  1. I made a wreath of Rosemary, and used a wire coathanger for the base. Undid the coathanger bend to shape and snip off the excess. Finding a wire coat hanger was the challenge, Dry cleaners came up trumps. For the size you need Im not sure that it would be sturdy enough though, combining a few for the size.
  2. Ive finally managed it!! I gave up after finding out that xp pro was the only thing installed and there was nothing to roll back to - but...... We were so fed up with it, and not being able to update anything because the installed copy of XP pro was hooky that I decided to just try stuff and see. In the end I stuck in the Home Edition disc, rebooted from cd, and when it gave option of different partitions, I deleted the existing partition first, which luckily totally wiped xp pro (it was trial and error because I had no idea) I then installed xp home as a complete new install. It works! Yay No nasty xp pro - Ive updated his IE to 7 , so he now has his tabs, and we can update when needed. Phew!
  3. Thanks Snow, Ive tried to install IE7 for him, but after downloading, I get an error message saying its not supported by my OS. So gawd knows! I will have a look a MS website today to see about rolling back.
  4. Just to add, that the laptop was running IE6 and Im updating to IE7 (as I seem to remember the tabbed browsing being something to do with this) but according to MS my xp pro isnt validated and is hooky Does that now mean I cant update etc?
  5. Thanks for your reply He likes the tabbed browsing that appears with Home, Im not sure if this is something that can be set up - I soooo not techy its untrue, Im not sure that the tabbed browsing was with Home or upgrading IE to be honest. I cant personally see much difference between the two, I cant see what pro offers that is an upgrade on Home, as I said Im not techy. My main worry is the security issue of secondhand pc, I keep worrying about key loggers etc LOL paranoid, which is why Id perfer to wipe and start anew. Although I guess the previous owner cant of been too techy either to leave personal info on the laptop. I had to delete lots of files and docs. The laptop runs quite slowly even though there is very little on there. He hasnt really saved anything on there, as he has used our main pc for important stuff, just in case the laptop suddenly went into meltdown LOL. What are the chances of a secondhand pc/laptop being unsecure for the new user as regards to internet banking/shopping etc?

  7. Can anyone please help? My Son bought a laptop which had xp pro installed on it, works fine but... he prefers xp home and to be honest, although he had been jogging along okay using it, I would prefer a clean install, as every now and again old stuff will appear from the previous owner, an example of this would be .... I now have all the previous owners log in details to their security settings. I was updating my Sons McAfee and suddenly it logged me into the previous owners account, giving me their full details! including password and address. How do I uninstall xp pro and install xp home. I have a disc already for Home edition with the number etc, as we purchased it to put into another pc for my other son to use (that one was running 98) . Ive tried it on the laptop but I get a message saying I cannot put Home edition over Pro (words to that effect). I tried it by shutting down and rebooting with the xp home disc in the drive and it wont do it, it just gives the message as before. Im guessing that I need to uninstall xp pro and start afresh withxp home , I dont know how to uninstall xp pro so any help and advice would be really appreciated on how to achieve what I want to do. gahhhh its posted this a hundred times - mods please help!

  14. I dont really understand the benefits system and how entitlement works, but as far as I can tell - yes they would get free nhs costs such as free prescriptions, dental, travel to appointments etc, and yes rent paid and council tax paid, free school meals for the children and school uniform grants. Is Job Seekers Allowance only for people seeking work? in which case why is he getting it?
  15. oohh thankyou!! I will send you my address now. You really are an angel!
  16. Thanks eversomuch after trying and trying in Boots at the kodak machine, standing for 2 hours trying to transfer all the data over onto 4 kodak discs, I gave up and then came home and rang our nearest computer shop and cried to the nice man , who said he would have a look and see if he could transfer my stuff onto a new disc that can be read on my drive. He promised that he and his mates would not laugh at my piccies, not even a titter, so I dropped it off and am ringing him friday to see If he has got round to doing to, as they are chocca at the moment with repairs etc. But... if he cant do it for any reason, I would love to try the ISO disc thankyou , you are a total star!
  17. Breton is another name for Brittany Spaniel
  18. Thanks but it wont let me look properly, all I get is a list of the names of each photo, if you click on them or anything (like file) right click/left click, a box pops up saying you need to register and it takes you to the ordering section. I think Im going to have to try the Kodak machine in Boots again and see how many kodak discs I need, Im not sure how many images they hold, and also check that the kodak cd will work on my pc. I will then transfer them (or at least attempt to) that way. Thanks eversomuch for your help , it is much appreciated
  19. thanks for your replies Kodak easyshare was a good idea, I downloaded but alas - no dice, but thankyou for your kind suggestion GMYY! Snow - I downloaded the Isobuster, and it certainly read the cd, and showed me a long list of all stored on there - I think I actually used it to save docs as well as sort of a backup. The download doesnt allow me to view or save (unless Im doing it wrong) it asks for a product key and then when you click it takes you onto the website to buy the package. So Im wondering if the free download is a taster - you can almost look, but you cant touch! of course Im so Technically challenged it could be me doing it all wrong. Thankyou though, I did enable me to see a list of whats on the disc. I did just manage to find B's clip disc and load that, which was the original programme I used to burn the Cd on my old pc, but it doesnt seem to help either! thanks again to you both for your help
  20. I totally agree with this. If you are unsure then definitely speak to the store. Its definitely better safe than sorry.
  21. Hope someone can help. I saved photos taken over a couple of years to cd a year or so ago using my old pc running 98. I bought a new pc agggggggges ago and yesterday came across the old photo CD, I cant view it on my pc, my sons pc or the laptop (all running xp) but........ I took the disc into Boots and using the Kodak machine and it told me there were over 500 pic on the disc and I could view them fine. I had the option to print them or make a cd in the shop. Would the newly made cd be playable on any pc? is the first question. Secondly, I popped into our strange little photographic store and asked in there, they sell cameras and telescopes etc, and the chap in there said he does peoples photos from mem card not disc, so I explained my problem and he said he could have a look for me, as he was running several pcs at home all networked so could get the info off the disc using 98 and transfer it using xp. I told him I would pop back, but... he made me feel a bit... uneasy.. I wasnt that comfortable with him looking at all my piccies, not that there is anything dodgey on there of course, but its the kids, christmas that kind of thing as far as I can remember, few years worth! He said he would charge me a fiver, which was kind of him. I just am not that sure about letting him go through my photos, odd maybe I know! It was just an feeling he gave me, ungrateful that I am!But when I put the disc in my pc it only shows 'read me' files and says the driver doesnt support MRW - next one says something like the drive cannot handle the disc because it was formatted by cd-mrw - But the Kodak machine in boots reads it just fine - the newer Boots machine couldnt read it at all. All advice gratefully received.
