owl
Fascinating, and thanks for sharing. What lovely dogs Don't need one of those devices for Wispa when she is on a trail, as the bit of her which isn't GSP compels her to keep an eye on me all the time. I often walk with a lady who has purebred GSPs, and they are away into the bracken and ignore her completely until she whistles them. We always know where they are, as Wispa keeps running out of cover to shout "we are over here, mum". Edited December 29, 2009 by owl

owl
It's a GPS for GSPs They are doing grouse counts, and the device radios back the locations at which they point. The data collected goes into a program which produces a grouse census.
