  1. Be wary of stopping your DD - you lose your DD discount.
  2. I just had a *doh* moment. Are the Crags craggy? My wonky knee doesn't do hills or lumpy terrain very well
  3. You is doing good Energy companies tend to hang on to overpayments till the winter is over, in case you go on a heating frenzy. If you really really really want it back they might refund it if you ask - you can get Atlantic on 0845 073 3030.
  4. Fantastic post and I'm so pleased to see 'that' topic mentioned as many newbies may have missed it. That post changed my life, too. Again, no physical abuse but I was very depressed, walking on eggshells, tired of always being in the wrong, always never doing enough, my every move being scrutinised and judged. If anyone out there is having doubts about where their relationship is at, PLEASE go and read that post. It gave me the confidence to walk away from a 30+ year relationship that made me a shadow of myself. to Jules and more to Ruth & Les.
  5. Energy companies can't know about disabilities (or being pensioners!) unless they are told. If you want to PM me with the company you are with I'll send you contact details. If they are not currently offering a social tariff (BGs list gets full) then you can always move to one that is.
  6. I'm sure I could make this coincide with a visit ooop North.
  7. Bad day yesterday due to a family meal out and one veggie 'choice' which was cheese, mushroom and spinach crepes in cheesy sauce. But I'm following Slimming World green plan properly from today so hopefully the weight loss will increase. Well done to everyone losing
  8. From your fellow geek.... sorry the chemist..... It took him over a day to come up with that So it looks like we all need to go out and buy Provences. Kiri - if you can find out the energy company I can see what they offer.
  9. I saw a tree covered in blossom today I've been out for a lovely meal with my family at The Thatch in Thame (it was on The Restaurant TV prog apparently but I never watched it). Great food, all meat is free range and ethically sourced and they only buy seasonal veggies to avoid flying things in. We were impressed. Then I came home, picked up the dogbots and decided to try a new walk. Hoooooge mistake; it was so muddy I came back with platform walking boots and the dogs had lumpy feet Yesterday I was industrious. I worked in the morning, went to Asda, got stuck in rugby/football traffic. Then I cleaned the lounge, kitchen, my bedroom and the hall. And cleaned out the fire and built a new one. And did some ironing and 3 lots of dog bedding
  10. Morning Whizzed back through the last few posts and saw Melfs dilemma - it is indeed Fee4 who works in mental health. Mist used to, too (you'll only find her hanging out in the horsey thread) - might be worth PMing them both? Off to Thame in a bit for my Mums birthday meal. I need to find a diddy present (shes already had flowers) and a card before I go. I hope Sainsburys or Homebase are full of inspiration
  11. Hope you're having a great day
  12. Gawd I've really not kept up so can I offer those who need them one or more of these?
  13. I was going to make the same offer but I'm an hour away and Melp is 10 minutes away
  14. Energy companies are all supposed to offer what is known as a 'Social Tariff'. But they interpret it in different ways and what they offer varies from company to company. Generally they are only available to pensioners or those on a disability benefit. Can you give me an idea what energy company the person is, their age and if they are Registered Disabled? PM if you'd prefer. Then I can do some mooching about. Victoria, no reply from Matt yet, I'll post it when he gets around to it.
  15. Everyone here seems to be Tom Tom fans. The OH and I both have Garmins and both love them (I have his old one). Garmin do the GPS onboard aircraft so that's good enough for me
  16. Dunno if it's water or vapour, the scientist is offline My brother has a humidifier cos he has 12 basses, including a few antique ones, and they shouldn't be allowed to dry out. Apparently. My only experience of Calor was in a caravan we had when we were having our kitchen rebuilt due to subsidence - it was winter and the walls in that caravan were covered in mould after about three months. I'm sure it suits some people, I'm just not sure I'd opt for it. _______________________________________________________ The above was posted between calls - I bow to your geekery and will run it by Himself in a bit (when he emerges from his pit with a hangover, no doubt.)
  17. We had some success at White Lodge with Vitamin E supplements.
  18. I thiiiiiiiiiiiiink (the chemist isn't here today ) for every litre burnt it puts out a litre of condensation. I'll ask him later if I remember.
  19. Morning Work on a Saturday. Pure sadism Alex, what the heck are you doing up?! Go back to bed, woman.
  20. I showed that heater to Matt (who's a chemist and knows about gasses n stuff) and he says it's impossible for an LPG to burn without giving out liquid and the amount of liquid can't be reduced. If it had a condenser (where it collected spent liquid and you emptied a collection tray) then maybe that's how they'd get round it, but there is nothing in the Provence literature to say it has a condenser OR that it doesn't cause damp. So, unless they've missed something from their website, it's just not possible it doesn't cause damp. I'm not sure where Viv got the info from.
  21. If you're peed off with frequent cold callers and you would get enough neighbourhood support, you might be able to set up a 'No Cold Calling Zone' in your area with the support of Trading Standards. Examples are here: http://www.westsussex.gov.uk/ccm/content/t...llers.en?page=5 http://www.norfolk.gov.uk/consumption/idcp...cName=NCC049927
  22. They're not. Doorstep selling/collecting is not illegal (we get loads of complaints about it!). Might be worth telling St Mungos how you feel, although they must find it profitable if they are doing it. RMF: 45 minutes to go but I wanna go home nooooow
  23. Calor gas heaters are cheap to run but they do give out a LOT of moisture. As your house is fairly old it might make it a bit damp. Personally I'd go for halogen cos the benefits are instant
  24. It's probably one of those internet urban myths.... although why you'd want to take credit for being a plonker is beyond me I forgot these earlier for Cheryl & Cheryl
