraq we were removing that threat and also releasing the Iraqis from the grip of a tyrant who invades countries and imprisoned people for years without trial and tortured them and I dont mean Bush. I remember c.1970 under when there strikes all the time , a 3 day week , no rubbish collected , no bread in the shops and electricity cuts when there were no street lights , and that also meant no heating or light in your house. Harold Wilson (Labour) was PM and then Ted Heath (Tory.) Alison .
  16. I would vote LibDem if I thought they'd get in. I think Teflon Tony is deluded and deluded people are dangerous so it's a good job he is going before he decides to invade Iran. Robin Cook; he acted with honour and integrity. Joke in the Mail today - Retirement means never having to say sorry. Alison
  17. Sorry you've had a frustrating time but please don't give up. About 6 months after my dog Judy died, I decided it was time to rehome another dog and it took me 4 months to find and adopt Dibby. Alison
  18. They haven't had the leadership vote yet. It's not over til the fat frog sings! I wish it were like the US where you can vote for who you want as leader. Alison
  19. Thank Dog he's going. I can barely watch him on the screen without wanting to spit He got away with everything and will make pots of money along with his greedy witch, sorry wife, and it makes me sick to my stomach Alison
  20. Thanks, I've been helping a friend who walks hyper JRx adopted last year from the Dogs trust . He's being fed Bakers meaty meal and it doesn't say on line or on the packet what the additives and preservative are. It just says EC permitted It's not his dog so the final say on his diet would be the owners. My own dog is prone to colitis so he has nature diet and JWB. Alison
  21. I suppose it depends on the dog but how long would it take to see a difference in behaviour if you change from Bakers to a non- additive diet? Alison
  22. I've found this very interesting because a friend has a hyperactive JR x that is fed Bakers Complete , he doesnt thave any skin allergies though. The Bakers was in a large bag not a box and it just had the moist brown bits and no coloured kibble. KathyM . Kim used to get Feline idiopathic cystitis and the best thing I did was not to give her any dried food at all. She is on Natures menu and I add a little water to it . Alison
  23. It depends what the subject is and how i feel at the time. If its personal stuff most people just want to get stuff off their chests so not much point in giving an opinion unless they ask for specfic advice. If its to do with animals, I'd more likely give an opinion if I felt it would benefit the animal. Alison
