Abby
Last week we noticed Dylan was scratching his tummy a lot and when we looked we found a few very pink patches. We gave him a few baths in hibiscrub and the itching stopped and the pink patches are gone. But in the last few days he has started chewing his hindquarters - you know that really intense nibbling grooming type thing? I've looked and looked and been through his fur with a fine comb but can't find any unwelcome friends or sore patches at all, or even tender areas when I'm grooming him. It's driving him nuts though, and me cos I don't know what to do about it. Any ideas of what it might be ??
Rileyroo
Could it be anal gland problems?
Dizzycharm
I would second that. A lot of dogs chew their hindquarters when their anal glands are full.
merledogs
Could be allergies as well, vet should be able to pinpoint it
DanishPastry
Indy did this and it was anal glands, Akita does it when her allergies flare up.
phoenix
pippa used to do this when she had fleas as she has a allergy to them, she used to pull her fur out too, and make her skin red raw thankfully frontline has sorted this problem
