  1. I love my garden, but all Ihave is a large patch of grass, a Silver Birch tree, a banked area with some shrubs - Mahonia, buddleigha (sp?) underplanted with loads and loads of violets. To the left, running the length of the grass is a line of paving slabs, which I am hoping to get up this year and replace with some slate, interplanted with alpine plants and grasses. In the mean time, I bought myself 5 Oleaders today (yes, I know they are poisonous), a white, a lemon, a salmon, a red and a pink one. They will go in some nice new self watering pots so I should at least have some colour in my garden this year
  2. That's a tough one for Ian and his friends and family, sending good strong thoughts. Makes my silly rant seem very insignificant - but I am going to swing for Big Dave........ We have a 'utility room'and downstairs loo (converted coal hole). There are two switched lights - but I never use the one in the loo as it's lost it's protective cover, so the damp from the tumble drier gets in and shorts it out with a big flash and a bang! He was 'helping' me with decanting the dog food, and decides, despite my warnings, to turn this light on as well. You just know what happened don't you? Yes, the light went flash! Bang! I ended up nearly in tears and apparently it's all my fault because I don't know where the cover is and he doesn't have 'time' to fix it.......
  3. My nephew used to scream when ever I held him, until I wore the same perfume his Mum wore. After that I was his fav Aunty! Not heard anything more from the people with the car, not sure if that's good or not
  4. Thanks for that - the damage to both cars is really minimal (I took photos of their car as experience has taught me you can't always trust other people), but the lady has called me back (I left a note on her windscreen asking her to contact me re an 'incident', so didn't admit guilt). I said I'd rather not take it through insurance companies if possible, and the damage to their car is minimal (2 patches about 2" square on each wheel arch) so i'm hoping my honesty may encourage them to keep it low key.
  5. Hope all goes well for Trude Oh poo! Driving down a road with a line of parked cars ahead (maybe 10 or more) allowed the on coming traffic to clear them (the parked cars were on my side of the road) then started to pass them, two more vehicles (a red skoda and a green landrover) were waiting (so I thought) for me to clear the parked vehicles, just as i got level with the 2nd last parked car, the waiting traffic started coming towards me!!! Result, 2 teeny scuffs on the parked car, and a bit of popped trim and long silver streak down mine If they were in such a rush, why not just mount the pavement on their side? GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!
  6. What a lovely thing of Tracy to do for Mollie (who can not be possibly be 13, because you aren't old enough to have a 13 year old daughter Cheryl)
  7. You are blessed indeed. Next time he pops to Sainsbugs, you can smuggle in the little Chi ;)
  8. AAAARRGGGGHHHHH!!! Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen
  9. Life is to short to spend it stressing over what other people want you to be. Sounds like an ideal resolve. Good luck
  10. PS - I have just opened the back door to let Missy out for a poo, and it's so lovely out there, I didn't shut it again. It's so lovely to have fresh air coming in again.
  11. Yantan, my Kindle uses a standard 'mini USB' lead, which means my Samsung phone charger also fits (so I have Kindle charger upstairs for both, and phone charger downstairs) HTH
  12. Just checked Doglost for the details, and she's been found and reunited with her owner :GroupHug:
  13. I'll pop her on my FB page, I do know there is a very active Dog Lost FB group in MK as well.
  14. No coffee? That's a cruel punishment, what did you do? I'm off out, yes, me! I heard about a group called Red Hats - for 'ladies of a certain age' who want to meet up with like minded folk - all groups are different, and I am lucky, ours is a very active group with the emphasis on fun (one of the activities is Tobogganing in August)but this morning is just coffee at the local garden centre.
  15. Following on from my success at securing an ad hoc job, and my son's experiences 'poo picking' we have started offering our services to poo pick either on a regular basis (£3 per head per acre per week - so 3 ponies on an acre weekly would be £9 (minimum charge of £5) One offs and initial visit would be charged at a hourly rate of £10 regardless of number of horses grazing the area. Does this seem reasonable?
  16. Slapped cheek is common amongst pre schoolers - you will live ;)
  17. I appear to have got myself a little occasional job. An advert appeared on my local horsey FB group, a lady with a large mare and a pony wanted somebody who could look after them (muck out, turn out, bring in, do hay nets, and feed) while she was away with her employer (a show horse rider) at shows, it's ad hoc, so will suit me fine. Turns out, she's DIL to the lady #2 son helps with the poo picking.
  18. Well, that's it. I'm signed off JSA, signed on to ESA. Psychiatrist appt set for 12th March. then hopefully we'll find out if I am bipolar or if it's some form of dementia. Possible history of both in my birth family.
  19. We've had a couple of these, infact, we're turning it into a game..... OH is an IT support guy (for the Foreign Office) so he baffles 'em with bullshit, one bloke yesterday ignored all he was saying and continued blindly with his 'script', but when OH asked which of the 10 ( ) comps in the house was the suspect one - the phone was put down. I had the 'the accident you or somebody in your family had' one a couple of weeks ago. I went along with it, identifying the victim as my son - they wanted to talk to him, so said 'sorry, can't do that' 'When can I call back?' I said there was no point in calling back - as the accident killed him! There was a strangled scream from the woman on the other end, and the line went dead.....
  20. Thanks for reminding me - I have a Buddlhia which needs pruning back - it rose like Lazarus after OH chopped it back when 'tidying'.....
  21. I managed to get an appt to see my Dr this morning. I explained I hadn't taken any anti depressants since mid Dec, and had been experiencing some huge highs and deep lows, but this weekend had the highest of highs - singing out loud in Dunelms and Pets at Home, if I could physically have done it, I'd have been skipping down the road - it was scary with a capital SC... She thinks I may be bipolar!! I've always been 'up and down', and have been taking anti depressants for nearly 2 years now (not any more) She's going to refer me to the mental health team as a 'soon' rather than 'urgent' case. Does anyone else have any experience, 'cos I'm a bit scared. My birth father died at a young age of carbon monoxide poisoning - open verdict, in 1964 - I wonder if it's something I've inherited?
  22. Good morning! I don't know if I'm coming or going - wether what I'm feeling is 'real' or coming from my depression. Going to go with the flow... Maybe after nearly 2 years on the anti depressants I need to look at changing what I'm taking...
  23. At least somebody understands me Now I've gone and had a row with OH, which prolly deserves its own thread. Might need some advice on how to find rented accomodation for me, the kids and the dogs etc.
  24. Don't mind me, I'm having a weird time at the moment - opening mouth and no control over what comes out. Probably offending lots of people.
  25. Oh well, being the nit picker I am, I now have a reason not to watch the film - apart from it being a . The foal has a simple star, the adult Joey has a long star - fail!
