Happylittlegreensquirrel
Aisling ( pronounced Ashling ) often gets called Aze ling more than once people have asked me why I did'nt spell it as Ashling or Aishling to make it easier for people to read. Aisling is an Irish word with an historic meaning so for me it was very important to spell it correctly ( ironic given I spell most things wrong ) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aisling
nouggatti
Some people over here spell it Ashling Sam! Even worse, it can also be spelt Aisling, or Aishling!
sonnyjim
I'm a Fionnuala but pretty much always have to shorten it to Finn as it's too much grief otherwise It can be tricky when you're young but wouldn't change it for the world
suzeanna
One of my nieces is Mhairi...but its pronounced Varri. I always thought it must have been very confusing when she was learning to spell...M is muh....no, my M is vuh!

Happylittlegreensquirrel
this has just made me remember an exchange my parents used to have re names Grandfather Squirrel: Jaysus would you look at that Grandma Squirrel: My names not Jaysus Grandfather Squirrel : I married a fecking comedian not really relevant but I had not thought of it in ages and it's making me giggle ( they were so funny together ) I will also come back later to explain how my father and his brother ended up with the same name on their birth certificate and the unique and very Irish way his family dealt with it ( this sorry involves drunken Irish aunties )
