  1. Laura he has indeed been rehomed and I saw him tonight Have just come back with my Oldies Club EBT Piggy (aka Cassie) from a truely lovely follow up visit for oldies staffy Peggy. I am so annoyed that I forgot my camera as Peggy and Piggy are like two old bookends lol. Have to say she is looking just wonderful, is Peggy. Beautiful glossy coat, so very content and oh so happy with her lot. She has two beds and her own armchair in the living room depending on whether she prefers to be high up, on the floor or by the fire that day. She is clearly adored by her Mum and Dad and vice versa. Another real Oldies Club success story I'd say . Piggy thought Peggy was smashing too. So as of yesterday, they have a new addition, Chico a little red SBT. Was thrilled to not only hear but see for myself just how well him and Peggy get on. Peggy who loves other dogs is quite made up with her toyboy and despite her grand old age is quite up for a bit of playing and infact insists on it. Chico meanwhile is so gentle with her, what a good boy and he also seems genuinely delighted to be with her. I must admit I shed a few tears on the way home. That little Chico fair broke my heart, ridiculous really as he has got the best Mum and Dad ever and is going to go on to have a wonderful life with them. But oh has he had a bum deal up until now. He's as thin as a rake and has callous's. Clearly he has never lived in a house or a least in the living areas of a house. At the moment he is most perplexed about things like TV's and stairs and wets himself with fear when someone comes down the stairs or switches the TV on etc etc. However that said you can also see that already he is thrilled to bits with many parts of this new setup. He grins non stop at you and although he has been a very scared boy is already coming up to you for hugs and kisses, which he can't now get enough of once he gets into the swing of things. He is also so keen to do the right thing, it is incredibly endearing. His new Dad spent last night downstairs on the sofa with him. I don't think either of them got a winks sleep because apparently he was so thrilled to be with someone he kept waking his Dad up every hour to tell him so with a big snog or two Wish I could personally find many more homes like this one. I must try harder!
  2. Hello I made a little photo video thingy of my bullie girls and thought I would post it in case anyone might be interested or needed a bull terrier fix. I adore them From your resident lurker Hx
  3. I know of her and I'm so sorry. I think a male would be better for our household right now . I have been looking at staffys tonight and to be honest it's totally overwhelming (tears not for me! but for all those waiting for a home). better news is I hear on the grapevine Chico staff may well be off to his new fab home tomorrow providing introductions go well
  4. Well I'll let you in to a little secret of mine. I think this is a first for me, and that is the husband actively harassing me to add another bull terrier into the household! So I have started tentatively looking as I warm to the idea . I think it will take us sometime as unfortunately having all these other dogs and cats as well means we are after a special sort of staffy. Ideally I'd love one that is not only happy with other dogs but would very much enjoy living with others. Having two bullie girls already and then the three soppy labs, a male staffy I feel sure would be best. I remember when we had oldie staffy Taff all those years ago now and just how much Aggie staffy adored him. We're not too fussed about age but then having said that I think I would rather have one that still has a few years to go, so middle aged and below I guess. I hope we are able to find one and I hope we can truely offer him a wonderful home. I really don't mind waiting for the right dog. Anyway, just thought I'd share and hope you don't think us a little mad....
  5. My Oldies Club girl Piggy (aka Cassie) and I are off to visit Little oldie staffy Peggy next week. She was the dear girl who was handed into the vets to be pts and was desperately thin. Anyway thanks to her Fosterers and her Mum and Dad all that is behind her now. Can't wait to see her again. I have also just heard from Peggy's Mum and Dad that they are going to adopt another staffy - WooHoo . Not an oldie this time but a terribly worried and timid stafford called Chico. More information on him here: http://www.dogsblog.com/chico-12/ I cannot think of a better home for him, I really can't Thrilled I am!
