Benji, 11 Year Old Shih Tsu

This is little Benji, an 11 year old Shih Tsu who came into Oldies Club care when his owner became very ill. Benji, and his very impressive toy collection are in an Oldies Club foster home in Bristol.

 

Benji is quite a character and he likes to get to know people on his own terms. He isn’t a dog that you can instantly cuddle, but provided you are patient, when he does eventually come to you for the first time and ‘ask’ to be picked up, it will be worth the wait!!

 

His toys are his favourite thing. He loves playing with them, and he has plenty to choose from! He loves to squeak a toy and then bark at it.

 

Benji is blind in one eye and partially sighted in the other. Because of his poor sight he is frightened of new things, and he also cannot be rehomed with children due to this. He needs a quiet home. He is fine with dogs, but his foster carer thinks that he would rather be the only pet in his new home.

 

Benji has only been having very short walks so far in his foster home. He is very nervous in the car. He settles well at night though and is happy to sleep on his own.

 

 

Benji has been vet-checked and is now neutered, vaccinated, flea and worm treated, and micro chipped. Benji wasn’t in the best of health when he came into our care. He had a large lump removed as part of his neutering operation a few weeks ago and he has a heart murmur and needs a tablet twice a day for this.
