  1. Jac HATES having his nails clipped. Last time the vet had two people holding him down and you could hear him screaming from the waiting room 🙄 Just spoke to the rescue I got Lily from and apparently I have no choice but to wait until after first season and I have to take her back to them so they can go through their vets. That means she's going to have two have two separate operations as my vet recommended taking her dew claws off as well. I was willing to save the rescue the cost of paying for the spay but have to go with what they want. I don't have an issue per se but wish they would at least let me have the discussion with their vet because each dog is different.
  2. Been to the vets with Lil, who was delighted with all the attention Vet said that, whilst there are some circumstances where they might recommend spaying after the first season, in Lil's case there's no reason why it can't be done before. She suggested 5 months onwards so Lil's booked in for 4th November. We went into the Vets' shop and ended up buying even more toys, although not everything that Lil pulled off the shelves as we made our way round They both got some treats as well. I really wasn't sure Jac would take to her initially, but they're like a little happy team now . Jac still has his moments with her as she's still pushing his boundaries, but I think he luffs her a little bit Hope you feel better soon Maz
  3. Rained all morning so far I had about two and a half hours' sleep last night. I rarely sleep more than 5 but sometimes, when I've got stuff on my mind, I wake up and then can't get back to sleep. Came downstairs and managed to get another hour but have decided to work from home today. The pups were playing at 4am 😵 but are both fast asleep, while I'm feeling a bit haggard.
  4. I reckoned this was the last time I'd be young enough to get a youngster, although I didn't reckon on one quite so ickle.
  5. She is a little sod. The side table is now a launch pad onto the back of the sofa, every bit of plastic or card in sight gets chewed and she's already trying to get on the sideboard. Oh and she's started trying to eat her poo
  6. Marion I reconciled with my dad a few years ago. Only to the point where we have the occasional coffee together. Last time I saw him he told me that his wife said she wont tell me when he dies. I told him I thought that was disgusting. Even though we're not close, I'd still like to go to the funeral, although don't think I'll bother even if I do know.
  7. Lily's not allowed in the hallway until she's house trained, so I closed the living room door while I was cooking tea. Next thing I know she's climbing through the hole in the back door where the cat flap used to be before Taffy pulled it off with his big head 🤣
  8. Hi suzeanna 🙂 Thanks for the advice. I'm minded to have her done before her first season but it's all a bit mind boggling
  9. I've only had one bitch previously and Milly was spayed at around six months old, before her first season. The rescue I got Lily from said their vet advised spaying after the first season. There's so much conflicting information about and even vets' opinions vary. Any thoughts/experiences please? I obviously have Jac, who we are fairly certain has been neutered, but can't be 100%, so they would need to be separated if she came into season. When I got Jac the rescue originally said that they weren't sure whether he had been neutered or whether his testes were retained. Then they checked again with the rescue that passed him on and they said that he had been castrated. To be on the safe side, when he was having double dew claws removed from his back legs, the vet scanned him to see if they could see any 'lumps' inside him. Vet didn't find any but said this didn't mean 100% that they weren't there and the only way to be certain was to open him up for an exploratory operation, which I declined. It's fun having baby dogs
  10. Hi Owl, glad to hear you're keeping busy 👍 and sorry to hear about Polly.
  11. Not sure where I'm going to leave the mutts yet. My friend at work has offered to look after Jac but they haven't had a dog before so I wouldn't be comfortable as they have a 4 year old and he does mouth sometimes. There is a dog hotel which has been recommended to me so may try that.
  12. My preference for collies hasn't changed Thought I might try a different breed this time, but I keep getting drawn back to the collie types 😍
  13. Here she is 😍 Her mum's a border collie. She was born in rescue, got rehomed, returned and then rehomed to me. Don't know what her dad is, but suspect some sort of lurchery type. Marion I'm sorry to hear about Archie 🙁 Not really been up to anything exciting, same old, same old. Now that Taffy's gone I am planning to go to New Zealand for Christmas 2020, so will start planning that soon. I always promised my cousin I'd go visit her once the oldies were no longer with me. Hi Griff and Eve 😊

  15. Hi all, not been on here for yonks. Hope you're all well. I've not had a great year so far, having lost Beau (16), Timmy (15) and yesterday Taffy at the ripe old age of 17, as well as my 21 year old cat, Kinky, all since January 😪 I do have two youngsters now - 14 month old Jac, who I adopted in April and 4 month old 😮 Lily, adopted a couple of weeks ago as a playmate for Jac. It's been a real shock having youngsters running about the place, but does me good to be able to go on long walks again. Jac ...
  16. Moaning. Lovely sunny day here. I'm off to look at curtains.
  17. Evening Griff I'm sorry to hear about your friend's fella
  18. Morning Hope everybody's okay Lily left me yesterday Sleep tight my angel
  19. Moaning all Not been on for a bit so hope everyone is okay. Could do with some sensible advice off you lot. I've been invited to Twickers to watch England v Scotland in the six nations. Now the trouble is that it's with some of our directors (and apparently I've been chosen cos I'm a 'high flyer' - obviously a case of mistaken identify ). Do I go or do I politely decline? I love rugby but it's a right old faff getting there and I can't trust me not to make a total pratt of myself
  20. Merry Christmas everyone suzeanna that's absolutely awful Thoughts are with her and everyone else who's not having a good christmas. I'm at home on my own as usual, which is the way I like it. Dogs are much better company than humans I've treated myself to a new camera today. I was going to order it beforehand so that I could open it on Christmas day (not I wasn't going to wrap it ) but am glad I didn't. Panasonic were offering £100 cashback on it. Today they are offering £200 cashback I also get an 8% discount at Currys, so I have saved over £240 (although will have to apply for the cashback via the Panasonic site).
  21. Moaning No work for me until 3rd January, lovely. I hope everyone has a lovely christmas and lots of hugs for poorly people and animals
  22. Moaning suzeanna I'm sorry the news wasn't better positive thoughts for Archie I can't wait for the Christmas break
  23. Evening Off work tomorrow so am having a nice long weekend Kids are all fine and I'm just getting ready for Chrimbo buying lots of pressies for the dogs (and myself lol).
  24. Afternoon. Not been around for a while so apologies if I've missed anything Poor Taz - I'd also have gone nuts and would be posting a review on her FB page if she had one.
  25. Well I'm off to the garage to pick up some calor gas for the heater. Will have to have a spit and polish tomorrow morning rather than a shower. Should be fun (NOT).
