  1. Including a registration/compulsory chipping process i also see as a good idea. I think this is just as important as the training bit and they would need to be brought in together. This would make things more complicated for both irresponsible breeders and irresponsible owners who after a couple of weeks get fed up with their dog and boot them out on the street. It would also make potential owners give the subject of having a dog much more consideration before aquiring one. There could quite easily be a fine impossed for letting dogs stray as the owners can be easily traced. I know it would also complicate things slightly for responible owners like our selves but if people knew that they would have to register their pups/dogs, carry responibility for homing/rehoming etc. Get a fine if they don't look after them properly, get fined if they don't register them, get fined if they don't attend training and all owners carry 100% responsibility for their actions and ensuring they go to classes. I think this would not only help prevent dog attacks but we would also see a long term reduction in strays. Melp...you have not commented on this one.....Tell me if i am talking cr@p.
  2. When i say training i mean the basics. eg My partners mothers dog would jump on her and what would she do? Raise her hands. After a little advice she put a stop to this. Feeding the dog a treat and the dog start snapping at the food. You make the dog wait till you say ready etc. Teaching the dog authority, you start playing with the dog and also you stop the play. When you say "that'll do" the play stops etc Just common sense to me and you but not to some people out there. Again may be a stooopid idea but just a suggestion. As with my job refreshers are a complete waste of time for people who have driven a truck for 3 years. But as i said they are not going to relax bsl with out a replacement. Even if they relaxed bsl by introducing training for certain breeds only. Better than them banning breeds.
  3. If you think the idea was stoopid you tell me. My other half doe's all the time. You women.
  4. My comment was just an idea related to my work (forklift instructor). I get a very similar response as yours when people come to do refresher training and many say it is a load of bo11ox. They are correct, i agree and i also agree with your comment. It is all money and ways of boosting the economy many say which at the moment is balancing on its last leg. I would expect you to also say this if it was something introduced in future. Obviously it would have to be brought in with compulsory chipping, register etc to trace dpgs which do not attend. It would also have to be staged in not to affect many current situations at the moment (Any dogs born after a certain date etc). When i say compuslory classes i mean may be 1 day introduction training before having a dog and perhaps going once every 6 months for the first 2 years and once a year afterwards for assessment/advice. Many things would need to be considered as like your own situation where perhaps a family member could take the dog. As you can now see i didn't mean weekly obedience classes to start with. I was just suggesting an idea related to my work. Again please remember that we are trying to make our thick and stupid government realise that the deed is to blame and not breeds. They will not just say "yes you are right and we were wrong from the start. Pit bulls are no longer illegal and we will never ban any more breeds in the future" They will need an alternative to be in place before they will think about relaxing bsl. As you will see in my reply above we agree on most of your comment. As for the training classes you will also see in my comment that i was not talking about several hours a week but something like the legislation related with my job.
  5. What are your views on training/educating owners and dogs? Do you think there should be training/education for owners and/or dogs? If so do you think it should be compulsory or voluntry as it is now? They aint gonna relax breed specific legislation with out a more efficient legislation replacement.
  6. Under todays legislation an employer must provide its employees with training how to use a machine (eg a press) which is covered by guards and sensors and almost impossible to injure your self. Yet any one can have a dog which is much more capable of injuring some one. A good piece and i agree with the training but why would it be impossible to enforce training? Obviously we would get individuals breaking the law as with any other law but how would this be impossible to enforce? The reason i can not see a government enforce it is because it would loose more votes than it would gain. Although it would be the way forward for the current shambolic dda. Any one who haven't got time to do the training and take their dog to classes havent got the time required to own a dog.
  7. There were items on there that i wasn't aware of. Is it worth pinning this link? I know they are advertised when they come in but the posts slide down and they get missed.
  8. Yeap...Aint this the paper who dobbed in the breeder in birmingham a few months ago trying to ramp up how easy it is to buy a pit bull in the UK?
  9. Wow what lovely dogs . Sad that Ben Bradshaw and co want to see them all dead.
  10. Sounds good to me and yes you are right, they would not remove but they might relax bsl. Who would this be forward/proposed to???
  11. So basically relaxing breed specific legislation?
  12. Would this mean to keep the pit bull a banned breed?
  13. Greg hands put a few good points across to Ben the to$$er Bradshaw though. As normal, he won't admit their c*ck ups.
  14. So we have a man in charge of the DDA who has never kept a dog. What a to$$er, can't stand the man.
  15. Andrews Rosindell's web site. I've contacted him with my views. http://www.rosindell.com/
  16. I'm voting conservative next time. I can't stand the sight of that ben bradshaw. Not even got the decency to reply when you contact him. I'm gonna stop there.
  17. If they catch the sick people who did this, they'll probably get slapped on the wrist and banned from keeping animals. Dogs are being put down for the way they look.
  18. How old are pups in these photos? Do you know?
  19. What lovely pictures. Saddly our government/authorities want them all destroyed solely for the way they look.
  20. I've set cap as my avatar setting. Having trouble posting a pic of rip and cap. I will suss it out though and put one on.
