  1. Lovely pics, Max is just
  2. What a gorgeous puppy, I can see why you fell in love with her
  3. Oof, it's boiling here, really muggy. I'm supposed to be doing filingandsorting, but instead I'm emailing 'how to use Twitter' tips to my vet and generally faffing about. Bad me, this will not get the baby a new bonnet.
  4. I hope the weather stays fine for all the happy campers. The forecast is quite good, I think Alex, I don't know where the time goes either. Whuppety Jake will be about 13 now, we got him as a baby 8 year old and it doesn't seem a minute since he was racing about.
  5. Marge, that sounds awful Met a woman last week with a lovely little oldie girl, and she started telling me how the dog had liver problems and just been given only weeks to live. She started crying and I wasn't far off myself. Haven't seen her since but she happened to be passing my front garden while I was out earlier, and dog is on steroids and looked very perky. We had a lovely chat about oldies and rescue dogs etc. and I came away really happy for her. I know we can't keep our oldies going for ever, but it looks like little Joy has a while left with her family yet
  6. What a horrible shock, to lose him so suddenly like that. I'm glad his passing was swift and you were with him, but your heart must be breaking Sleep tight Sonny, sweet dreams handsome
  7. I am away to the vet shortly with Peggy Mount, the last of my three ex-battery girls. She's been off colour since Sunday. I've checked her all over but can't find anything like a stuck egg. She had some yellow and a bit of blood in her poo on Sunday, and there was yolky stuff on her bum feathers but I haven't seen anything since then. She's just standing about hunched up, or sleeping on the rockery. I've been giving her Baytril every morning and she's running to me for treats and eating a bit of feed, and seems to be drinking. She'll be about 4 years old so I'm wondering if it's just age and she's fading away now
  8. I'm so sorry, you must be devastated at losing her Sleep tight Susie, sweet dreams lovely girl
  9. Sending many good thoughts that Bella is found soon. I'm sure her family are very grateful to everyone who is working so hard to bring her home. Wispa and her mates are amazing.
  10. Thanks for all the advice people OK, my little Stovax Huntingdon 25 stove is on order, we're going for a 5kw multifuel DEFRA approved version as we're in a smokeless zone. Have found a couple of sources of free wood plus some already seasoned wood sources, sorted where my woodstore will go, and booked the builder/installer to sweep and line the chimney, and hack out the fireplace. I don't think I'm going to go down the chainsaw route as I'm a bit scared of accidentally cutting some of my body parts off, but a friend has said he will chainsaw any big lumps I get and I will use a bowsaw/mawl/logsplitter to do the rest. Just need to get the gas capped off, find a lintel and some stone for the hearth and we are away. I'm very excited, bring on the cold weather I will be laughing in the face of 30% energy price rises. I hope
  11. Morning. I am going to talk to a man about commercial air filters. The fun never ends here.
  12. I'm so sorry for your loss Sleep tight Bob, sweet dreams.
  13. Good morning chaps, it's a beautiful day here too. I'm having a poorly animal day. Horse vet is coming to do some acupuncture; and little Peggy Mount, the last of my three ex-batt hens, is looking a bit off-colour so we might be having a trip to my other vet later. Have been wondering how Jazz's mum and Kats' FIL are this morning.
  14. I'm so sorry Alicia, what a very hard time you are going through. I'm sorry your family are not supporting you very well Kats Alicia, I'm sending good thoughts that your FIL rallies, keep your chin up
  15. Happy birthday, I hope it's been just lovely so far
  16. Well, you can't rush these things Steph RMF: Allan the Stove has just been round to measure up and give me a price for installing a wood-burning stove
  17. Ah, Marion I'm so sorry you've had to let him go. Your heart must be breaking
  18. Crikey Moses Alex, that's expensive Right, I am downing tools now and going out to do some gardening. Dad, stepmum and two aunties are visiting on Thursday, all of them have high housekeeping standards and will be casting a critical eye
  19. It's lovely to see you here Marion, but I'm so sorry to hear that you have been having a rubbish time and George is not well I am sending the lovely lad all the good and healing thoughts I can muster
  20. I've never heard of a video appointment. Is it like a remote appointment, do you skype them or video your problem and send it in
  21. My gas fire is on its last legs and what with energy prices going up I'm thinking of getting a multi-fuel/woodburning stove installed. Can anyone who has got one tell me roughly what they cost to run versus using gas fire/central heating please? I've looked into buying the stove and having it installed and I reckon I would be spending about £1300 all in, so I'm thinking I would have to be saving quite a bit to make it worthwhile. I think I might just want one so I can buy a chainsaw and log-splitter
  22. Have got a mad vision of Karen's fox trying to get the loaf home. Glad you are recharging your batteries Marge Sam, I'm glad you are feeling a bit better I have nothing much to report today. Got up early to go riding, came home to collect dogs and take them the a local National Trust estate for a lovely walk - Alex, you would have love it, rhodos all over the place Just had a ham sandwich and a cup of tea and now I'm deciding what to do next. I'm having a go at making a rag rug but I can't find one of the proggy things so I'm doing it with a pencil. It's slow going
