It's turned stormy here but we are snug & warm inside. Tye hates the rain but has managed to man up twice and rush out, wee and rush back. If the run is still on tomorrow Owl I hope everything goes OK. Good luck.

How's the weather for everyone this morning? It's reasonable here but there is rather a cold wind blowing, particularly in exposed areas. Tye and I had a walk to the lake early this morning but because of the bitter wind on the foreshore we didn't walk as far along as planned. Instead we headed into a nearby wood where it was much more sheltered. Had another dog owner call his dogs to put them on a lead when he spotted Tye was on his. I thanked him as we passed. Unfortunately responsible owners like this are few and far between. As we walked down I chose not to go through the churchyard as I knew it would be very windy. We stuck to the sheltered lane running beside it. I was dismayed to see someone through the hedge with a dog running loose in the churchyard despite all the signs saying "on-lead dogs only please". When we came back that way the gate was left open. I wonder who might have done that???

Yes you are outnumbered this time Suzeanna. We all want to keep you a good bit longer. The rest of the news is good though 👍

Bit of good news for you then Jazz If the weather is really bad Owl perhaps they will cancel the run??

It must be hard seeing a family member deteriorating like that Eve. I'm glad the journey there and back wasn't horrendous. Tye is a sossidge thief. I went to the opticians and left Ruby in charge. She heard a crash from the kitchen and got there just in time to see the last of 2 Cumberland sausages going down the hatch. Tye is not one bit sorry. I'm getting new glasses. There's been a big change in my left eye due to a cataract starting to form. It will probably be a while before it gets bad enough to warrant removal. What's everyone up to today?

It's a cold and frosty morning here. Brrrr. Seems like we are all in for a stormy weekend so I hope no one is impacted negatively by it.

We saw 2 deer on this mornings walk. Well I did. Tye was being completely mesmerized by sheep in a field. He stood and watched them for ages. The deer, in turn, were standing watching us.

Bloody hell Suzeanna! I hope it turns out to be scar tissue then. My friend in Connecticut was in Florida last week and fell and broke both arms, although it wasn't confirmed until a couple of days later when she got home. She is struggling to do all sorts of everyday things. As she broke both arms close to the elbows she can't have casts as she'd be unable to bend her arms. Plus it does an elbow joint no good at all to be immobilised. She's got splints instead. I'm watching where I put my feet whilst out and about!

It's not too bad here, no way as windy as yesterday although it is quite nippy. I hope Eve's drive at least this far south was OK weather wise. Tye and me did 2.3 miles on this morning's walk. It took as twice as long as it should have because we had to stop at every bloomin lamp-post, tree, hedge, bit of grass, bin, wall - well you name it coz chances are we stopped at it - in order for Tye to pick his p-mail up.

We were lucky with Tye then. It only took him an hour to settle in. Our garden has a new art installation. A double door fridge freezer! The council are collecting it on Friday but I keep looking at it wondering if I can somehow turn it into something. Like a place to grow plants and have a floral display cascading from the shelves. Probably best though just to let the council take it away 😂😂
  11. I know they measure for enzymes in the liver. Elevated levels can be sign that something isn't quiet right but they do elevate on occasion only to fall back to normal. My enzyme level was, at one time, very elevated and my GP wanted to admit me to hospital but I refused. She tested my again the following week and the level was normal!
  12. I hope its not coronavirus Owl! I see there are now 2 people in the UK that have it so it's here. I hope you feel better soon. Tye isn't so well. He has a sore throat. The vet saw him on Wednesday and kennel cough and other nasties have been ruled out. He doesn't want to eat but I hand fed him this morning and got something into him so he could have a dose of loxicom. Vet advised chicken & rice for a couple of days so I cooked 3 chicken breasts and left them, wrapped in foil, to cool right at the back of the kitchen counter. I saw my neighbour out who had come round to sit with Tye whilst I went for my hair cut. I came back in to find Tye had managed to reach the chicken and had eaten the lot. He wasn't one bit sorry. In fact he was quite proud of himself! However since then his appetite has waned and he's eaten very little since, bless him.
  13. Fridge freezer is here. It has to stand for 4 hrs to let the gases settle before we switch it on. It was still a struggle to get it in. They ended up taking the handles off. The old one went out easier tho. Its standing in the garden as I'll have to get the council to come for it for safe disposal.
  14. Still no sign of the fridge freezer. I rang them and the office lady said the boss was 100% sure he was going to get it here today. She told him we had moved all the furniture too. I can't cook tonight without moving a load of it back. Oh and I have a big shop being delivered in the morning coz I was expecting to have a sizeable fridge freezer to pack a lot of it in. It's starting to get pretty late though! I don't want to go on and on about it to them as they aren't charging us for the loan of the separate fridge and freezer they brought us when our old one packed in. The owner brought them out the same day the other packed in just after Christmas when the business was officially closed.
  15. I think it's awful that Steve wasn't informed about his dad's death. Bloody people making decisions they've no right to make. Grrrrr. I am sitting waiting for our new fridge freezer to arrive. We've measured up and it should come thro the front door and inner hall door OK.There is a tight turn into the dining room but the doorway is large enough to leave space on both sides. We've had to move everything out of the hall though including a solid oak set of drawers which weigh a ton.
  16. Having now seen a photo of the carpet it's right up my street - or should that be stairs! I've spoken to the rescue about Tye's holiday accommodation when we are away and they are struggling to find a temporary pet free foster so have offered to pay boarding fees. Ruby and I had both decided we would prefer Tye go to the local dog hotel anyway. The dogs get a room rather than a kennel with underfloor heating, piped music and a nice long window overlooking one of the paddocks. Plus they get lots of attention, walks and activities in the 2 outside paddocks and the indoor play room. He's been getting to know them there from us renting a paddock for off-lead bimbles. We are going to pay for it though. I see how the rescue struggles to keep the funds coming in and we don't want to add to that. I got everything into the Panda OK, it's not as small as it looks. Blankets will be going to the rescue on Thursday.
  17. I'm not looking forward to taking Tye out. Its damp, cold & miserable. We have some blankets to deliver to a friend who is going to get them to a a small rescue at Alston as they are desperate for them. Alston Moor is a wild and cold place and I'll bet it's under snow today. Alston gets cut frequently in the winter months. Quite how I am going to fit Tye, Tye's steps and two big black bags of blankets in my little Panda is something I have yet to work out! Suzeanna the new carpet sounds lush. I'm glad you are pleased with it. I love the smell of new carpet.
  18. I feel your pain about giving books up Suzeanna! I'm trying not to think about the 150 odd I've sent off the charity shop. I like Bill Bryson, I've read a couple of his earlier books so will look out for The Body although I have sworn off buying anymore until I reduce my "to-be-read" pile.
  19. Tye settles down when I put some baroque music on. He lies listening to it before it eventually sends him to sleep. Ruby is definitely not getting another Audi. I hate that one she has and I will be driving the new car more. She's fancying a hybrid Toyota Corolla but if she does go for it she reckons she'll have to work another year to get the allowance to pay for it! She also liked a hybrid Citroen C3 she test drove. She went to a Volvo dealer as she is mightily interested in another but the salesmen ignored her so she walked out. In the end she was getting confused from having too much to chose from. Owl our cats all loved opera but we like it too so didn't have to put up with it just for their sake. That was very sporting of you to that for the pulis. Eve I must try & remember the teaspoon in the freezer trick!
  20. I love my Tye. His personality is coming out more and more as he settles. He loves Baroque music. Ruby has had to take her car to the Audi dealer in Carlisle for a service. She is parting ways with it in a few weeks time so she is taking the opportunity to look for a new car whilst she's there. She's not getting another company car but taking the allowance instead. That way the car will be hers when she retires in 2 years time. Oops I meant to say to Suzeanna yes I think tea helps but also cucumber.
  21. It's really nice to have a dog who is not afraid of the hoover 😁
  22. It's a very nasty letter. I reckon it's just an attempt to intimidate and am surprised a solicitor would draw it up in that way. I do wonder if they are pointing out to their clients the consequences of things not going their way. I suspect not. After all the more it escalates the bigger their bill! If I can wake Tye up we are going to have a walk to the churchyard and have a wander around. I've decided to boycott the park because of the numpty dog owners and the lack of compliance with the on-lead rule in one section. Suzeanna I hope Candy hasn't made too much fuss about missing her walks until one of you are up to taking her.
  23. I hope you are having a very happy birthday Alex
  24. Tye seems to have recovered. He's eating normally again and we are just about to go for a walk. We are late today as we had a lie in 😂
