  1. Thank you, I'll bear that in mind if we do have to resort to trying Amazon's food services. Just reading what you said about Tik Tok. I hadn't heard of it until a few days ago, it seems odd for something new to have such an old fashioned stance on LGBTQ. The only uploading of video I've ever done is to put a steam train going though the local station onto Twitter!
  2. How exciting about your new foster Yantan. I've just had a lightbulb moment - a couple of weeks ago I looked at using Amazon for food deliveries and they had tick boxes for Morrisons range and for Booths. Booths sounded really familiar and I couldn't place why .......I've just realised that it was you who mentioned the name! I guess they are a local supermarket to you?
  3. How horrid Owl, the world is a sad enough place at the moment without that sort of thing. Fingers crossed for Ruby's test Yantan. I had the same test, they made a point of telling me how very expensive it was!
  4. Hope that Ruby's appointment goes well, I imagine the fluid is uncomfortable. Will she need further treatment?
  5. Fantastic story Yantan and fascinating job your mum did too Owl. My grandfather was a train driver around London during the war and as I child I was faintly disappointed that he wasn't a soldier. It's only in recent years that I've seen more about the perils of driving a train - how visable the steam engines were in the dark to bombers and how they couldn't see where the track ahead had been bombed until it was too late and the engine was off the rails.
  6. My goodness, it doesn't bear thinking about does it? Sort of funny but awful at the same time. I bet that has stuck in many peoples memories for a long time! I watched a program last year about the police force in either Belgium or the Netherlands who have a special division to go out and deal with WW1 ordnance still being ploughed up the fields now. The farmers pile everything up in a special area and it gets taken away and blown up.
  7. Thanks for the middle wife story, that made me smile! Let's hear the grenade story Owl - the curator of my local museum often talks about someone donating a grenade to the museums collection. It turned out to be live!
  8. That's very topical Owl, OH and I were talking about how they had kitted out the Nightingale Hospital so quickly and efficiently when it was shown on the news this morning. Well done to your neighbour from us too!
  9. Hope you are having an early night Owl, last night sounds a total nightmare!
  10. Glad to hear that Ruby is home. Good going on the weight loss Owl. I've had to make a conscious decision to stop comfort eating chocolate!
  11. Oh OK that makes sense.
  12. Pleased to hear that all went well for Ruby. Is she back home today?
  13. Goodness not much warning there! But also not too much time to get nervous about it either, which can't be a bad thing. Tell Ruby that I hope all goes well x
  14. It's thought that the incubation period is an average of 5 days, so you ought to be OK today.
  15. That's good to hear the surgeon is determined. I'm a big fan of the breast care nurse service, it really helps to have someone who understands both the technicalities and emotions on the end of the phone. My neighbour has lung cancer and there isn't the same sort of support. She can call Macmillan but it's not the same as having someone who knows you and how your local hospital works.
  16. I only use Facebook for keeping track of a couple of rescues, the local museum and a shop in Kendal which sells kits for sewing rabbits! I don't use my own name as I have a trouble-making brother who has moved to the same town with the same unusual surname. Some people are so rude and so forthcoming with their unpalatable views it puts me off following any of the other local groups, which is a pity. Fingers crossed for your cough going asap! I'm doing OK thanks, just had clear annual mammogram results which is good but due at the hospital next week for a follow up infusion. Waiting to hear if that will be cancelled. Good news Jazz. Not so many flights running at the moment though. My pregnant friend (another Jazz funnily enough) is now organised to be working from home from tomorrow, I'm glad her employers have been sensible.
  17. Apologies, I forgot to ask how you are doing Yantan? Are you feeling any better?
  18. I like to discuss things but I think a lot of people have lost the art of talking nicely about a subject! I'm having a bit of problem with people who believe any virus related rumour they hear or read about in the paper. I've lost count of the times I've said can you show me the facts/science behind that. Good thoughts for Ruby's pre-op, I imagine the hospital will do their very best to get the op done. Good thoughts too for Suzeanna's daughter. I have a friend who is expecting twins and was suprised by the sudden guidance yesterday for pregnant women to be avoiding social contact. She can do her job from home fortunately but her employer is being a bit less than helpful in sorting it out. Worrying times.
  19. Very sorry to hear that. I hope that she will be allocated a breast care nurse, they are a great support. I would suggest that she doesn't keep googling for more information at this point - her treatment will be tailored to her and her condition and it's not helpful to read other opinions. Sending Ruby good wishes xx
  20. I hope it's a false alarm too, but good thoughts for Cliffy and hugs for you too Nige.
  21. Did you see Venus too? Really bright in the early evening sky at the moment. Our local RSPB group have sent out a link to a camera in a local barn owl nest box. We looked several times during the day to see them sitting in exactly the same place, sound asleep and of course missed the point where they woke up and went out hunting! How special to see 4 in one evening Owl. Link in case anyone has a few minutes to waste during the day time Tices Meadow barn owl camera
  22. Hello Phebe xx Hope you are well. I've enjoyed reading your adventures on the reserve, I wish we had something similar locally so I could line up a volunteering job for OH when he retires. I think the C3 Aircross is the equivalent of my old C3 Picasso which I chose as it had no lip to the boot, so easy for wobbly Rosie to get in and out of. I suspect I might end up with an Aircross next or a Honda Jazz. I'd really like a Mini but they are not practical for getting elderly parents and dog in/out!
  23. Fingers crossed for Ruby's results on Monday. Did she go for a C3 in the end? I've had a C3 Picasso for quite a few years and have just started looking at replacing it. I really like the burnt orange colour too.

I know I don't post much nowadays, but I justed want to say to Yantan and Ruby how sad I am to hear about Tye. You did a fabulous thing in opening your hearts and home to a dog in need and I'm really sorry you didn't get longer together.
  25. Griff I'm sorry to hear you are such a difficult situation. In addition to Owl's wise words above, I can recommend your local Citizens Advice. You can probably find out their opening hours online (might be open on Monday if you are lucky) and they can help you access the council's housing process.
