  1. Just wanted to update everyone. We have had a lot of snow in the past 2 days and both Rhino and Charlie have loved it!! They had their coats on and played for ages in the snow. Thank you to Laura E and also to everyone on here for making this possible, 2 happy (sleepy) dogs, 2 very happy and well licked cats and 2 very happy people. Yes we have a happy household! xx
  2. I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for the letter. My son got his and was so chuffed he told everyone. It is well worth it and brought a smile to all who have seen it. Thank you again for the wonderful job you have done!!! Laura x
  3. Well here is a link to the last 2 pics of Rhino and Charlie, taken today after their walk...both in their coats Hope the link works....and Laura, I told you I keep getting booted off the sofa... http://s343.photobucket.com/albums/o465/devil_laura/?action=view&current=pooches001.jpg http://s343.photobucket.com/albums/o465/devil_laura/?action=view&current=pooches002.jpg
  4. She is definitely acting as Peace Keeper. They are playing again (what a surprise!?) and in she strolls, meows, waits till they stop then slowly strolls out again Rhino has got brave, but it was Charlie that started it all, because it was "his" ball, but I don't think they'll do it again, not with Sox on the prowl. Thanks for the sympathy, they are stinging like mad today, especially the ones on my bum and legs, struggling to sit down but in a couple of days I know they'll have almost disappeared and if it's shown them that Sox is boss and they won't fight again, I really don't mind.
  5. Laura no need to apologise but when they arrive I will let you know when everything arrives we're having problems with our post again and so I haven't had any mail again today....bloody Royal Mail Thought I would let you know, Charlie and Rhino were having a bit of a fight earlier, they started arguing over Charlie's ball, and so I waded in to break them up, then Sox decided she would join in, so there was fur flying (all Charlie's) and I'm holding Rhino's collar, shouting at Bradley's dad (as he was here visiting) to get hold of Sox when she decided to attack me...I've now got claw marks on my bum and leg and 2 fingers... but they have just been playing again, so of course they were growling at each other and she's just come marching in and meowed at them and they have stopped . She can control them!! But the 4 of them are getting on so well now it's unbelievable but so good to see
  6. woohoo great news!! The cats are both down and playing with Rhino and Charlie!!! They ventured down earlier and have both let Rhino sniff them properly and even lick them....I'm so happy it didn't take as long as I thought it would. Also, Rhino has picked up another mad thing from Charlie, when they are playing Charlie usually has a mad dash until I stop him, and today Rhino has started doing the same....I keep trying to take a photo of them as they have both started lying on their backs but still playing with each other, so as soon as I manage to get a photo I'll post it!!
  7. The good news is both the cats have been sniffed at, patted Rhino on the nose and turned their backs on him, but as I know the cats so well, it's only a matter of time till they are all playing, and sleeping, together Rhino will also be getting his claws cut at weekend, so that will be even better for me when he jumps up and uses me to stretch on....no more scratches I have to admit that this Christmas is going to be so good, especially as I know that I have 2 new dogs in the family, both who will get spoilt rotten and will enjoy it! I hope so at least Thanks Jacobean, they are fab and it's fab news for all of us, Laura E and Rhino's last owners as he has made himself a home with us, but we have to make sure we don't take him on too many 4 mile walks for a bit...even the 2 mile usual ones tires him out
  8. aww Laura are you sure?? You have done so much already....I feel guilty Also I forgot to say that unfortunately we haven't had the parcel yet....but our postman did say we were a day behind because he had been off, so it looks like it will be here on Monday....stupid Royal Mail.... Let me know please how much I owe you for everything.... Thanks for being so special to us but more importantly to the dogs xx
  9. Aww thank you Eve, I'm just struggling now to find a jumper or coat for Charlie as he is so jealous of Rhino's because of how handsome and cool he looked!! He has braved the cold nothern air, and I think the coat has done the job as it didn't seem to bother him!!! I think he was relived though that the walk wasn't as long as yesterdays
  10. http://s343.photobucket.com/albums/o465/devil_laura/?albumview=grid&newest=1 Well his coat has arrived and boy does he look so cute in it, but now Charlie wants one Sorry I couldn't get the photos to embed again but click on the link and it should take you there, the first 3 are of Rhino posing and Charlie looking for his own Roll on walk time later!!!!
  11. no sorry it didn't, but then again I haven't had any post at all today, so more than likely it will be here in the morning. Thanks for the link, I'll see if I can follow it and he is so good, just fast asleep again now don't think he was expecting such a long walk.... Thanks again for everything and as soon as the jumper arrives I'll text you
  12. Oh Laura, for that yes he does but for all round entertainment, good looks and a sexy body it has to be Gino D'Acampo....phwoar!!!!
