  2. I've complained several times in the past about this particular postie Griff and he's had a hell of a telling off from me too after he was nasty with Archie. They don't seem to want to do anything about him. As the rest of the posties are lovely and often go the extra mile for us I don't want to go to a higher level than the sorting office manager for fear of getting them all told off or sanctioned in some way. Ruby wasn't bothered as the contents were in perfect condition so she said "let it be". She's had loads of pressies. Her staff got her a lovely sponge cake decorated with pencils made of fondant, a bunch of flowers, a silk scarf and a matching silver necklace and ear-rings. Others in her company treat their staff like shite but it's always been Ruby's philosophy to treat others as she likes to be treated and it comes back in spades to her as they are very loyal to her.

  3. Have you ever tried the tanning booth, Griff? where they turn you round like a spit roast? Philip just came back from walking Candy and said he'd been round the field and was coming back down the jitty and met this group of late teen/early twenties standing near the end in clouds of very aromatic smoke. He said they were very chatty and complimented him on the fact his sunglasses matched his t shirt. I said never mind that, didn't you ask them where they got the stuff from?๐Ÿ˜

  5. Neighbours 2 doors along, the ones whose collie likes to race Wispa along the gardens, called across to me with a lovely offer. They do not need a delivery slot they booked with ASDA 2 weeks ago as they have managed to go and do a shop. So they have offered me the password so I can use their slot.

  6. This should give you all a laugh...I've been having the odd Tena Lady moment as I've been coughing so hard. I don't have any Tena Lady, but I do have a pack of Bodyform I got when the letrozole caused bleeding, so I thought one of them would do. Unfortunately, being sleep deprived and not really looking at what I was doing, it wasn't until I plonked one in place and pulled up my knickers that I realised I'd got the sticky side against me, not the underwear!

  8. He clearly hasn't got any kind of handle on this one. If he hasn't seen the conflict in your family for himself he may find it hard to imagine how serious it is. I have had a chat with my sister (not mentioning your name but explaining the situation) because in her years as a minister she has had to organise help for various people in crisis. There should be an Emergency Housing Officer attached to your council who should be available outside normal office hours, and because of your serious health problems combined with threat of violence you should qualify as a vulnerable adult. This would mean that the council are required to provide housing under an Act in 2014. Worth following up.

  10. Anyone who is feeling down wants a laugh and doesn't mind rude language, find Fascinating Aida singing "Dogging". Philip was nearly in tears with laughter listening to them. There is another they've done but I won't recommend that one, it's extremely bad language. Philip keeps in touch with the people he used to work with, and a few weeks ago was Skyped by one of his female friends, saying her husband kept having bad headaches and now blackouts and was going for an MRI scan. She messaged Philip again yesterday, Sean had the results of the scan...a tumour, but until he's seen by the relevant department they wont know if it's benign or not. She was asking how he/we cope with knowing I have serious health issues and Philip told her all you can do is live life as normal, until the day that it isn't. I think that's the only way to deal with things, so anyone waiting on a diagnosis (Griff) or with family or friends in that position, act as if everything is fine and hopefully you'll find that it is. Thus ends the sermon for today.

  11. Best of luck with the scans Lol..sardine Sunday.. brilliant Hopefully ruby's eyesight will be back to usual soon. I am going to party party party tonight and for once in my life my mum won't care how much I drink

  12. No, didn't know there were any. My husband is a comedian! Our hamster has turned out to be rather reclusive, Philip was peering into its cage last night and I said any sign? He said yes, a tiny one by his house, it says f off!

  13. I can confirm you are no minger Griff, quite the opposite. And Steve is far too complex a person for it to be as simple as not wanting to be seen with you. Think of him as a rescue dog, where you don't know the full background, and with many issues that need worked through gradually. Which you're doing brilliantly.

  15. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Suzeanna. I know a fellow Cumbrian who just cannot be doing with Geordies. He hates the accent & more than once has been set upon by a drunken bunch of them over here on holiday when he was a young man. He took up genealogy later in life so imagine his face the day he found out he was descended from a long line of them on one branch of his family tree ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  16. Just checking all is in order because of the trouble my asthma has been giving me Suzeanna. I was always a very "chesty" child and got frequent bouts of bronchitis & had whooping cough as well as the asthma. Oh yes, I've got my diabetes levels right down and if I continue at this rate I will end up out of the diabetic range. I'm going to go for it.

