Snoopy is an adorable 14 yr old Spaniel x Beardie who came into Oldies Club care as his owner was no longer able to give him the care he needed. He is in an Oldies Club foster home in Newport, South Wales.

Snoopy is dog-friendly, travels well in the car and is good on the lead. He is a delicate boy though and needs a very calm, quiet home. Snoopy would like to live with another quiet, calm dog but would also be OK as an only dog if you could be with him most of the time. He is too frail to live with young children.

Sweet Snoopy is a real gentleman. He is very well-behaved, kind and gentle. He is undemanding, but he loves to be with you and will follow you around the house (and he does like a cuddle on your lap sometimes!). He likes to sleep in the bedroom with you at night.

Snoopy wasn’t in great condition when he came into our care but he has now been wormed and flea treated, vaccinated and microchipped and had a full vet-check. He has also had to have his coat clipped off but it is starting to grow back. As you can see, he was well-behaved but not too impressed with the experience!:

Snoopy had one of his hip joints removed about 8 years ago which has left him rather weak with muscle wastage on his back end. He was in a lot of pain and discomfort from his arthritis when he arrived and didn’t like to be touched in that area. He also has a weak front leg which can give way now and again, especially coming down stairs or on uneven ground.

Our vet has prescribed medication for Snoopy’s arthritis and his foster carer tells us that he is now a different dog to the one that arrived with her:

“He is a much brighter, happier old thing now that he is not in pain, and he likes nothing more than going out in the car to the fields. In true spaniel style he has his nose to the ground and just loves to go into the bushes for a good sniff around. He gets very excited when we go out now and barks and cries with joy at the start of the walk. In fact, he doesn’t walk any more, but insists on trotting and running in his funny little hop and a skip way. It’s really funny!

He is quite deaf so you have to make sure he can see you at all times so that he doesn’t lose you. He does look back here and there to keep an eye on you

Despite the vast improvement in his health, Snoopy is still quite a fragile old man and definitely couldn’t take any knocks or bumps. He deserves a very special, calm home where he can enjoy the quiet life. But at least now he is really enjoying himself, free from the pain he was in.”

Note: On veterinary advice, Snoopy will not be neutered, because of his age and fragile condition.

If you are looking for a calm, handsome, loving, well-behaved, funny companion, Snoopy will fit the bill perfectly.

As Snoopy is a frail old chap with some longer term health problems we have decided that he will stay in his current foster home as an Oldies Club sponsor dog, so is no longer available for rehoming.