  13. Tonight has been the first proper long walk since we were lucky enough to get Rhino and for the first mile Charlie whinged....it wasn't til we carried on but it was because Rhino was in front I think we managed about 4 miles and by the time we got back Rhino was tired and his little heart was beating, but Charlie, being Charlie decided he wanted to play with his ball so now they are both flat out on the same settee and here's hoping they sleep all night instead of wanting to play Laura I need to suss out this harness....until now I've used his lead, but tonight (as it was a long walk) I put his harness on....or should I say I tried luckily I have a friend who will come round tomorrow and show me (told you the weather was freezing my brain ) Just hope that his coat turns up tomorrow, he really is struggling to cope with the cold, although he seems to be getting better and not shivering quite as much, plus i want to see how cool he looks in it xx
  14. Rhino has now discovered the "health" benefits of eating cat poo and litter . Why do some dogs do this?? Sadie one of my last dogs used to eat it a lot, Charlie does and now Rhino....I only know as he had taken a lot to his bed... YUK!!!! At least the cats are now coming round, Sophie (the kitten) has been down today and Rhino actually sniffed her before she went back upstairs. Also, I ordered tags for Rhino and Charlie (I thought Charlie could have a new one anyway) and they look so good, Rhino was quite pleased as I was putting his on Anyway, I'm still waiting for his coat to come, so watch this space for more pics when it does eventually arrive!!! Laura x
  15. yeah I'm just so glad I have an old fashioned TV and not an LCD as it would have been off the unit a few times and the noise....peace and quiet?? what's that?? But to be honest I am not bothered, I'm just so glad they get on!!
  16. Well I promised picture updates and here are 3 taken today of them....although they are now playing so well they get a little carried away and forget themselves On the whole they are great together, playing most of the day unless they go for a walk and then it's as if they don't know each other. The cats have ventured downstairs a couple of times, mainly to eat, drink and use the litter tray and seem to be getting braver about it all, so hopefully they won't take much longer to accept Rhino completely. http://s343.photobucket.com/albums/o465/devil_laura/?albumview=grid sorry it won't let me embed the pics...and I can't remember what I did last time sorry I'm thick today, it's the cold weather frozen my brain....-8 last night and again tonight, hope Rhino can cope
  17. No they haven't, they are still hiding, Sophie (the kitten) is hiding more so, which really surprises me, although Sox has been down, eaten etc and went back up. Rhino had a sniff and as she turned her back on him he came back in here and up on the sofa. I keep trying to get a picture of Charlie and Rhino playing but all I end up with is a blur I will keep trying though and I agree I'm certain he'll look so cute in his coat, so just hope it gets here soon, as it is such a shame seeing him shivering like he does.... x
  18. I hope she comes home soon and in the meantime I am a reiki practitioner and use this a lot for my animals so I shall send some healing out to her and hopefully guide her home
  19. I promise I will post more pics when his coat comes, got to have him posing in it and also if I get chance, of the 2 of them playing together. Thanks for everyone's support, it's great to know that there is support out there and help...what a great place is The Refuge!!! Laura x
  20. Well everyone, especially Laura I thought I'd give you all the latest update. It's official, he is a softie Took him out for a walk this morning and he stood there shivering, so I have had to buy a 3-in-1 coat for him because due to the cold up here he'll probably need a sweatshirt/jumper for in the house but the one I have ordered is cool . Once it comes I'll take some more pics and post them. Charlie and Rhino have definitely settled in together, when they aren't playing together they are snuggling up on the sofa (which is where they are right now). So, watch this space (as they say) for more updates and eventually for more pics... Thank you to everyone on here though for making this possible!! especially Laura E. Laura x
  21. Huge Thank you to Laura_E for bringing us Rhino, he is perfect!!

  22. Thanks Laura for bringing him up and thank you Glenn for driving all that way. I did send you a photo of him fast asleep....hope you got it ok? Charlie has been licking him and even gave him a kiss so he's definitely accepted him! I promise I will keep you updated on his progress and will send you photos and any news if there is any, just so you can have your mind put to rest. Thank you again for bringing him he really is a gorgeous boy!!! Laura x

    Hello

Thank you to everyone for the welcome! I'm so glad I found such a friendly, wonderful site!
  24. Hi everyone I am a new member in Lancashire and absolutely mad on animals, but unfortunately this year I have lost 2 dogs through serious illness and old age (one had chronic kidney failure and the other was 18). Since then I have given a new home to a mad collie/jack russell x who definitely keeps myself, my 4 year old son and our 2 cats on our toes, but he doesn't quite fill the gap left from 2 dogs to 1.... I was told about this site from a friend who volunteers for our local RSPCA and am so glad I was! Thank you for accepting me and I hope I can do more good work to help these poor animals who need good new homes! Laura x
  25. Hi I would be so interested in Penny if she is still looking for a new home and you are in the North West? Thanks Laura
