  1. I used one of these with my old dog for his arthritis. It took ages to kick in, a good couple of months, but I'm sure it must have done something because he became much less lame and I could halve the Rimadyl he was taking. The collar is the only explanation I can think of!
  2. She's beautiful!!! Fab to see a tail where it should be! My rottie-boy has just looked at each photo and is now whining under his breath Think he's in luv Or wants the eel - he'd probably roll in it!

    Scurfy Skin

I have a 13 year old spayed bitch who has developed scurfy skin and little scabs, mainly on her back and sides She has also got some scurfy skin on her tummy around her nipples. Her tummy and nipples have been quite red lately and she has a hard cyst I've been told to keep an eye on. I've taken her to the vet twice about her tummy and have been given antibiotics for her skin but they didn't really work. I've been putting aloe vera directly from a plant onto her tummy and that seems to have worked but it's not really practical or possible to do that to the rest of her. She doesn't have fleas and doesn't scratch or lick herself outside of the norm. She's fed a varied raw diet (meat, fish, vegetables, bones) with occasional supplements of vitamins/minerals and flax or cod liver oil. She has occasional Metacam as she's a bit stiff around her backend these days. The only other unusual thing is that she's been dragging her bottom a lot - she does have a problem with her anal glands but these were only emptied a couple of weeks ago. Obviously I'm happy to take her back to the vet again but wondered if anyone had any advice or could suggest some more 'natural' remedies/shampoos etc., first I had a look at Crufts but there's so many on the market it's mind boggling Thanks very much Jo
  4. What fantastic pictures!!! The last one of your two together should be an advertising pic for the Oldies Club!! Such kissable noses
  5. I'm glad I'm not the only person who found the HTM boring!! Thought I was odd or something I loved the bloodhound personally, the Akita was beautiful but handled appallingly. I like Crufts, I love going and watching all the demos and stuff and buying my dogs lots of pressies. I have mixed feelings about the dogs being show but there's good show people and bad ones, like everything. I am always very, very pleased when there's no rottie (my fav breed) in the line up as you know for sure that somewhere, some puppy farmer is rushing out to get a couple of Tibetan Terriers to start a breeding programme to supply the demand for what will possibly now become a more popular breed
  6. that's great to hear he's home x
  7. If anyone is going tomorrow - check out the rotties (complete with tails) doing obedience demos in the "Dog Days Out" exhibition One of them is the half-brother to my rottie boy If they're not doing demos, then the dogs are available for fussing under the 'obedience' sign.
  8. Look forward to hearing from you Cindy Lots of love to your Snatch xx
  9. Hi, Thanks for the replies, I was worried that I'd upset Jack by going to see him, but waiting a while seems like really good advice, thanks
  10. Best wishes Snatch, sure you'll be okay.
  11. Hi I'm Jo, I live in Leicester with Rudi Rottweiler (2) and Amber Spaniel (13). We've just fostered our first dog, Jackson the Jack Russell for the Oldies Club. Jackson is lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed having him here - he enjoyed chasing and wrestling with Rudi. He went to his new home a couple of weeks ago and and I believe he is doing very well. The new owners said I could visit but I'm not sure if they were just being polite - is it the done thing?
