Re the Irish council ban

Sunday World newspaper 22/7/07

CORK PLANS A DOG BAN

Cork County Council looks set to follow the lead of DCC

and ban dangerous dogs from council properties.

Speaking this week local CLLR Tim Lombard claimed

that the authority should ban some breeds of dog

including the American pit bull terrier, the German Sheppard and Rottweilers.

A motion on the issue looks set to be debated at the

next meeting of the authority in September.

also a few posts further down

Hate to add this but was speaking to someone from environmental health in my local council yesterday (England) and they mentioned they were also considering this type of Ban on specific breeds of dogs.... :o

and a further post

DNB is very concerned about the possibility of Councils in the United Kingdom implementing similar bans to the ones in Ireland, therefore we are also urging people to write to their Councils and their MP's expressing their feelings.

OMFG!! When will this end!! :mecry: :mecry:

Is there a script or something we can reference to reword and send to our MPs?

I will definately send letters to my surrounding councils. :(

Link to the "Please help DNB, write to your MP" post on the BSL forum. Thanks for asking safneo! :flowers:

It's stuff like this which is the exact reason for the existence of DeedNOTBreed. We've got to act NOW before it is too late and councils left right and centre are jumping on the bandwagon of "wanting to be seen to be doing things", even though they don't have the foggiest what they are on about.

We're a very young organisation still, and we're really busy developing long term strategies and plans of action, so please bear with us! We do, however, NEED YOUR SUPPORT!!! Try as we might, without a large group of dedicated supporters, who are willing to help us fight these draconian new measures, we won't be able to achieve a lot of what we are aiming for. Please keep checking the Breed Specific Legislation forum for developments and ideas of what you can do. We need the involvement of all responsible dog owners to avert this threat to not just a few breeds but to eventually ALL dogs, regardless of breed!

Thanks a million in advance! :flowers: :flowers:
