  1. I would assume 4Paws are banned for allowing MR dogs on their site, but of course can't speak for Stevie.
  2. IP addresses aren't reliable identifiers anyway, many of my members have the same IP addresses and I know they aren't the same people. Some aren't even in the same area. When I've tried to get rid of trolls by banning IP addresses I've found some of my normal members can't access the board. I think an interesting question was raised regarding the RSPCA and Dogs Trust, who both could be seen as "MR Supporters" through DP's squinted glasses since neither of them found an issue with the rescue themselves. One could go on about it forever, but all that this man is achieving is wrecking his own forum which should (and I'm sure used to be...) a great resource for saving dogs lives. (Edited for spelling)
  3. Most of the people I know use Home From Home in Heddon on The Wall, and I would use them if I were to kennel my lot. They are good clients of ours so I know and am reassured that they are "nice" people who always bring pets to the vets when and as required. And all my friend's dogs come home happy & healthy. They have recently renovated heated kennels and a taxi service if required. East Heddon, Allerburn Farm, Heddon-on-the-Wall, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear NE15 0HB Tel: 01661 825208 Another you could check out is the Hadrian in Matfen as they also have heated kennels.

    Incontinence

If you like alternative therapies then homeopathic Sepia is also useful. Asha gets Propalin as well as homeopathy now, there is a tablet alternative called Incurin which works in a different way.
  5. Is it symmetrical? Is it itchy or dry?
  6. Elliot LOVES his Flyball, we've only been doing it since March but he's doing very well and I am very proud of him. We are running with the Tyne Tailwaggers. Here's a couple of piccies taken at training And some from our first competition at Carlton Towers over Easter weekend - we ran Starters and Multibreed, gaining our first 95 points. This is one of our Starters runs with the Red Rose starter team (Elliot is the third dog AKA big red blur LOL!)
  7. I have just imported a Black Dog Flyball harness from Australia - maybe I should spend as much money on my own fashion as I do on this lot!
  8. Me and Elliot will be at (hopefully!) MAY Middleborough - Starters Eggborough - Starters & Multibreed JUNE Blackpool - our division debut! Doncaster JULY Rotherham Scarborough AUGUST York Dundee BFA Summer Champ Drax SEPTEMBER Blackpool South Wales Cheshire
  9. I wish I could be you for a day!
  10. Happy Birthday Handsome - and good luck at the vets!
  11. I have a friend who has had a kidney transplent, and another recently has had a corneal transplant - knowing people who've had these procedures confirms why I think you should have to opt out rather than opt in of a donor scheme. They can take all my bits wherever they like when I pop off.
  12. I love the Apprentice! I am so glad those two went last night. I like Lee McQueen
  13. Oh my he is soooo gorgeous - and I love the name Finn, as it's one of my kitties names
  14. OMG that has completely made my day! Bean says she wishes she could join them!
  15. Can the auction hurry up and open pleeeeeeeeease!
  16. Wow, this has provided quite the morning entertainment - I almost had to pull a sickie to stay in and read more. Thank DoG for excellent forums like The Refuge (and many others of course!)
  17. Her condition is very rare, and only seen in GSDs (and two rare breeds re;lated to them)
  18. Precious is a 2 year old, female GSD looking for a home via GSD Rescue Scotland. She is being fostered by me in Newcastle upon Tyne. She is KC registered and full pedigree but she looks and acts differently because she is a Pituitary Dwarf. This is a condition she was born with, affecting her pituitary gland. The condition causes greatly reduced growth, hair loss, dark pigmentation and a reduced life expectancy. The average life expectancy for pituitary dwarf sheps is 2-5 years, though there has been a recorded dwarf reaching the age of 12 years, Precious is not expected to reach double figures in age. However she is otherwise able to live a completely normal and happy life as a companion and much loved pet. Precious has no medical needs other than protection from the elements - a warm jumper in the cold, a waterproof in the rain and a bit of lotion in the sunshine to protect her delicate hairless body from sunburn. She will continue to lose the hair on her body as she ages, though her head legs and tail will remain furred. This gives her the appearance of having a very large head & extremities, but she's actually well proportioned under there. Precious is extremely affectionate and forms bonds very quickly with a favourite person. She loves to be stroked, tickled and snuggled and likes to lie with you on the sofa. She also enjoys her walks and likes to play a lot too. In both appearance and personality she is very puppy-like and will remain this way. She is bright and can sit and give a paw. She is polite and does not beg, is housetrained, clean and sleeps overnight in a crate. She is very good with other dogs, cats and any other animal. She has a very gentle and sensitive disposition and there's not a bad bone in her little body. Precious is currently coming into season so will stay with me until she can be speyed. Pituitary dwarves have very irregular seasons - sometimes very often, sometimes only one at a very young age - and are prone to developing pyometra, so she will be neutered before rehoming. Precious is looking for a loving home with someone around most of the time. Although she is okay to be left alone and is not destructive, she craves human companionship and with she certainly deserves it. She does like to play with other dogs so a home with at least one gentle but playful canine companion would be ideal. She needs a home where she'll be allowed to sleep on the sofa and share in all aspects of family life. She is relatively active and can keep up with other dogs on walks etc. She knows her name and would like to keep it. Feel free to ask any more questions here or email me if you might be interested in Precious - all prospective adopters would be fully homechecked etc. [email protected]
  19. Sophie is a young (approx 12 months) tortoiseshell queen who is looking for a new home after being caught with kittens. Sophie is now speyed and ready for rehoming urgently as she is very stressed in kennels. Sophie is a semi-feral cat, which means she is not used to human contact at all. Because of this she is very nervous and scared and is not easily handled at all. Because of her scared personality, we are looking for two types of home. - The first option would be a farm, stables or other rural area where Sophie could live and remain feral. She will likely make a good mouser and in return all she would require is a regular supply of cat food and somewhere dry and cosy to hide and take shelter from the elements. With this option she would initially need to be kept confined in a large cage or outbuilding for a week or so being released, to ensure she most likely stays on site. - The second option for Sophie would be an indoor home with no children, no dogs and minimum noise & stress. Because she is young, Sophie does have the potential to come round to be a companion kitty, but she will likely always be nervous and potentially difficult to handle. We have sucessfully placed semi-feral young cats in homes in the past, and they"ve turned out very happy in their homes once settled. She would need a careful adjustment period and a slow introduction to home life and trusting people.
  20. William & Benjamin William & Benjamin are an adorable pair of young boys looking for a home, ideally together. They came to us for rehoming after being raised by their semi-feral mum, Sophie (also available - see Sophie"s seperate listing) but are not feral kittens themselves. William is ginger and the more confident of the pair. Benjamin is black & white and a little more nervous and scared, but both kittens are very playful and inquisitive. We feel that it would be good for the boys to stay together as Benjamin gets more confidence from being around his brother and the two will always be very close. There is a £100 donation fee to adopt both kittens, which covers their vaccinations and neutering once old enough. They must recieve vaccinations at 9 & 11 weeks of age, and be castrated before 6 months of age. They will be rehomed with food and 6 weeks free Pet Plan insurance. Isis Isis is a stunning and petite longhaired girl of 6 months of age. She is all shiny black with gorgeous yellow eyes. She was unwanted so came to us for rehoming. Isis is a little nervous of new situations at first, but soon comes around and wants to be friends. Isis loves to play once she gains confidence and likes to chase, roll and run around after toys. She will also sometimes get over excited and scratch & bite hands and arms, but this is natural behaviour between cats that can be corrected easily enough when she gets too rough. Isis is looking for a loving home without children or dogs, though she could adapt to living with other cats. Isis would equally be suited to being a housecat in an urban area or having some outdoor access if in a quiet or rural area. Because she is long haired there is some grooming commitment required but she does enjoy this so as long as kept up regularly is not a difficult job and will keep her looking her beautiful best. Isis is speyed, microchipped, vaccinated and parasite free. There is a £50 donation fee to adopt Isis, and she comes with 6 weeks free Pet Plan insurance. April April is an 8 month old tabby queen. She was living with a feral colony until recently, but is not feral herself. She is shorthaired, petite and very pretty. April is slightly nervous due to being around feral cats, but is very affectionate and sweet natured once she is used to you. April is currently still nursing a litter of kittens but will be available for rehoming once her kittens are weaned towards the end of May. April is looking for a cosy indoor home where she will be spoilt rotten. She can probably live with other pets and older considerate children. April will be speyed, vaccinated & microchipped before rehoming. There is a £50 donation fee to adopt April. April comes with 6 weeks free Pet Plan insurance. April's Kittens April"s Kittens are a litter of four boys who will be ready towards the end of May. They are currently being reared by april in a foster home and will not be ready to rehome until they are 8 weeks old. There are two tabby boys, one black, and one black & white. They are ideally looking for homes in pairs but can be rehomed singularly also. There is a donation fee of £60 per kitten (or £100 for a pair) which covers vaccinations & neutering when old enough. The kittens must recieve vaccinations at 9 & 11 weeks, and be castrated before 6 months. All kittens rehomed with food pack and 6 weeks free Pet Plan insurance.
  21. I ordered mine direct from America and it turned out half the price you'd pay here. I furminate Asha (GSD-like coat) once per week and with a normal brush I had to do her daily. Do be careful though - if your dog is thin and/or has sensitive thin they can bruise easily if you are too hard with it.
  22. How completely childish and weird. As Admin of a growing forum myself, I don't understand their stance or reasoning at all. I must say I've never been there but I thought it was about saving lives and finding new homes. The Refuge rocks though.
  23. No problem, I should post about them more! Elliot is a Staffie/Lurcher who is 5 years old and I've had him since a pup. He was abandoned in a police station waiting room. He competes at Flyball and is a brilliant dog if I do say so myself! Bean is a JRT/Chihuahua (guesswork) who is approx 5 years old and our most recent permanent addition - failed foster last September. She's not had a very good start, has had multiple litters and we strongly believe witnessed domestic violence from her reactions to certain things. She is really living it up now though, is in great shape and loves her new human & animal family. Asha is a 6.5 year old GSD/Dobe who was adopted from the RSPCA at 6 months of age and already ruined by her past treatment. She has a lot of issues both behavioural & physical but we get by and she is my little sweetheart.
