  1. Hope you get your car sorted Alex. I reversed into a wall at the pub one time when we went for pub grub. Did it when we arrived and I never drink and drive anyhow. I paid for it to be repaired myself as I didn't want to loose my no claims. I wasn't going to bother as it was an old car, but every time I looked at it it reminded me of my stupidity. Your situation s entirely different.
  2. What a fabulous area to retire to Alex. I never realised that housing was so cheap over that way. We have been there with the caravan and the dogs and there are lots of lovely beaches, spoilt for choice really.
  3. I would absolutely love to have a puppy and have been hankering after one for a while now. Sadly, sensible head has been put on, but only since my husband is 75 and I am 70, so it just wouldn't be practical. We could manage a pup fine, but just can't really say we will be here for another 15 years to outlive any new addition. All the puppy madness doesn't put me off at all, it's just the old age thing. This is one of the great sadnesses of my life and one which I will never get used to.
  4. Sam (Happylittlegreensquirrel) if you are about, can you still do a spay for £12. Thinking of an early Christmas present from me to me sort of thing. Not sure if you can still do them for such a small amount.
  5. Great news Snow :cheer: :cheer: You must be so relieved.
  6. Snow - so sorry your recall resulted in your having to have these tests. Hope upon hope that it is cysts, but whatever, the earlier it is caught the easier it is to treat. The tears are better out than in, so you have a good cry if that's how you feel. It's very understandable all things considered. Your results should be through fairly quickly and if necessary they do any treatment required quite quickly. I have had a couple of scares myself, but mine turned out to be nothing, but the waiting was pretty awful. Hoping your results are not as bad as you might be expecting.
  7. Snow you have quoted as having saved a dollar amount. If this is the case and your order is coming from across the pond, then you will have to pay VAT or import tax plus the post office also charge a handling fee. I got caught out on that one on a fairly small order and it added a considerable amount to the cost of the item.
  8. I can see very little other than staffie there. Maybe something else thrown in the mix as she is quite slight, but then she hasn't fully grown yet.
  9. Welcome home Nogbad the Bad. Well done Griff's pup for two dry nights.
  10. Sorry about the tooth Snow. I think I read somewhere that you can buy a temporary repair kit for teeth at the chemist. Pleased you will have Nog home soon where he belongs. Great news that your OH has decided to keep half a sack of dog food, but this is a very hopeful sign. The house is just so empty without a dog in it. Pleased Archie was a good boy with his DW and you will get your break away from home.
  11. So sorry Snow. There are no words to take away your pain.
  12. Sending good thoughts to Nog and his worried Mum & Dad. Hope they can get him sorted soon.
  13. Glad Garfy's passing was a quiet one. I often think it is the final act of kindness we can show them to let them slip away peacefully and be free from pain.
  14. Owl I hadn't realised that the situation had got to the stage where you had to sell your pod. Was this caused by your 'silly' neighbour? I hope things settle down soon for you and you are able to live comfortably. Things will be quieter for now while Mum is in hospital, but of course you then need to fit in time for visits.
  15. So hope it works out well with your new little person Jazz.
  16. So sorry Loobie. Are your boys there to offer you some support?
  17. Owl, I had pneumonia shortly after I had the operation to remove my kidney. I had a couple of days in intensive care and it cleared very quickly. Hope your Mum has as quick a recovery. I had to wear all sorts of nebulisers and masks and had various medication.
  18. Owl it is not at all selfish of you to have a few hours to yourself. You need to keep yourself well both physically and mentally to be able to help your Mum. Well done Snow on managing to keep the dogs apart. It's such a shame when it's like that. Much better kept apart than needing a vet visit.
  19. Owl it is so difficult to watch our parents disappear before our eyes and must be much more so when no one else seems to understand or be able to notice it. My Mum had dementia in her later years and as much as I told her Doctor and even the hospital when she had various spells in there, no one but me seemed to be able to see it. I would arrange care visits and as soon as I returned home which was over 200 miles away, she would tell them not to come any more. It would appear that even those with dementia must be allowed to decide for themselves how to run their lives. The theory I suppose might be good, but in practice it is not so. I hope you manage to get out now and again with Wispa so it does not affect you too badly.
  20. What a truly lovely thought and much more what Christmas should be about.
  21. Sending Alex hugs and I hope Garfy decides he would like sausages for his breakfast. Hugs for those missing their best friends who have passed so recently.
  22. So sorry Griff. Night night Diez. So much sadness on the boards this near to Christmas.
  23. Words are just not enough. Wish I could take a share of your pain and lessen your grief. Sending you hugs.
  24. Oh Owl your poor Mum and poor you having to see it all. It's hard to watch them disappearing in front of our eyes.