  17. had a busy couple of days last weekend with visitors but they enjoyed themselves, despite the language barrier. It was their first time out of Romania and were amazed at the shades of green in the vegetation. They have grass for a month or two. Outside that it is too hot or too cold. My nephew went gluten free and says he feels much better for it. He is a PE teacher who plays sport in his free time so needs his health and energy. I cut down some overgrown rhododendrons yesterday. They were taking over the bit of garden. The space is bigger now. Some branches were thick and were difficult yo cut, Last night and this morning I could hardly move my right arm. It is slightly better now but my elbow is painful. JIm is still in a lot of pain in his chest. She thinks it is scarring from the drain removal and should resolve itself. After we told her about our last appointment fiasco she contacted the oncologist and he agreed to another CT and blood test before his appointment on Tuesday. Only problem was the CT machine was broken. It was fixed on Friday so a scan was arranged for Monday. I think she is just being cautious- I hope so. Meantime he is dozed up with Morphine and anti inflammatories and spends more time asleep then awake. I hope you can return to normal life soon , griff. Having nightmare neighbours is no fun. You should be able to lead your own life without interference from people like that.

  18. Very sad Griff. Poor man, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. Very happy to help Owl whenever. Just shout ๐Ÿ‘ I sent my DNA sample off today though they've changed the collection times so I missed today's collection. It will take 6-8 weeks anyway from when they get the sample. I may be told that I am related to some archaic grain as I noticed a tiny bit of my breakfast went in the pot. I had gluten free flakes made from foodstuffs typical of an iron age diet. They were shite ๐Ÿ™

  25. I know they are vermin and spread disease and all that, but it was quite interesting watching a rat as she bustled along the patio, up onto the raised flower bed and vanished for a bit and then came back along the same track. (saying she as Philip says it looks like a female.) She did it a few times, always on the same line. I'm thinking of putting up a mini agility course for her.. a few jumps, maybe an a frame? would a tunnel be too much?

  27. I used to live in Llanarth, a village on the main West Wales coast road, about 10 miles south of Aberaeron. The village primary school was on this road near a busy crossroads which led down to Newquay. Typical "Show and Tell" day, with all manner of items being brought in. Then this little lad said he had something which his great great great grandpa had brought back from France where he fought in the war. Everyone was impressed and he had a brief moment of pride ... before he pulled a grenade out of his schoolbag and put in on the teacher's desk. Quick-thinking teacher cleared the school and phoned police. In minutes the bomb squad were scrambled and on their way from Hereford. Police put up blocks on main road. This caused delays throughout a large section of the road, and there are no ways to get round the Llanarth crossroads which do not entail narrow winding lanes and horrendous hills. Not good for HGVs and buses. A few hours of traffic chaos before bomb squad safely defused the thing, which was live. The British grenades contained not only explosive but pieces of metal to cause maximum damage. The incident was on the front page of the Cambrian News. Rather embarrassing for the family.

  28. Ruby's surgery is classed as urgent and the surgeon is determined to go ahead come hell or high water. Or Coronavirus. She'd only been in the house a matter of minutes before her breast care nurse rang. She's talking to her now.

  29. Thorough washing with soap and hot water is best, apparently, but hand sanitizer very useful as a protective barrier when out and about. I don't know that a harness stops pulling but it spreads the pulling area and makes it less of a tug of war. There is no way I could handle Wispa without one. It's good to have 2 leads, again to spread the pulling area. I have one to harness and one to neck, but 2 to harness is fine if you have 2 places to connect them. Mice have learned not only to take peanut butter bait and get out of traps, but had the cheek to drag some bits of stolen onion in there. When mice start using the trap as a handy storage area, you have the wrong trap. These are the multi-mouse traps that we caught so many in last year. This lot are obviously much smarter.

  30. I'd just like to say a big thank you to Griff who sent us a beautiful bouquet yesterday. Griff you are so kind and thoughtful. Ruby and I were most touched when it arrived. Thank you. Suzeanna thank you for your message. You are right. I believe that will happen. Thank you all. It takes another dog lover to truly know what you go through when we loose our pups.

  32. Hi everyone. Hope you all had a good Christmas ๐Ÿ˜Š Unfortunately, for a number of reasons, our home wasn't suitable for Lily, so she's being rehomed through a reputable rescue. One of their staff runs a collie group so Lil may be rehomed through them, which would be ideal for her as she'd love to do agility or flyball. Not an easy decision but I'm certain it's the right one for Jac and Lil. Jac appears to prefer older dogs as his new Bessie is a 13 year old collie cross called Bruno ๐Ÿฅฐ

