Sadie is a beautiful 14 year old crossbreed who is desperately looking for a new home after the death of her owner. She is in an Oldies Club foster home in Feltham, Middlesex where she is still under assessment, but we will be pleased to receive enquiries about her.

Before coming into the care of the Oldies Club, Sadie had been left alone 24 hours a day for four weeks, with people just popping in to see her. The poor girl was left feeling very miserable and bewildered. After everything that she has been through, Sadie really deserves to find a loving retirement home where she will receive the care and attention that she needs.

Sadie is a lovely girl who is very, very friendly with everyone that she meets. She behaved like a perfect lady on a recent trip to the vets and didn’t grumble at all, even giving the vet an affectionate lick when it was time to go! She is an extremely loving dog and craves human company, which is hardly surprising after her recent ordeal.

Sadie is good with other dogs and has excellent doggy etiquette: she’s friendly but not pushy. She is also good with the children that she has met and would make an excellent family addition. Equally, she would also suit a retired couple or a single person, as she forms bonds with people easily.

Sadie is very gentle and will happily sit still whilst you groom her, giving you the occasional lick of encouragement. She is a very easy going dog and is quite happy to fit around your routine. If you are relaxing in front of the TV she will happily sit with her head on your lap and snooze the day away, but she also likes to follow you around the house if you are on the move and enjoys helping with household duties. She particularly likes to supervise meal times and is more than happy to get her paws dirty by hoovering up any scraps; she is the perfect house guest.

Due to her previous owner’s ill health, poor Sadie hasn’t been exercised properly for nearly seven years. As a result she is a little on the chubby side and needs to build up the muscle tone in her back legs. However, what she lacks in ability she makes up for with enthusiasm and determination and is gradually building up her walking time, which is strengthening her legs and helping to get her back in shape.

As Sadie has spent a lot of time on her own in recent years she can become anxious when left. She is never destructive and doesn’t bark, but she does have a little cry. Due to this, her new owners will need to be able to spend some time settling her in and giving her plenty of reassurance.

Sadie is currently sharing her foster home with two cats, but she does like to bark at them through the window. She doesn’t seem to mean them any harm as her tail wags furiously as she does this, but as this may unsettle some, she would probably be best suited to a cat-free home, or a home with a dog-confident cat that will ignore her, or put her in her place.

Sadie is spayed, flea-treated, wormed and has had her first vaccination. She has been prescribed some painkiller/anti-inflammatory tablets for her back legs to take away any discomfort and encourage her to get moving, but it’s hoped that once she loses some weight and gets a bit fitter she may not need these. She has conjunctivitis at the moment so has some eye drops for that.

Despite her age, Sadie is still very energetic and her tail is always wagging with excitement. She likes nothing more than being lavished with lots of fuss and attention and in return likes to give gentle kisses of appreciation. After everything that she has been through in life Sadie deserves to find a home with a special owner that will love and cherish her for the rest of her days. In return the lucky person that adopts her will be rewarded with a very loyal and loving friend.
