  1. I'm so sorry - I never got round to finishing my entries and I was so enthusiastic when I first saw the thread. Sadly someone's stolen my mojo and it's proving too much for me even to push the hoover around at the moment, never mind making things look festive. And anyway I couldn't compete with Santa's morning after - awesome.
  2. Yay!!! About time too!!! I actually really like Pamela. She's reaally dedicated to learning and her Viennese Walts was lovely - and she told the story really well. But I do think Kara's tango deserved better. All that stuff with the chair was really complicated and she did it perfectly. I'm very very impressed with her. But then again - it's always someone young and fit who wins - it would be nice to see a lady "of a certain age" show that we can still achieve amazing things.
  3. I have a work in progress - if I finish it in time, I'll enter!
  4. Me too! I was thinking of calling social services and then I re-read it very carefully. Loving the invisible tree now it's taken off it's invisibility cloak. Very tasteful.
  5. I can't believe I missed a thread with Border Collie in the title!!! But Wiccs is the right place to look. They know which dogs have a work ethic and what work they enjoy. They get dogs in from all sorts of places and all sorts of ages and many go on to do all sorts of doggy activities. The dog on the Iams advert came from Wiccaweys as a hand in because he was uncontrollable but he obviously just wanted a job to do. He went to Crufts one year to publicise Iams and people asked if they could use him as a stud dog - clearly the puppies would come out ready trained! The answer was obviously "no" because he's a Wiccaweys rescue dog and neutered in accordance with their adoption policy. So fingers crossed Wiccs have the right doggy in for your friend.
  6. No surprise there. Ann's dance was awful. It was embarrassing to watch her being dragged around. Where is her dignity? Oh well, at least I don't have to waste time watching the results show tonight.
  7. Fantastic news for Hamish and his family. There has been some research on the power of prayer and positive thoughts. Half the patients in a ward were prayed for by strangers (but weren't told of that), and the other half weren't. The first half recovered much better than the second half. No one's ever been able to get the same results in subsequent tests though. But personally - I'm convinced it helps.
  8. More good thoughts from me. For Mum and her son.
  9. Michelle's been in the bottom two quite a few times so maybe it was time for her to go (except that the obvious one to go is STILL there!). I'd love to know how many votes are keeping Ann in. I don't think my voting for one of the better dancers would make any difference or I'd phone in. Last night wasn't even funny - just dull. They won't change the format half way through a series, but I really wish they would - it would put the excitement back. Just think - Kara could go out if the public decide she's not likeable enough. Insane.
  10. Completely agree. Strictly is my "must watch" programme of the year - but I fell asleep during it last night (I had done a long and emotional day of training for working with disabled children so I do have an excuse). I think it's lost its edge this year - I don't really like so many different dances on one night and I hate the voting system.
  11. I want Ann to go now. Funny, but it's not dancing. Last night she was just being dragged around. The flying didn't add anything to it and Anton had to dance solo for ages while she was unhitched. Her paso will be painful rather than funny.
  12. I never realised that they were mirror images - but it's quite clear now you've said. And what a dramatic difference in the sky on each side of the major rainbow. Lovely.
  13. Quite agree. I've always liked having the extra show on a Sunday but I hate knowing that it's not live. And the show dance/singer things are allegedly live - yet they have the same dancers who are waiting for results but all dressed in different clothes. So the standing ovation is presumably made to a video - irritating or what! And I miss the dance off. With the public vote having so much weight we could end up with non-dancers in the final. Don't like that idea much.
  14. I told my friend about this condition and she's looked it up - it's definitely that thing - nasodigital hyperkeratosis. I can't imagine what it would like coming out of the poor dog's nose!!!! Anyway she's very grateful and off to the vets this morning. Thank you!
  15. This happened to me when I bought my house. I put the heating on and it was suddenly warm enough to hatch eggs which had been lurking somewhere. I won't go into details but, trust me, it was a million times worse than your infestation. And I've had the "dead mouse hatching out" incident too. Yuk. Revolting. It only takes one fly to lay eggs and you can end up with literally hundreds of the little horrors once the circumstances are right to hatch them. I keep the animals (and people) out of the room if I use fly spray. You never know what that stuff will do to skin and lungs. Hope you get rid of them. Quite agree - it's a horrible experience.
  16. Blimey! That's a big word! Off to google it. Thanks.
  17. Just wondered if anyone has come across this before. A friend of mine has an Aussie Shepherd. Her carpal pads (where the dew claw would be if she had them) are really hairy, and I find it quite freaky. You know when you look at the pads you see like little pinheads, its almost like those have grown, looks like a see anemone, very freaky. Is this normal???? It doesn't seem to be causing any problems but it looks really odd! Diane
  18. Welcome to Derbyshire!!!!
  19. Fingers crossed things go smoothly, Owl. I'm away for a few days but if there's anything I can do after next week, just shout.
  20. Great news! Jasper came home this morning all by himself. Just walked into the kitchen as if nothing was different. He's a bit thinner and covered in ticks and he has no idea how much worry and heartache he's caused. Can this thread now be changed to "REUNITED" please?
  21. This is Jasper. He is missing from Kirk Ireton near Carsington Water in Derbyshire. He wasn't wearing a collar and he's not chipped. He was last seen on the farm around 2-3 pm yesterday and then went missing with the other farm dog who came back on his own about 7.40pm. God knows if he's been taken or if he is stuck. He's friendly enough to go off with someone? The family are frantic and would be really grateful for any information.
  22. I'm plagued by flies this year. And they're not scared of us or the dogs - they keep dive-bombing us - really irritating when you're trying to sleep. And I've tried the fly sprays and absolutely nothing works. I hate the little gits!
