  1. The Merseyside pet ambulance has now operated for three years in the Mersey region, our core business has been transporting pet owners and owned domestic animals throughout the area to vets. We have also answer calls from the police for injured strays. This has always been a service we have had to charge the police for. Since the change in legislation regarding stray dogs this has meant that uninjured strays are left to roam the streets at night and then become involved in RTA's as there is no collection service and the police have no reponsibility for them until they become injured or hurt. We are now proposing to launch a FREE ambulance service to pick up stray dogs of a night time or at weekends before they get killed or injured. This service will relay entirely on public donations. We are also looking to recruit a fundraising team and other volunteers who feel they may be able to assist us. We need to raise around £1000.00 to get this service up and running and we are around halfway there. if you can help please go to our website at www.merseysidepetambulance.co.uk and go to the link for the animal rescue team.......
  2. WEBSITE NOW LIVE www.petambkidz.co.uk is now live we are adding to it daily if you have any news or rescources which may be good for us to pormote please feel free to let us know... Regards Steve
  3. as the law stands yes you can bury domestic pets in your garden. If they have been euthanised then you must be care full about other pets or animals digging them up. As regards transport yes you can move them in your own car. The only legislation i know of on this matter states that "commercially" dead animals cannot be transported in the same vehicle as live ones....
  4. Hi We are at present putting together a website that we are going to publicise initially throughout the Merseyside Area. This website is going to be primarily aimed at kids and educating them how to behave around dogs and other pets. It is also a round about way of educationg parents about how to behave around dogs as well. We have found that parents particularly from non pet owning families are more willing to take advice if they think it is being given to their children rather than telling them what to do. We are going to have our own content and bring together the best links from around the web. The website is not up and running yet but will be within the next three weeks and the address will be www.petambkidz.co.uk there is a taster kids page on our website at present. If anyone knows of any good links or feels they may have some child friendly content to contribute please dont hesitate to contact me via our usual website at www.merseysidepetambulance.co.uk. Regards Steve
  5. Hi We are offering advice to all owners as they use our service we are also recieving lots of calls from worried owners and we will continue to give them the advice and reassurance they need. Because of the massive volume of our work we cannot as yet go door to door but we will help as we have already been doing so. We will be attending many events this year throughout Liverpool and Merseyside and no doubt worried pet owners will approach us there to. Keep up the campaign you have our full support. 6. This petition is now live at http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/VetsGreenlights/ This petition will now run until Jan 2008 when it will be presented to Number 10 Thanks in advance for your support Steve
  7. We are at present lobbying the dept of transport to allow Veterinary ambulances with properly qualified staff to be able to display green warning beacons. This will allow ambulances greater visibility when en route to an emergency and mean that traffic will give way to such a vehicle. It will not allow them to go through red lights etc. However the road lighting regulations do not recognise animal ambulances as ambulances. This is strange as the Vehicle excise act does and as such proper veterinary ambulances actually display the word ambulance on the tax disc and on the log book, a government issued document. What is further anyone can set up a private human ambulance service without qualifications and throw a blue light on a vehicle quite legally. We have so far approached the police for special exemption but they will not overide the lighting reg's. We have contacted parliament and they have no plans as yet to change the regulations. So now we need your help. We are in the process of organising an E-petition we need as many names as possible on this petition. As soon as the petition is published to the net we will place a link on here if the administrators allow and also on our website please pass the word around.. all the best Steve Merseyside pet ambulance
