  1. Thanks Jayne, 6 weeks seems ot be a pretty god prognosis, I have been told that if I don't rest it properly I may tear it properly and then it will be an operation and 2-3 months in cast then a brace and lots of physio, that would be why I'm at home and not out earning money (really not good when you are partly self-employed), at least I can do the office work from home so I have still got that money coming in. Please can I have the linky for the quiz, I'm sure I'll be much more boring than Jayne is.
  2. I've just got back from visiting my osteopath who told me a couple of weeks ago that I had strained my medial ligament in my knee and that I needed to wear a support and try to rest it (she knows about the horses and dogs so laughed when she told me this!!). I went back again last week and got told that it is worse now and is at risk of tearing, she did ultrasound on it and then taped it up so that I couldn't bend it. Just been back again and she can see some improvement but it has been retaped and I'm supposed to be resting it again. Waffle over!! Question: Does anyone have any ideas how long these things take to heal? Am I being stupid if I go to crufts next week (not driving and going with someone that had a hip replacement just before Christmas so will probs spend most of day sat down for her sake as well)
  3. Strange I know, I have always preferred big dogs, like the scotties but they found it a bit difficult to keep up with the horse when I went out riding with them round the fields!! There were a few reasons why I wanted a dobie (my first dog that was all mine) - mainly because I wanted to do obedience type things so was looking at the collies/GSDs/Dobies etc, but also wanted something that would act as a deterrent to anyone who fancied threatening me when I was at the yard on my own at stupid times of the day or night. Also ruled out GSDs cos I wanted something short coated to make grooming and keeping clean a bit easier!!! The other 2 kind of found me, although I have now fallen in love with the breeds and will hopefully have many more similar over the years. Edited to add - That was to tegk68 by the way! I think schnauzers are way more fun than scotties, all the character and cheekiness with longer legs and more bounce! If I was going to get a small dog it would have to be a schnauzer.
  4. I have always grown up with scotties, first there was Mac (original I know), he used to look after me and my sister when we were little. Then there was Penny, who was a proper cowbag!! Then Dirk (apparently scottish for Dagger - my dad named him) we wanted to call him Tuppence to go with Penny but Dad wouldn't let us!! Then Missy, who is a lot of fun and still keeps Kimba (my dobie) in line. Somehow despite all the scotties in my childhood I have ended up with a Doberman, Saluki X and a GSP!!!
  5. Just thought I would add to the Scottie theme with a picture of Mischief (Missy) my mum and dad's scottie Jayne - if you want me to have a look at Shara with my chiro hat on I might be able to give you a bit more info on how far along she is and maybe some exercises/suplements that could help her. Give me a ring or PM if you want to talk about it. I can't believe how much you lot have managed to post, it has taken me since just after 10am to catch up and I am so supposed to be working, got to leave early today to do a transport run so should really get on with it all!!
  6. Thats fantastic, it sounds like he really is a natural. I'll look forward to seeing you at all the competitions!!!
  7. Don't worry about it, the Cheshire Set (Gooster and now me!!) looks really scary on the website and really professional, but they are all really nice people and talk you through everything really well. Don't worry about what Sidney may do, everyone will have had something daft happen at some point, you will all just laugh it off!! Most importantly just have a good time cos it is great fun.
  8. Yaay, have lots of fun and report back on how it went, and how much Sidney enjoyed it.
  9. EH!! Am very much looking forward to meeting the sane one for the photo session I won in the auction, not that I'm counting the days until it gets a bit better weather so that he can get stunningly gorgeous photos of all the beasts (as usual!). The EH bit was to Yantan by the way!
  10. Its snowing lots here (Saddleworth), I might get sent home from work early cos we can't actually see out of the window anymore and I have to get over the hills to get home!!
  11. I'm sure he will love it, from what I remember fo him it shold be right up his street. Let us know how you get on K
  12. Fantastic, I had a similar experience with a friend of mine, he had a very strange idea of dog ownership (from his parents), which I did my best to alter, he has since adopted a bullmastiff X great dane puppy from Foal Farm (I think) or one of the other ones in Kent. Aparently they are getting on great and he has gone from being really house proud and obsessive about his car to selling his car and getting an estate to be big enough for the dog and not bothering about his house getting trashed on a regular basis!!! He is now much more fun to talk to and will be bringing the puppy to stay with me and my lot in a few weeks - that could be fun!!
  13. Blinking heck you lot have been busy over the weekend, it has just taken me over an hour to catch up on this thread alone, haven't even started on the rest of the board. I have had a bit of a busy weekend too, was flyball on Saturday morning, but around that I had to get 2 horses ready to go out to a dressage competition in the afternoon, so bathing and plaiting to be done. Went to the show and did pretty well so was well pleased with the boys. Went out Sat night cos it was a mate's 30th birthday, very long night, but lots of fun. Sunday drove over towards Biddulph to do a couple of horse chiro jobs then home in time to go training 1.30 - 4.30 in the afternoon. Busy weekend but lots of fun!!
  14. HEllo everybody, I'm at work and I'm meant to be here until 4.30, but I'm going to escape soon!!!
  15. I have decided that I am going to post loads of rubbish on here in an effort to boost my post numbers, I need to be an addicted member!!!
  16. I was a leopard called Lola too, it must be a common name for Leopards!!
  17. Chondroitin reduces pain and inflammation, improves joint function and slows disease progression. It is believed to enhance the shock-absorbing properties of collagen(makes up cartilage) and block enzymes that break down cartilage. Currently there is no proof that it can reverse cartilage loss. It generally takes two to four months to work completely. Glucosamine provides the natural building blocks for growth, repair and maintenance of cartilage. Like chondroitin, it helps cartilage absorb water and keeps the joint lubricated. Hope that makes sense, Any questions feel free to PM me and I'll try to help! Katherine
  18. Gooster is right, it is made very hard for them to go wrong, and even if it does, on-one seems to mind, one of mine was having much fun running off round the field going to everyone except me!! everyone just laughed and we had another go!! It is great fun and I reckon your mob would love it.
  19. Just a quick update on Jasper's progress. My little boy is a star, he is now doing the sit and down to cue either with voice or hand signal or both and he has done them in several different places. I am really pleased with him cos I even took him into the class at training last night, I take my other 2 there but he has always been too scared to cope with all the people around. Last week I took him into the kitchen bit (looks out onto the training hall) and did a little bit of clicker with him and just let him look at what was going on, this week he was so calm about it all that I took him into the beginners class as it was quiet and he was a real star, he did his sits, downs and recalls on lead with no problems at all, he had lots of praise and my trainer (also a close friend) said how well he was getting on, so much so that he has suggested thining about doing the KC bronze with him, there are only 2 others doing it so it should be nice and quiet for him, will see how he gets on and work from there. Enough bragging for one post I think. Katherine and Jasper

I also own a fantastic horse called Apple who I have had since I was 15. I have fostered for WAW, my last one went to his new house yesterday after 4 months with me) and try to help out with transporting when I can fit it in around 3 jobs and all the animals!!
