  4. Hi Everyone, Gwyn is very right in saying consider an ex battery hen. Gwyn once again did us a big favour and went to get our chooks, unfortunately it only happens normally twice a year, and this day had to be my birthday, which was already organised, so Gywn came to the rescue, as she always does. Last Chance Animal rescue took thirty girls, and I took another six making my brood now ten. After slow introductions all are living very happily together, as I knew they would in time. Henrietta is from my first rescue girls, and she is the boss, Winifred is next in line, then Wilma, and darling little Flo. Still haven’t got around to naming the others, as I am waiting for them to start looking a bit different than each other, in other words some feathers. Again, I am not worrying about that, as if you could see my first girls, they look wonderful, shiny feathers, dark red, clear eyes and they were in worse condition than my new girls. The great news is that our Thirty Rescue girls have been shown lots of interest by the public, and they are wanting to rehome them, obviously all the proper home checks are done, just like our dogs and cats, because these girls are very special to us. So it is great news for the battery hen, as WE Last Chance are going to continue rescuing them, to either live within our rescue or to find new loving homes. I am over the moon to think we can help more. I will try to remember to take some pictures of my girls this weekend. Forgot to mention, are my girls friendly, too much so, they call for me, they want me to pick them up, they love to snuggle up in my hair, follow me everywhere when they are fully out in the whole garden, I work full time, so in large pen when am out. Adorable, friendly, chatty girls, I am there for hours just talking to them and watching them, keep being late for work and no one believes me. Will be continuing here on to rescue many, many more girls to come and spreading the word to everyone. I LOVE THEM Spread the word on these little darlings, all of them need our help.
  5. Dear Lucy This is Lucy, and due to unfortunate circumstances she is looking for a new home, can you offer her a life line? Please note we are going to rehome Lucy from her current home, the daughter is more than happy to receive a call from anyone who would like to know more about this wonderful old lady. Lucy will be rehomed via all of Last Chance Animal Rescue adoption procedures, details can be seen below. This is Lucy’s story and details so far. My mother died a year and a half ago and Lucy has been pushed from pillar to post around the family to be looked after by anyone who can give her a home. My sister, (who also has a lively and profoundly deaf dalmation aged 4), reluctantly agreed to take on Lucy as no one else was able to give her a home, but with the two dogs and a young family, Lucy was beginning to become neglected and left out in the garden all day to keep her out of the way and out of the house and being left on her own much of the time. Lucy is just a bit old now to be with such a lively dog around her and the constant jumping, snatching food and barking from the younger dog was making Lucy irritable. My sister asked if I’d look after Lucy as she was going on holiday a few weeks ago, then, when she returned from holiday, she just never came to pick her up stating that she had come to the end of her tether with both the dogs in the house. As I’m living in a small two up two down terraced house with just a small courtyard garden, plus working all day, am finding I can not cope with a large dog in such a tiny house. Lucy is around 11 years old, is extremely friendly, well behaved with no behavioural problems and loves attention and is brilliant with strangers. She’s happy just being around someone and being taken for long walks and would prove to be a great companion for the right person in the right environment. However, she is just not getting the walks and time spent on her that she needs. I’m not sure what to do and would be extremely grateful for any advice or help you could offer. I know Lucy is going to be hard to home because of her age and people will become a little anxious about taking her on because of the potential cost of vet’s bills if she eventually gets ill. I went to the Vets the other day with her to get her checked over, and they said she is in great shape for her age and complimented me on how she is so well behaved. I’m in a bit of a mess with this situation and dearly want Lucy to find a home that will give her the time and stimulation that she really needs. She would be a great companion for someone who can give her the time. I’m anxious that she is not put down, but am finding it stressful to know actually the best option to turn to. There is a little more information from the owner, only asking us Last Chance for HELP, so here we are trying to help this old girl. I have told the owner, that Last Chance has a total non-destruct policy, and we will do everything to try and find this girl a home, even a foster home. After speaking to the owner I have been informed that thou she is currently living with a cat, she feels it is not desirable for either of them, currently she has to keep them both separate at all times, she is not sure if Lucy would hurt her cat, more want to play, but not certain. Lucy is great with kids, but again due to her age we feel it is better either an older family or a quiet household, but loves time with grandchildren on those occasions they visit. Much more information is available, just contact Last Chance and we will pass on the details. Lucy will be up to date with her vaccinations, flea and worm treated, mirco chipped and will have six weeks free insurance with Pet Plan. I am currently waiting to find out if she has been spayed or not, if she is not, at her age this will not be a requirement, but precautions will still have to be made. www.lastchanceanimalrescue.co.uk Last Chance Animal Rescue, Registered Charity No. 1002349 if you would like to know more about me, please call us on 01732 865530 between 10 – 3, or via our web site above [email protected], or email Adrienne on [email protected] , hoping to hear from you

  14. Thanks boys and girls, we are really, really pleased, and to believe that the studio approached us, I must say they were a wonderful bunch of people working at the studio, and we had everyone support and good wishes, a brilliant, yet long day, but well worth it, really glad they didn't show it all, as you would have seen me shaking like mad, and when I gave my little speech to Duncan, well I would just hate to know how my voice soounded. Scary Thanks for all your best wishes, we can start getting cracking now on LAST CHANCE NEW ROMNEY, as we got something to start with. Thanks again

THANK YOU EVERYONE, ESPECIALLY GWYN. This to help me, hope you all understand? I am very sad, as I made myself believe that they could help her, deep down I knew she was getting worse, but it was so, so hard as she wanted to stay with us, and her will to live was so, so strong. Beauty suffered badly in her first 18 months, she was abused, beaten, tormented and lived in a one bed room house, with no gardens, left most days apparently tied up on a tree in front of the house, the other side of the pavement where people walked passed her and tormented her, and as she barked and screamed they would hit and throw things at her. I heard about her going to be put to sleep as she was classed as a nervous agressive, not surprising really. She came home with us in 1993, she was extremely hard work, very strong, no reasoning, knew no commands, showed agression to everyone and everything, apart from me and Andy. No one could come to the house, had to mussle her whilst walking her as she would lunge out at anything. She was a coiled spring ready to bounce at any opportunity, the amount of tears that I shed with that girl back in those days. I needed help, and needed it quick, I contacted the RSPCA and got the top behaviourist, he came around, was very hard on her, so she bit him good a proper, he told me she is a very strong willed dog, and he suggested that we have her pts. Contacted another behaviourist, she came around, took one look at her, then politely said, there are so many good dogs in the world, why waste time on this one. I was on my own, read everything, tried everything, walked around the pubs at night asking people to give her treats, took her to endless car boots, took her in town, to get used to people being around her. Poor Andy used to have to climb out of the sitting room window, with loads of different clothes and hats and change at the door and pretend he was a vistor. In time we worked through many of her issues, but the thing that happened was us starting to understand each other, we had truly bonded. Beauty, was a wonderful loyal girl to me, she was as obient as you could have ever wanted a dog, she knew my body lanuage, as I knew hers. She was my shadow, no one else could walk her, or feed her, she waited by door when I left, till I returned. She protected me from everyone and everything, she had no fear of anything and stayed strong till the last. Beauty took lots of hard work, I knew that she would have to leave me one day, and I knew that day would be very hard for me. I have lost a remarkable friend, if only you all knew as I did, Beauty I will always miss you, go play with all my other dear friends, keep safe and we will be back together one day. LOVE YOU
