  1. Do it really slowly. Start by showing her the headcollar, click and treat, touching her face with it, c&T, then build up to showing her the treat through the headollar, etc, until she has to reach through the headcollar to get a high value treat, until you leave it resting on her nose/face for longer periods of a few seconds, build it up, then finally do the headcollar up. She should learn to associate the headcollar with nice things, playtime whilst wearing it around the house etc. Then do the same with the lead going onto it. Use a light lead - the double ended ones designed for smaller dogs are great as they are strong but lighter so don't drag the head down.
  2. I think I've tried every headcollar invented and a few prototypes besides The canny collar is very good. The only problem I have with it is that Purdie has learned that if she slackens the lead and drops her nose, it falls off and ends up as just a big collar around her neck. It is very good generally though, one of the best I've tried. I'm going to get a new one from somewhere in Canada when I can find out the name of it, I tried it on Purdie and it was a fantastic fit on her, another one which does up behind the head, I find these the best type as the dog isn't being pulled to one side like with those that the lead joins to under the chin.
  3. Glad he's feeling better
  4. Aren't there millions? Isn't that the whole section with all the breeds of dog? We'll come and say hello Bonniebird if you let us know where Sparkle you're very welcome to join me, Andrea (safneo), Rosie(andBailey) and Beth/Bert/Beff (Owlish) Be lovely to meet you.
  5. Mine came today too, what's the DD stand?
  6. Erwine I hope you were finally able to understand human love and affection before your journey
  7. Interesting stuff Jo. I had Purdie over 3 years ago and it wasn't until the August that I started to see behaviour that I as a novice owner could define as aggressive. She was walked for 2 hours a day and was socialised off lead with other dogs for the majority of that time. Looking back, I can see that she was certainly assertive and rude with other dogs, but to begin with I am certain this was her learning how to play properly. I do think had she met the right dogs, her behaviour could ahve been modified - problem was she learned early on that she could kick butt Interesting about play gone wrong - I think there could be some truth in that...
  8. Funny you've just posted an update, not been on here for ages but popped on this evening after reading a couple of articles in the WSPCA mag that made me think of Dogstar... That kind of publicity I reckon could do wonders, fingers crossed they do an article on you Will see what can be rustled up re: wormers and frontline/stronghold.

Actually this reminds me, I did a similar thing to Cycas and bought posh oil but apparently my jalopy wouldn't like it, so i have a bottle of Castrol Edge oW-30 if that's any good to anyone?

    Car And Oil

You should use the same grade as is already in. Or something.
  21. I'd like to try some more H2M moves and learn how to teach them and I thought a DVD would be a good place to start, if there is such a thing, I'm sure I've heard there are. Does anyone have a particular one they could recommend me? Thanks!
  22. That sounds horrible, poor lamb Have you tried ringing NHS direct?
  23. I couldn't scrape a lot of it off, some came off really easily, some I couldn't shift, so I sanded the edges of the patches I removed and have sealed it with PVA/water mix, and also the other sections on the other walls that have paint missing, so will leave it to dry overnight. I have found something that helps though - Pinot Grigio It was and we will