  33. I'm glad to read that Wispa is improving Owl but sorry you missed the cattle drive. Eve I like the sound of haggis bon-bons. It's nice to have a sofa day every once in a while. I took Tye out this morning (bloody sick of numpty dog owners though who let their dogs run up to him when he's on-lead) and glad I did so early as the weather changed not long after. It's gone wet and cold. We were planning another walk this afternoon but decided to stay put. We might have a street walk before bed IF it isn't too wet. We are having a warm-up Xmas dinner tonight and then tomorrow I will make a Turkey and ham pie with the left overs. Have a nice evening everyone ๐Ÿ‘

  36. We are being home checked in the morning. Fingers crossed everyone. The house is a tip! It will show we are not precious about our stuff and if Tye pees on the carpet, he pees on the carpet. We've got a carpet shampooer. Oooh I've just given his name away haven't I? OK he's called Tyson, which is on my list of most hated names, so we are going to call him Tye. He looks like a Bernard really but he's too old for such a radical change of name and we are guessing he will have heard Tye before.

  37. I managed to get a sit and wait appt at the doctors, and said I thought it could possibly be connected to the change in my blood pressure medication, as the breathlessness had started then, but not the cough. He agreed, and said I shouldn't have been taken off the felodipine at all, as it opens up the blood vessels and makes the heart work more easily, and Ramipril, which the blasted woman doctor had doubled the dose of, is known for causing a cough and shortness of breath. He's put the meds back to what they were but said if it's not right in a few days go back, and if it's really bad ring an ambulance. He did say my lungs are clear, and my heart had a good steady beat, which is a miracle as I often suffer from atrial fibriallation! I hope it doesn't happen again, it really scared me. My dear old gran would have said I was wheezing like a broken down mare! Not coughing now, but ears aren't right. Well, one is left, but you know what I mean.

  38. That sounds perfect Owl Had my phone appointment with my own GP. First thing she said was "wow, you gave everyone a scare last week". Anyway she's booked me in to the asthma clinic on Tuesday just before my flu jab appointment but told me if I start having any sort of problem before then to call. Receptionists know to put me right through.

  39. Tesco delivery came today..a driver I haven't seen for ages. His first words? Oh, glad to see you're still alive! Yes, me too! He was the one who made a delivery the day after I'd been told I was now stage 4..and the next thing I knew he and a woman from Tesco arrived on the doorstep with a lovely bouquet of flowers. Made me cry, and her too apparently. Last conversation I had with a cop was after I was flashed by the local..flasher. Francis (cop) came to take my statement and we both got the giggles about it, especially when he said the suspect said he had an allergy and he got it out to cool it down!

  40. Hope all goes well, Eve. Yes, all ok here if somewhat surreal. Why are most of my conversations with the police? Why does some unknown woman in Texas send me nude videos? Why do I feel 90 on some days and 7 on others? These and many other questions may never be answered.

  42. You know what they say Snow..better a week too early rather than a day too late. If the poor lad is in pain, won't take his meds so the pain can't be relieved and his heart is worsening fast, I think the decision is being made for them. So sorry.

  43. Beautiful shoes, griff. You must have good balance to walk in them. I would faceplant. Things are settling down i my life. Ostrich egg omelette has duly landed on faces of those who well deserve it. Going for a last drive in old car up to river Torne near Epworth for a sunset stroll. Might as well use up the fuel and Wispa loves it there.

  44. at Suzeanne. George and I once chanced on a courting couple in a wood close to were we lived at the time. I had no choice but to walk past them as we were on a circular walk and had done 2/3rds of it by the time we got to them going at it against a tree. As George and I walked by I don't know what possessed me but I found myself saying "afternoon, nice day for it" Thank dawg George didn't feel the need to investigate! A cold nose up the chaps bum might have cooled his ardour a tad

  45. Am in France now. Was raining most of the way down yesterday so a slow drive but the dogs were really good and we stayed overnight at Clacket Lane services. Lovely weather in France today, warm and sunny but unfortunately that is the end of the good weather and rain is forecast for the next two weeks lol. Which is a pain as the garden is like a jungle. Already got 6 garden bags of weeds and managed to mow a quarter of the back lawn before I gave up exhausted. Can see lots of soggy gardening happening. Off to catch up now and see what you've all been up to xx

  46. Not hayfever is it Jazz? They are saying people who never had it are suddenly developing it. Ask someone to get you some antihistamine eye drops if you don't have them already. I emailed Philip to tell him the bird seed is coming today and got this back just now.. Found a note outside signed by all our visitors, both feathered and furry, saying โ€œ We are most disappointed with this feeding station. The availability of good quality nosh has declined over the last few days, to the point that we have visited and even the little tubes that hold our seed arenโ€™t even there. Please improve the service immediatelyโ€ Lucky me, found a man who's as mad as I am!