  6. As above. Love to you and Milly
  7. Photos on the link following are from the Denver News Blog. According to Denver's banned list it includes any dog displaying the majority of the physical traits of an American Pit Bull Terrier, an American Staffordshire Terrier or staffordshire Bull Terrier or in fact "any dog displaying the majority of physical traits of any one or more of the above breeds." http://blogs.westword.com/latestword/2009/10/leaked_photos_of_dead_pit_bull.php
  8. Keeping absolutely everything crossed. Oh please, please let him be free.

  10. WOW Mindy, check out your pins! You look amazing
  11. I have only just seen this. I'm so embarrased not to have replied earlier! Thank you And thank you for the VERY gorgeous card Ange (weel I would say that since a. you took it and b. it's of Barney). Well worth the wait
  12. How is the little sweetie today? Thinking of you both loads and loads
  13. Oh Milly, Oh Alex I had no idea just how much the pair of you have been through recently Bless her little cotton socks (all three of them ). Sounds like she is doing brilliantly under the circumstances. She's made of stern stuff alright and clearly thinks she'd like to stay right here with her Mum thank you very much. I will keep following this and hope for better and better news as time goes on. Much love to you and your very special girl, who is and has always been one of my most favourite ever dogs on here , Hx
  14. Well we counted up the money and we raised £1610 Now just to complicate things, my partner in crime (friend Anna), has suggested we split the funds between yourselves and the Dogs Trust so that the DT gets the extra £110 over the £1500 as they donated out of their own funds Rosettes for the day. I do get that and I hope it is OK with everyone. So just waiting on one Sponsors cheque of £25 (hurry up god damn you!) and then we can post you £750 to this address yes?: The Treasurer Oldies Club 49A Kinross Close Cinnamon Brow Warrington Cheshire WA2 0UT
  15. clever girl You must come next year so I can have the pleasure of meeting them and see Duncan in action
  16. Those are beautiful photos Ange. Goodness I'm so glad you were there on the day with your camera The black and tan and white dog on his/her's owners lap is wonderful. Wish I'd seen the GSD man, I heard many good things about him You'd have been in heaven, there were loads of the little terrorists about lol! They did very well in the terrier racing coming 1st, 2nd and 3rd beating all the JRT's and the like. How would the two D's have faired do you think?
  17. Oh Ange that photo! I was absolutely thrilled at kassi's Best in Show. The Best Child Handler won with an EBT so the bull terriers had a very good day. Amazing really for such a rural area where the favoured dogs are labs and springers and the like, and is what the Judges at our show are most likely to see on a day to day basis. Whilst every dog there was worthy of a prize and I certainly couldn't of picked the winners, I thought it was rather nice to see such good PR for the bullies Glad staffiezone had a good day and am like WOW at the good amount raised at the Oldies Club stall - that is brilliant. Was really annoyed to have 6 confirmed stalls not show up and all but one not tell me in the morning! Would've rearranged the whole layout if I'd known. Next year I think I'll do 'first come, first served' kind of thing. It's all a bit of a learning curve tbh. Goodness I'm rambling now, apologies lol. Was so lovely to raise some cash for one of my very favourite charities. Will give you a proper total in a day or two and the money to you ASAP. Hx
  18. HUGE, HUGE thank you for coming today, particulalry as the weather was not that brilliant! Just wanted to let you know that we did a quick count up and we have raised £1500 plus for the Oldies Dogs and Dogs Trust, which is up on last year. So that means at least £750 to the Oldies Club A certain person who posts on here and their lovely staffy took Best in Show today (Sandi and Cassie ). So well done to them. Was lovely to see the recently rehomed Oldies Club Mattie and her new Mum and Dad who just adore her and lovely that she came won a rosette in Best rescue Thanks again for coming Oldies Club and of course Ange, Rob and Minne Moo. Hx
  19. Wow Melp, thank you. Fantastically useful and encouraging information. I'll pass it on
  20. Am loving the new board Pingu, thank you Haven't posted as much in ages since it was launched
  21. Well done those two Poms, bless them . That's very encouring to hear Suzanna. Most certainly if this cav were mine I don't think I couldn't try an alternative but that's not to say the owner is wrong not to do so. However, I do know money is an issue and hope that this isn't clouding their judgement. Although if the money's not there....
  22. Thank you fifer. I appreciate the link and will pass that on for sure
