    Meet Dog

Am hopeless with names but kind of like Twinkle How is this lovely boy doing?
  4. Yes I do! lol Huge 's to both Ben and Shadow. Sounds like Ben has been very brave indeed I am happy today. Happy because a little staffy I took to her new Foster Carers yesterday has settled in with them really well. They are only a mile from me, a lovely couple who lost their oldie spaniel recently. I have to say whilst the husband had always fancied a staffy, the wife wasn't so keen but was happy enough to give fostering one a go, bless her. This little staffy was so depressed in kennels waiting for her new family to come along. Anyway I get a phonecall update this afternoon from the wife. It starts off really lovely about how little staffy Billie has been very good and how they moved her bed in to their bedroom with them last night as they were worried that she might be anxious and how she has been really sweet etc etc and then, she says "could we adopt her, we've really fallen for her"! Oh bless them, and this is only 24hrs later and from someone who wasn't that sure about staffys in the first place lol. So I've told them to wait until after the weekend, just to be sure but I have a good, good feeling that Billie will be spending the rest of her days in the countryside a mile from me ;-) Anyway sorry for the rambling but it really made my day
  5. Thank you Laura Elricc, can I second a princess pink style for my little staffy and EBT princess's too, that would be wonderful. They desperately needs a couple of lovely new collars
  6. You are one lovely, special lady An auction on here would be brilliant, if only because Claire's having many problems with the WSBTR website at the moment and I know she was trying to put an auction page on it and failing miserably! That would be wonderful if you could do that and send them out. I cannot thank you enough and will let Claire at WSBTR know about your wonderful offer
  7. A HUGE thank you to you all for your posts and your donations, what lovely people you are. The vets bill is already four figures and rising so I know every donation made has meant so much to wsbtr Sorry not to have posted anything for the last couple of days, it seems my PC doesn't like this forum much as it sometimes won't let me in I went to see this little chap today. Am blown away at what a weeks worth of care, love and food can do . He is looking so much better. He is though wobbly on his legs, due to having absolutely no muscle whatsoever. In fact the vet thinks it must've been months or longer since he was ever walked or exercised. That said he's a real little fighter. He had loads more tests yesterday as they are a little concerned about any long term damage to his internal organs due to the malnourishment and dehydration but they are feeling positive about him. The biggest concern is his heart at the moment which is making an odd 'whoosing sound', again it is thought to be connected to the lack of muscle and strain it was under. Despite all he has been through, he is the most loving, sweet natured little dog you could ever meet . The RSPCA are proceeding with a prosecution, which is good and I sincerely hope it amounts to more thn a slap on the wrist . Apparently the wife of these kind people who rescued him, was confronted with a complete tw*t of a man who owned him who said "dog is a pain in the *rse" but they could have him for £200! Fortunately the kind husband was quite large, and went round and said "no, dog is coming right now and you're getting nothing". No violence or anything like that, he was just large enough to make the complete tw*t think twice and relinquish the dog from his hell hole (a crate in a dark box room affair). The vet said he wouldn't have lasted another 48hours, so thank god they got him out in time! BTW I wanted to use something other than Tw*t, which I think is very generous of me but nothing seems bad enough to describe this *rsehole I took some photos of Patchy today. Hope you like them:
  8. Oh wow that would be amazing. Thank you so much

  10. OMG that is amazing! Wishing special Susie a VERY Happy Gotcha Day indeed
  11. So many of you have been kind enough to send Patchy 'good wishes' on the RMF Thread here, I thought that perhaps he deserved his own post. Rather than use my own words, I've copied and pasted Claire's from Wiltshire Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue, where he is now being cared for. Health & Justice for Patchy Patchy is a three year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier Dog who was seized from a house where he had been locked in a crate, left starving in his own urine and faeces. (You would think he had tan fur on his legs and chest wouldn't you, but you'd be wrong, that is the damage caused to his skin and fur caused by laying in... urine soaked bedding)! At the time that Patchy was removed from that house he weighed 10.2Kg. A dog of his age, weight and build should weigh around 16-17Kg. To give you an idea, when Patchy came into the rescue he weighed little more than my Husband's Jack Russell Terrier. Appart from being chronically malnourished and dehydrated he also has demodex mange and a number of skin leisions. Patchy was so hungry he had started to eat his own tail! Patchy currently needs 24hr care and attention. He is on Anti-biotics and a number of other treatments. Our vet says that it will take two - three months to get him back on his Paws properly. We desperately need to raise funds for Patchy and any donation you can send will be greatly appreciated. Every penny will be spent on Patchy's medical and feeding requirements. Even after everything he has been though, his tail is still wagging and we at Wiltshire Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue are determined to make him well again and to ensure that his previous owner is held to account over this neglect and should never be allowed to keep an animal again. More information can be found on Patchy's Facebook page here http://www.facebook.com/WSBTR?v=wall ----end---- He has a lovely, lovely Foster home down the lane from me to go to but that won't be possible for another week or two as he is still too poorly to be moved. We are keeping everything crossed that this dear little chap pulls through so he can finally discover that a 'real home' means love, care and attention FOREVER. To end here is the latest update on Patchy from Claire today: Sun 21st March: Patchy continues to make progress, albeit slowly, and seems totally overawed by what is happening to him. I suspect he has seen very little of the outside world as, even though his is three years old, his eyes are still 'puppy-blue'! Our vet says this is probably due to limited exposure to daylight and that this should rectify itself in a month or so if he makes it. He is eating a solid diet now, (Royal Canin Sensitive Puppy), six meals x 200gramms / day. The food is literally swallowed whole, not chewed, although he does seem to be slowing down somewhat. One of the main problems is that he has obviously forgotten how to drink and I am having not only to soak the food, but also to feed water with a syringe! He can now walk about 20-40 metres without being distressed and does try a 'lollopy little trot' but he hasn't the muscle to be coordinated yet and ends in a heap! We will keep his exercise little & often and see how we go. ----end---- I know he is one of so many dogs neglected and abused but it would be wonderful if you could please keep Patchy in your thoughts too .
  12. Couldn't have put it better myself and ditto that. Hope your day picks up this horrid, grey weather never helps either. Thinking of you Melf and your gorgeous oldie
  13. Owl, Patchy is doing as well as can be expected. He is still critical and the vets says even if he looks OK it is tragically possible with all that he has been through that he could pass away in his sleep in these next ten days. It appears that he may never have seen daylight. His eyes have that bluish colour and he finds it hard to adjust to light, although he is not blind. It is also clear that he has not seen much of the outside world and is truely staggered at new smells, noises and sight. Apparently the clouds in the sky alone fascinate him! Please keep your fingers crossed for this little boy, it would be so cruel for him not to get the opportunity of the loving home he deserves
  14. Re. Patchy, he had been locked in a crate, starved and left to lay down in his own urine and faeces . This is what has turned the fur on his legs orange. On Tuesday some kind local person found out about him and offered to take him off their hands ad got in contact with the rescue. Thank goodness they did as apparently he was close to death being very dehydrated and malnourished.
  15. Oooo nice erm, knickers Alex Here is Patchy:
  16. RMF: embarrasing moment of the week. I have been very lucky in recent times to not have one of the above for some while. I made up for this fact on Tuesday. After leaping out of bed early and being desperate for a coffee and knowing we had no milk, it all went down hill from there..... I arrive some minutes later at the local village shop, still with last nights mascara around my eyes but safe in the knowledge that the BO basher had be applied and teeth cleaned so I wasn't going to be too repugnant to anyone . Chatted away to a couple of locals about the state of the weather - good & sunny. Helped Mrs Muggins out of the door and found my milk and went to the cashier. Yes all was well with the world and a decent milky coffee was just round the corner now. Oh but hang on what's this? "Have you got a bit of toilet roll under your shoe?", asks the lovely cashier. "I don't think so", I reply. But then I look down and yes I do see something, which may have been daz white once but now was definately smog grey and is trailing along the floor, albeit only a short way. "Ah" I say, "it's a handkechief" (sp). Am still smiling at this point. I then bend down to remove said item and to my horror, my absolute horror, notice that it is not such an innocent item as a hanky BUT an old pair of white G-strings that must have got caught round my trainers as I hurriedly dressed *wibble* . I manage to keep at bay the hyperventilation, just and squeak out "nope just a hanky, as I said" and quickly scoop up said item and put it in my pocket, and leave, very, very rapidly for home... bl**dy marvellous
  17. Oh my, he's stunning Celeste *swoon* Oh I do love him. Thank you for posting his photo Poor little staffy. Hope he recovers ok to have a good new life. Oh I so hope he does Michelle. He could have such a wonderful life ahead and I just so want him to have that chance.
  18. I'm so sorry about Henry, what a huge worry for you Cheryl Celeste, am v much liking the sound of Ben Rottie chaos at Pingu's sounds like fun lol! RMF: am more gutted than a gutted thing. Patchy didn't make it over today to his new Foster home. He went to the vets this morning as there was concern over him and the vet says he is too ill to be moved. He weighs only 10.2kg, which is about half the weight for a staffy. Poor, poor little loveApparently he loved everyone at the vets and was giving them all kisses. Dogs are so forgiving aren't they? Fair breaks your heart it does. Wiltshire Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue are going to pursue a neglect case against the previous owner.
  19. Celeste I have to ask, who is Ben? I know you have Daisy duck of doom (soon to be mine) and gorgeous Spud but Ben?
