  1. Owl.it is testament to Wispa that you wish to give your love to another dog in need.
  2. Old machines are more substantial than the modern ones. My Bosch machine was about 15 years old when I lwft it at my last house. It had coped with hairy blankets for two dogs and muddy kitchen rugs as well as everyday washing and was still going strong. Many years ago a washing machine repair man told me I should repair my old machine rather buy a new one. Feeling warmer this morning but cloudy sky. Snow remnants gone.
  3. Still blue skies and sunshine here but very cold. It is supposed to get warmer over the weekend. My son sent a video of snowing outside his flat in Romania yesterday. For the last few days they have 21degrees and thought spring was coming- back into winter. The weather is weird this year. Good you are able tog et out again. You have had a long haul. I haven't been out , apart for shopping, much for weeks- it is too blooming cold. Roll on spring. I haven't decided what to do about a dog yet. Being practical I avoid big dogs but I am not a small dog person. I thought about fostering but have my grandson visiting and , due to behavioural problems, he does not always respect boundaries. Cleo was excellent with him but bringing in a unknown dog needs thinking about. He assumes all dogs are like her.
  4. Thinking about you , owl. Her paw prints will always be in your heart. "Today you did the bravest thing, today you set me free. Thank you for showing me the ultimate dignity. I'm sorry that my leaving has broken your kind heart. But we knew this day would come, the day we had to part. Don't think I did not hear every last word you said. Don't think I did not feel, your trembling hand touch my head. Today you did the bravest thing, today you set me free. Thank you for a wonderful life, thank you for loving me."
  5. Sorry to read that, owl. It is the hardest of decisions but the last kind thing we can do for them. Although I knew it was coming it was still sudden with Cleo, at the end., and it was heartbreaking. Take care. Safe journey to the bridge, Wispa. Run free again.
  6. Bitterly cold here but no more snow. Main roads are clear but side roads not so much. Snow has melted where sun has shone. Stitches out tomorrow. miss having a dog but gladI don’t have to walk one in this weather.
  7. Snowed during the night and lying this morning but also icy. Thw bitter cold wind has gone so it doesn't' feel as cold as it has the last few days. Sun is shining so one side of car has cleared. I will go out shortly and clear the rest in case it freezes later. I need to go out tomorrow morning so don't want a frozen car.
  8. wow, I would have been worried they had stolen the dog. Why have the rescue allowed her to be adopted with a male in the couple? That poor dog. He doesn't sound very understanding about dogs. I wouldn't be surprised if you get her back. I hope the rescue keep tabs on her in case they pass her on or worse when she doesn't fit in.
  9. Since the time it was offline for an update and the introduction of the security measures the forum is broken. I can only read the page I click on. I cannot go back to a previous one or forward to the next one. To read a previous page I HAVE to close and then click on the previous number to view. Sometimes I don't get into the page at all. I just get a page of text. I don't think anybody is monitoring the site. It is a pain
  10. How did your appointment go? Damp and cold here again. I am off to make carrot and coriander soup .
  11. Thanks. yes, i like Frankie and Benny's. We had one at the retail park just up the road which was always busy. But they closed it when they had a big review of stores. it was so handy. Now we have to drive to another retail park for one. I hope something can be done for your eyes.
  12. doing alright, thanks. It is well covered with a dressing so no idea what i the scar looks like. It has been bleeding during the night , probably caused by putting pressure on it by lying on it. It was stinging slightly yesterday but fine today. My cheek is slightly swollen. That and the dressing being right up to my eye mean I keep wanting to brush something away from my eye and my specs can't sit properly. Stitches out in a week. Today is my birthday. I had a 'birthday' meal with the family last night and went out for breakfast with my DIL this morning. I had a lovely meal at Frankie and Benny's. I had french toast with mixed berries and fruit, topped with some yoghourt.
  13. Been a quiet year so far. Posted a parcel and did a small shop then went to library. Dry and sunny but very cold wind. Have a hospital appointment tomorrow for the removal of a lesion on my cheek. It is only a local aneasthetic so just 45 minutes..Have gone private to avoid l o n g wait for NHS. Primary schools here are on strike tomorrow so my son is working from home as well as looking after my grandson and taking me to hospital.
  14. Have you had your hand checked? You may have broken a small bone. sorry to hear your Dil had problems. I hope she is recovering. Have you got your stove fixed, owl? Or power back on. Family set off home this morning at 10.20 am. Three flights and they get home at 10pm tonight. My son sold his flat here so they are laden with clothes that they had left in it. Plenty of household bits and pieces still being stored in a friend’s attic.
  15. Had a good day. All the family for a New Years Day dinner. Eaten and drunk a lot and now relaxing.
  16. Congratulations grandma.
  17. Now you've learned she does not like big dogs. After a wild wet and windy morning we now have blue skies and sunshine but roads closed due to flooding. Have baked a chocolate sponge for New Years Day dinner and rhubarb abd strawberries cooked for a crumble. Now relaxing waiting for son and fiance to arrive back from staying with a friend for a couple of nights.
  18. I hope your friend is okay. I have had a quiet day after a busy few days. Son and fiance have gone to stay with a friend for a couple of days. It is nice to have them here but I am enjoying some quiet time. I am babysitting tomorrow night to allow my son and dil to go to a party.
  19. Had a good day with family yesterday. A covering of snow when we walked home at 10 p.m. Still occasional flurries this morning. Glad Everybody is ok. We do have to appreciate who we have around us. Life can be unexpected. Lewis and his girlfriend are bound to worry about this baby. I know I did , after losing my first pregnancy. Thankfully, next two were alright. Happy Boxing Day
  20. Happy Christmas to you and yours. was good you were able to get and meet friends, owl.
  21. DRY but grey day. Family coming later for take away dinner. Grandson excited for tomorrow. It is good to be able to be together again after three years.
