  1. Oooo how I envy you. I wish hubby liked caravans but if it's not bricks and mortar then he just 'aint gonna do it'
  2. I am fully comp. The thing that bothers me is that at noo time was I asked for any details to be submitted in writing with regards to the accident. So yesterday I sent an e-mail saying that before my car goes into the garage I want the decision made as to whom is to blame and asked why I have never been asked for details in writing. I am still waiting for a reply. One major annoying thing is that I seem to be dealing with India and the lady was hard to understand and I had to keep asking her to repeat herself So now we wait.........tum te tum te tum
  3. Thanks for your replies everyone. I do have legal protection and also have my no claims protected for life but what is puzzling me more than anything is that my insurance only asked what happened then said someone from the garage would be calling to book my car in and loan me another car to use. They haven't asked for pictures of the road layout or arranged for anyone to look at the damage to my car or for photographs of the damage. So does this mean they don't doubt that I am to blame?
  4. I have just spent £500 getting my cam belt changed and a new battery put in. 2 days after that was done a lorry decided to add 'go faster' stripes down the side of my car. We were both at the lights and when they changed I pulled off first but the next thing that happened was a terrible jogging as my car got pounded by the lorry. It was left hand drive ( i was in the right hand lane) and he obviously hadn't seen me and wandered over into my lane hitting my car causing deep scratches from my rear passenger door down to my bumper. We pulled over and exchanged details, both saying that it was the others fault but both wished the other a better day on parting. I phoned the insurance company who said they would arrange for the repairs to be done but I would have to pay the £200 excess. This I understand I get back but so many people said because there were no witnesses it would more than likely be 50/50. So I don't know what to do. I know it was his fault as I was in front of him but if i can't prove it I don't want to be £200 out of pocket. Tho the damage is not good, it's not life or death that I get it repaired. So any ideas as what to do? Thanks in advance xx
  5. Mmm that sounds interesting K9Fran, wanna give us a run down of the spat. I'm sure it has resulted in some person now drowning their sorrow in gin and wishing you ill health
  6. Oh fugees, I am so blessed that there are like minded people on here so I know that I don't have to mind my P's & Q's. Here, have a on me. Maybe we should have a changeable Meldrew Moan post and the see who gets the miserablist (new word not in the dictionary) throughout the year.
  7. The more you can't be arsed to pussy foot around people and so start saying what you think? In the last year or so I have started to tell people what I really think rather than saying what they would like to hear and as a consequence have lost friends along the way. I'm never nasty in what I say but no longer will I pander and as a result my popularity has declined at an alarming rate. At the moment I am not too bothered by it as where I live now is not my 'forever' home and at some point in the next few years I will move to where I will put deep roots down and when I get there I know that I am once again going to have to change track and be nice again as otherwise looking (hopefully) into the very distant future when I die there might only be hubby, son and daughter and that won't look very good on my C.V to get access into the 'pearly gates'. The reason this has come up is because tonight I spoke to my daughter and have now upset her by saying that one of her friends was a 'user' and she shouldn't keep putting up with it to which my daughter who has in the past said the very same thing, took umbrage and got annoyed and so I ended the call by saying 'ta ra I'm off to go in the bath' Blimey, I'm only 50 now so what on earth am I going to be like in the years to come
  8. Yes, thank you it is.............fingers crossed
  9. When I said to someone that all Rosie did was stand in the hallway and watch she laughed and said what did I expect as she was a pet. I have wondered fleetingly over the 9 years I have had her what she would do if trouble ever came and now I know. We can't put a normal chain on the door as it is PVC with a big frosted window top and bottom. I have since learnt though that you can now buy a chain thing that does go on pvc doors (www.secure-ring.com) which we will look into and believe you and me there is now a weighted snooker cue behind the door. I'm also happy to report that hubby's 'ex-underworld' colleague has said that he has asked around and the great news is that no one he has spoken to knows of Dan. On a light hearted note I am going to have as my claim to fame 'my voice can be so loud that it make grown men run'
  10. Oh what a day. My son promised to drop call when he got to college. 9am, 9.15am. 9.30am and nothing. O.k deep breathing and be rational. 9.45am and I can't wait any longer so I call him........'the person you are calling is currently unavailable' well with that I so nearly went into panic overdrive. I texted hubby and not getting an answer from him within a nano second I texted my daughter who did text back and took over and the long and short of it was that my network seemed to be down and he was getting the same message when trying to call me. So apart from that today was all calm on the western front. We have thought about cctv but the only place it could be put where we can see who is calling is within arms reach so that renders it quite useless. However, a colleague suggesting putting carpet gripper on the top of my high gates as he said that if they try anything then at least we will have DNA and if question if asked it was there as a deterrent for foxes so although it doesn't allow me to see who is at the front door it does kind of look after the back. Thank you all so much for your support and well wishes it really does help when the 'chips are down' :flowers:
  11. I have a neighbour who comes in twice a week to let Rosie out for a wee. We have an alarm and in the past if it has gone off then he comes over to turn it off. I told him about thursday and have asked that if the alarm goes off then will he please just call the police straight away rather than go over. On the few occasions when it has gone off we think its because rosie has come in line with one of the sensors. I asked my son if he would like me to take him to the train station and pick him up in future and he said no because he wasn't worried. So respecting his wishes I have asked that he 'drop calls' me when he gets their as I shall be on tenterhooks all day. A little while ago I was looking out of the window before pulling the curtains and I saw a car outside my drive with its lights on. Another car pulled up in front of it and as soon as the door opened the 1st car turned its lights out and I swear to god that my heart was in my mouth and my mind went into overdrive
  12. I did go to the police and they think it that it was a personal attack. They asked if dan was involved in drugs to which I replied that I had once smelt dope on him and had read the riot act and that as far as I was aware that had been the last of it. They then said that they ran a check on his name and it came up that he was on their data base as having been caught with a small amount of it on him and that they considered that it was only a minor offense. A reason may have been that they thought there might be some in the house or the only other reason may have been that it was the wrong house/ wrong road. My husband has a student at his work that used to be in a 'gang' around this area and he said that he was going to make enquiries and see if dans name was 'out there' and if it was then he would sort it. It seems so weird that this is all happening when dan doesn't often go out. My real worry is on monday when hubby and I go to work and my son goes to his college. I so know that I will be on tenterhooks until he is safely back home again.
  13. Thanks guys. I will be going to te police this morning to report it and wont be going to work either. I was awake most of the night listening to every creak and sigh and I noticed that dan was also awake. It's so strange how it gets to you as I took rosie out for a quick walk and when I came round the corner there was a strange car parked outside my house and the first thing I did was check to see how many occupants it had in it. The front door will no longer be opened after dark and and will be answered from the front bedroom window and if dans friends want him then they have to ring in advance to say they are coming. Hopefully it will turn out to be random but I will never relax now with concerns for my son. xxxxxx
  14. 3 men have just tried to get into my house and hurt my son. If the doorbell goes in the evening its usually for my son so we leave him to answer it. Tonight it rang as usual and he duly went down and opened the door. I heard shuffling so jumped up to go to the door only to find my son desperately trying to shut it against someone forcing their way in. I have put my arm out the door to help push them out and screamed at the top of my voice for them to get out my ******* house where as they ran off. Son said that it was 3 blokes with hoodies and all he could see were their eyes. He say's he doesn't know why or who they are and swears that he is not caught up in anything. ( son is 19.) We haven't called the police as we don't have anything to go on. We are all very shaken and now I am so scared for my son. I'm sure that whoever it is will know that dan opens the door in the evening and that he is home alone' 3 days a week whilst we are at work and that the other two he is at college. I know it seems strange to post after such a fright but I just needed to share with someone and you guys are always there no matter what. x
  15. And I just have no idea on how to get her weight down. Rosie (king charles cavalier) is now 9 and in good health apart from a very slight heart murmur. When she went to the vets 6 months ago they said that she needed to loose weight otherwise the murmur would get a lot worse. I was never too sure if Rosie was overweight or not as she seems to have hips and I can feel her ribs but her chest is very broad and she has always been on the large side. I am feeding Rosie on Naturediet. She has a quarter of a tub in the morning with a handful of mixer and again the same at night. She does have treats which I know I have to stop giving and this I will do. However, my biggest problem is that most times she can't be bothered to walk. Every morning I start to take her and after a very short time she puts the brakes on and I either try to carry on and drag her or give up and go home. This also happens in the evening depending on how she feels. If I do try to go a more interesting route Rosie soon susses and pulls me in the direction that will lead back home. I know there is nothing wrong with her because at the weekend I will take her over the common where she has a whale of a time and i end up having to drag her home. I can't take her over the common of a week day as it is still too dark to be safe. I do try and play with Rosie and get her to chase a ball in the garden and also chase her around the house but this is very short lived. Never have I known a dog to be so laid back that she spends half her life comatose. Any help please. xxx
  16. I really enjoyed The Nativity which was on BBC1 @7pm on Mon-Thurs of this week
  17. Last week I was waiting in a queue of traffic to turn right. Several light changes later it was my turn to go when a van in the left hand queue drove in front of me and gave me a polite thank you sign with his hand, I gave him a round of applause and a sneer so he gave me the middle finger so I blew him a load of kisses...tosser!
  18. Phoned the number and they said they would get someone to call me..they never did
  19. Thanks guys. I did type in Beddington park to see if there was a number for the dog warden but it didn't show any. How do you go about finding a number? Chris woke up this morning and kept going cold over what might have been.
  20. Does anyone on here live near or go to Beddington Park in Surrey? Hubby took Rosie over there today and he said that while he was walking along with Rosie beside him 3 men were walking behind him. One had a husky and another man had another small dog. As is Rosie's way if there is another dog near she will sit down. This she did and hubby walked on a little way and waited just around the corner by a low flint wall and the next thing the 3 men walked past and one of them had Rosie on a lead and was walking off with her. Upon seeing that hubby went ballistic and said that if they didn't take the lead off straight away the person holding it would soon be dead. With that the men apologised and made out that the one who took it was not 'all there'. This has now left me wondering if the other dogs belonged to them or if they had stolen them. Does anyone know? Should we have reported this or was it a 'one off'?
  21. 15 weeks ago I weighed in at 11 stone. After lots of walking, no alcohol and eating smaller portions of what I wanted I have finally lost 1 1/2 stone and weigh my personal target weight of 9.7 stone. I have just been on the web to see what my ideal weight for my height should be and it say's that i am OVERWEIGHT!!!!!!! How in heavens name can they say that as I am now a size TEN. I can so see why people carry on dieting and dieting until it becomes an obsession and they end up skeletal in the eyes of everyone except themselves. Well this is me now at MY ideal weight. I shall now proceed to eat sensibly and walk as and when the mood takes me but I shall NOT attempt to loose any more. Stuff what the book say's.
