  1. I would love a field, and £150 is a great deal
  2. WTG Bopp, hope someone took a photo of him??
  3. at least its not just us with farriers, we had to ring ours on saturday - why arent you here - I am not supposed to be there, I am coming the day before the show - it is the day before the show - OK, I will get round then
  4. just say if you get bored with spotty pics Here is Sally who is the yearling we took, she is such a babe, she has such a fab temperament and this is son of Nookie who won his gelding class so we were all really chuffed (see what I mean about the judges eye for colour)
  5. poor Barney, hoping his exams show nothing sinister. Lular, your horses are stunning. Hoping Wanda picks up and stops worrying her mum Well, the show went really well. We got a 3rd in the stallion class, and I know thats because Nookie was a bit sore on his feet as the farrier did his hooves last week and they were quite short so didnt move as well as he could, and also the judge spotted a bit of mud fever on his back legs, we had only brought him on from the mares on saturday so we were pleased - the winner was stunning and was obviously shown alot, Nookie hasnt been shown for about 5 years. Also I showed our little coloured yearling, Mustang Sally. She was great and got a 4th in the yearling class, but had a lovely day out and seemed to enjoy herself. The judge wasnt looking for as much colour as we had on offer (his winning stallion was pure white) so we were happy.
  6. Eeek, need some advice, just been asked to show one of the Apps in hand at the Scottish App show on sunday, not shown in hand before so what should I wear?? do I need to wear a tie, bowler etc, or is it a black riding hat, jodhs or trousers???? help
  7. great pics, you are right, Kennedy is stunning and I love Roberta's blaze
  8. hummmppfff - going blue Anne, hurry up (thats supposed to be a holding breath noise )
  9. Kennedy is a lovely name (its my surname ) any pics of him, he sounds gorgeous. at other horses thinking your friends horse is a cow Farrier showed up last night, said Pea should be fine for his vetting, will see on Sunday if he is OK to lunge as I didnt want to work him with such a bad crack
  10. bloody farrier didnt show up - they are so in demand up here that they can just turn down work, we had 5 horses for him to do
  11. blooming heck, Peacemaker has only gone and taken a huge chunk out of his hoof - they are all unshod but this summer has played havoc with hooves, anyone else had problems? so Pea managed to crack his and then take a chunk out of it. farrier coming today to do him and the mares, he is supposed to be being vetted for sale but his hoof might unbalance him for his trot up so we will need to wait and see what the farrier says - he is getting his stallion licensing done at the same time so needs a grade 5 vetting. Glad Bronnie isnt in foal, must have been a weight off your mind Al.
  12. on the subject of bits - Peacemaker loves to have stuff in his mouth, if you give him a second he is chewing lead ropes, lunge lines - if it can go in his mouth he grabs it. Anyway he often tries to catch the reins when riding and plays alot with the simple snaffle I ride him in. Someone suggested getting him a bit he could play with more, either something softer so he can chew on it, something he can play with, or even the copper style ones? shall we just leave him to play with the snaffle which isnt a big problem but does distract him, or try something else? He is only 4 and just being schooled for the first time
  13. think you know the answer to that question will check out horsemart
  14. those are lovely pics Clare. Al, hoping Bronnie is not in foal, she's just a baby herself. Pendlewitch, glad the nose bleeds are nothing serious Was riding again yesterday, so a little stiff but its so great being back in the saddle, I had missed it so much and now I want to be at the stables everyday, but the 50 mile round trip doesnt help. Anyway, just on to ask you guys, if you were looking to buy a horse, where would you start looking? We have the Appy's that are for sale on the Appy websites etc? I was riding the 4 year old stallion that we have just sold so I only get to ride him for another week or so and then he is going to his new home, but the other stallion on the stud is also broken so I can ride him once Peacemaker is gone
  15. Spot fest for you guys, some of the babes I have been playing with This is It's Red Neck, the last of the foals born this year, he is lush, and has gorgeous long legs This is It's Peacemaker who I have been working with, he is so good but we have just sold him - I have been building a website for the stud and of course everyone fell in love with him and someone came to buy him yesterday and finally one of the yearlings, It's Mustang Sally who is off to a show at the weekend in a highly coloured class, reckon she has a good chance Loving being back with horses after a break and now that I have gained the trust of the owner by building the website I get to spend loads of time with them
  16. thats fantastic, you must be really delighted
  17. its good for them to have a day not being walked, what happened if you were really ill or something happened, if they get into a set routine then they always expect it, there are the odd days, very rare, when I dont walk mine and they are fine, they cope. I left them for a weekend recently with a dog sitter coming in, no walks as I didnt want someone worrying, and they were quite happy - they didnt hate me
  18. Oh I am so sorry to read this Wendy, Pops knew how much she was loved and thats all a dog can ask for at the end Run free Poppy and hugs Wendy
  19. I do gundog training and agility, you can only really work a gundog during the winter so the summer is ideal agility time
  20. Are you going to Pods? we have got a weekend with Peter and Delia at the end of august and we had awful weather last year so this year the sun is going to shine shine shine
