  1. Its Kingsmead Park/Tattenhoe Park-the council have kindly built roads, footpaths, bridges & redways but no houses have appeared yet so lots of offlead opportunities Tuesday is a good day for me, hubbys off out for the day so I'm free between 11am & 2pm if thats any good to you? We could meet up "on location" & I'll show you my big puddle-hope Noah is amphibious too
  2. The big dog is Kanu my GSD X, he's 10 & suffered from stiff back legs til I started him on glucosamine & chondroitin-he hasn't stopped frolicking since Seeing their sheer joy is what its all about for me
  3. It was misty this morning & they spotted it before I did............................ Result-5 very wet dogs
  4. I don't know you but my heart goes out to you, he looks like such a lovely boy Sending lots of positive thoughts & healing energy to you and your precious Max. Julie
  5. I do have some properties in MK Sam, please feel free to pass on my details to anyone who you know if you think I can help. Pm me for my numbers etc when you need them. I think it is a regional thing to a certain extent. I have just moved back to Milton Keynes after 3 years in Devon & in the west country so many more people own dogs & its generally a lot more dog friendly. I advertised a house recently in Devon & was inundated with dog owners all telling me they were having no luck finding landlords who would take dogs. In the end I let it to a lovely man with 2 huuuuge rescue crossbreeds-lab with a touch of great dane I reckon . He was over the moon & so was I coz the dogs are sooo bootiful Someone on another forum suggested that somebody should set up an online database type thing where people can look for dog friendly landlords-I think thats a fab idea. Does anyone know how to do such a thing or know anyone who does? Or does such a thing already exist? Julie
  6. Many years ago I lost my home & had to move into a rented house. At the time I had 3 dogs. I couldn't find a landlord who would take dogs so I had to rehome them all & it broke my heart-far more than losing my home did . Things improved after a while & I had my own home again , it took a long time for me to feel able to get another dog as the pain of losing the others was so great. Anyway, to cut a long story short I ended up in the property business & became a landlord ! I swore from the start that I would NEVER put anyone through what I had been through & have always had a dog friendly policy. Sadly I am in the minority & with the rising amount of people losing their homes I imagine the situation I was in all those years ago is a common one at the moment . The point of this post is that many of you are likely to come across stories like mine & if there is anything I can do to help I would feel honoured to do so. I would be happy to speak to landlords if anyone is facing the same situation I did & tell them about my positive experiences of letting to dog owners & also to advise them on how to successfully let to doggy households. I believe that a lot of landlords have a blanket policy concerning pets out of ignorance & misinformation & the letting agents are no better. Sometimes just hearing someone elses experiences can make a difference. Dogs Trust are starting a "Lets with Pets" campaign next year & I have provided them with a quote to use in their literature. I know I'm just one person & it will take a lot more than just me to change things but if I can save just one person-not to mention the dogs-going through the pain & distress I did it would make me very happy Please pm me if you think I can help in any way. Julie
  7. My little lot in the car waiting to be taken for walkies
  8. Aah thats so beautiful Thank you for sharing it
  9. I took Sox to his foster home & he was an absolute darling He jumped in the back of the car without being asked & settled himself down on his blanket & I didn't hear a peep from him throughout the journey. When we arrived he sat patiently while I opened the boot & only jumped out when invited to do so. Despite being obviously terrified he was a complete gentleman. He perked up no end when he went in the house & I swear as I left he smiled at me Whoever gives Sox a home will be very lucky indeed
  10. Ditto what everyone else has said, I helped transport him on Sunday & he really touched me, he was so obviously frail yet managed a little tail wag & a sniff of the bushes when he had a little walk & he enjoyed a gentle stroke. Loving healing thoughts to you Little Sid
  11. Ooh I know they're worse than the OH, Louis is always flicking through the channels watching the doggy programs-he particularly likes "Its me or the dog"
  12. Umm on the floor with a lardy lab on my lap
  13. Question-How many terriers can you fit on a chair? Answer-Three, if they all lie in a circle
  14. Can I borrow your Dad for my GSD X please? He has a fatty lump (confirmed by a needle aspiration) but I would love to get rid of it (non surgically) so it doesn't grow & cause probs later. Methinks your dad could have a new career here Julie
  15. Thanks so much for all your replies I feel encouraged by all your positive thoughts and advice and will be giving it lots of thought. I did wonder about Oldies Club Cher, seeing as though I'm driving around with their posters stuck in my car windows . I will be asking my vet about the health issues you mentioned Jacqui, my other boys are neutered but that was done to prevent unwanted behaviour rather than on health grounds. Jo its good to know that you successfully fostered with entire males in the house, I will have a look & see where my nearest rescues are. I've pm'd you Sam for that info on the MK vet, I've had a fantastic vet in Devon for the last 3 years & although I have registered with a vet here it would be good to get a personal recommendation. Julie
  16. Hi Sam, I'm not a photographer so can't give a professional view but I think your photos are fab I particularly like pic 929-that would look stunning enlarged on a canvas. Love the elephants too Julie
  17. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this topic so apologies in advance if its not I am interested in fostering dogs but don't quite know where to start & I don't know if my home would be considered suitable so I would be interested to hear peoples ideas, policies or info on this. The only reason I'm not sure if we would be acceptable is that one of my 5 dogs isn't neutered-no particular reason for this he just isn't. We asked our vet for advice on this & his opinion was that if he isn't being aggressive, trying to dominate the other dogs in the pack or doing antisocial things with peoples legs etc then there is no reason to castrate him-he'a Yorkie btw, aged 2. We have 5 dogs, 3 boys & 2 girls, aged between 18 months (staffy X) & 10 years (GSD X), they are all neutered, apart from Fluff. and are chipped, vaccinated, wormed & flead & all in good health. I work form home so am about most of the time, my dogs have the run of the house, are exercised to the point where everyone who sees my JRT comments on how muscly he is and they are well socialised. Our children are 8 & 10 and have lived with dogs all their lives. Would we be able to foster? I would be interested to hear your views and if anyone would like to consider us I would be more than happy to answer more questions, have a home check etc. Please pm me if you want any more info though I think I have probably gone on a bit too much already
  18. Fantastic-I'll be putting some of these up in Milton Keynes
