lazydaisy
My dog Harri is on a bland diet because of his ulcer. I have cooked too much rice and wondered if I could freeze it??

lazydaisy
yes (and for human use) but once defrosted, use up asap Would the rice be ok for a few days, or would it have to be used on the day its defrosted? Dont want to give Harri food posioning on top of everything else.
jacqui d
I cook a huge pot of rice and break down in to invividual portions for freezing, they can be in the freezer for up to a month as i use them for several different meals for us and mix with tuna for the dogs, i usualy take them out of the freezer the night before i need them and defrost in the fridge, once defrosted, they need to be used the same day and reheated properly in the micro or on the pan
mooandboo
Freeze the portion size you'll use in separate bags and then you won't need to keep it any longer than the day it's defrosted. Also, make sure that you defrost it in the fridge to be extra safe oops, beat me to it jacqui Edited September 15, 2008 by mooandboo
