owl
Everyone is different is their response to losing someone close to them, whether they are a human or an animal. There is no particular length of time for grief, and sometimes I feel really cut up all of a sudden for animals who went on their way years ago. I tend to well up every time I meet a big daft cuddly ginger and white cat like Solace, who went over the Bridge at a good age back in 2001.
buddyboy
If anyone does not grieve for their pet in some way I feel sorry for them - that animal was part of their family. Even my mother (who does not show ANY emotions) cried when our dogs died. In time you will be able to smile and laugh about some of the things Jess got up to - don't feel guilty when that happens because you will be honouring her memory with fun. She may not be around physically but she will live on in your heart forever.
