Imogen is a delightful, sociable 10 year old Staffy girl who came into our care after sadly finding herself in a stray pound. Imogen was due to be put to sleep as soon as her statutory 7 days were up as she had a large tumour on her side. Luckily for Imogen, a very kind associate of the Oldies Club knew of her plight and paid for the tumour to be removed and asked whether we could take Imogen into our care. Imogen's luck had changed! The tumour proved to be benign and Imogen is now in an Oldies Club foster home in Daventry, Northamptonshire.

The only thing Imogen needs now is a permanent loving home. She'd like a fairly quiet home where she can settle into a steady routine and feel secure after all she has been through. She is such a friendly girl that she would be happy to live with dogs, cats, and children of 7 years old plus. In fact, she would probably be happiest in a home where she has another dog or a cat for company.

Imogen loves other dogs. She is getting on well with her fosterer's two dogs: they play together and there are no problems at food or treat time.

Imogen likes cats. Her fosterer has two cats and one of them really likes Imogen and rubs against Imogen. Imogen might chase in a playful way if the cats run, but she doesn't want to harm them. She backs off if the cats tell her off. What a sweet girl!

Imogen likes children. She seems fine with children of all ages, but, as she has poor sight and hearing, she can be startled easily. Her foster carer therefore recommends only sensible children of 7 years plus.

Imogen enjoys walks and car travel. Imogen loves to go for a walk and does not pull. She hasn't been let off her lead though as she can't hear or see very well. She is very good in the car and settles well and goes to sleep.

Probably due to the upheaval of being in the pound and then moving to foster care, and probably for other reasons that we can only imagine, poor Imogen is taking a while to settle properly at her foster home. Her new owners will therefore need to be happy to give Imogen time and space to settle into her new life. Those special new owners will be rewarded with a sweet, friendly and affectionate companion.

Imogen sleeps well downstairs at night. She has been left for up to an hour during the day and on some occasions has been fine, but on others she has cried. Imogen sometimes cries and is unsettled even when her foster carer is around though. It is so sad to think that what she has been through might still be affecting her.

Her foster carer tells us more about her:

Imogen loves to be fussed. She would like to sit next to you all day having cuddles! Imogen likes food and treats and is currently a little overwieght. She also likes to have a play with my staffy. This involves a lot of pushing and headbutts, but it's just play. After a mad 10 mins or so they stop and have a rest! They will also stop when told to, but for Imogen you need to go in front of her and clap your hands to get her attention, but she will stop playing and look at you.

We will report on Imogen's vet-check when we get the information from her foster carer. We know that she doesn't see or hear too well, and she did have the tumour that was removed, but this was benign so nothing to worry about.

In summary, Imogen loves adults, children, cats and dogs. She sleeps well at night and is clean in the house. Imogen sometimes seems unsettled for an hour or so and cries out. Her foster carer is yet to work out why but is trying to and will ask the vet about this. For this reason, we want Imogen to go to a home with patient, understanding owners who have plenty of dog-owning experience.

Do you want to be the happy ending to Imogen's sad tale?
