  3. ooooooooh - can't believe I missed this. Happy first gotcha day to a very very very special wee lad. He has come so far and taught you so much Billy, another nervous soul who decided to help us humans
  4. Hey peeps, I've realised that my guys collars are getting a bit tatty and I suppose they might be asking for new ones from Santa Paws They have beautiful party collars from Laura already (two each!) but I'm looking for hardwearing everyday collars. I only use martingale fabric collars as they have been known to slip out and have had a horrid experience with the clip collars undoing beside a field of sheep Currently they wear Lupine stuff which is amazingly hard wearing and brilliant. The H-harnesses and leads from them are still in great nick, but because Lupine changes their designs I can't just buy more of the same collars and I don't really fancy their patterns 'this season' So, hardwearing, tough (good to survive swimming in the lochs and sea, hill climbing and bramble bashing) all fabric martingale collar suggestions please!
  5. So - anyone up for a really exciting challenge next year??? Welsh 3000 - 15 Peak Challenge in 24 hours more info here
  6. KellyKhanu so sorry to hear you've got problems, that really does suck. Any chance of getting some good physio rehab as it will speed things up hugely. I know you know this, but if it needs rest then that needs to be proper rest Update'iness from me Monday 4 x 4.5mile bike commute - working on increasing cadence on the bike and definitely feeling it in my quads by the third trip! Tuesday Bike to and from dentist (fast pace) 6.9miles round trip (didn't realise it was that far!) Bike into work (pm) 4.5 miles Run home (pm) 4 miles running 40mins 18 seconds *one of the challenges with this run is the timing of it, it means I'm running when usually my body is about to start demanding dinner! This time I scarfed a gel right before starting out but about the 3 mile mark I was starting to get low blood sugar feelings. However, since I HAD to get home I managed to keep going and actually pushed past it, first time thats ever really happened
  7. I have a dilemma - am having homemade chilli for dinner but I don't have any greens, usually chilli is best with steamed greens in my house. Instead I have cauliflower or Brussels sprouts....which to choose???
  8. watching the Gary Glitter drama but am rather disappointed with it so far.

  14. sending you much love Jules Do you have anything planned for while Chris is away? Just thinking that it might help you to have some social stuff to keep you from drowning in the grief? Its always okay to grieve and express your feelings, but remember you need support and love from us on here, and 'real' people too

  16. Bumpity bump coz this thread was reeeealy far down Weighed myself end of last week - 11st 5lbs and thats despite feeling like I wasn't eating well enough so I am encouraged to keep going. I think I would quite like to be down to 11st for Xmas'ish time, but not getting obsessive about it, plus am likely to be stuffing my face with Billy's excellent flapjacks later this week
  17. Weighed myself on Thursday - 11st 5lbs Saturday (definitely feeling the workout at the gym, I am such a wimp!) Planned day off - just two gentle bike rides of about 4 miles total in and out of town Sunday planned a long run but gale force winds and rain really were not pleasant to run in. Dogs and I managed just under 30 mins then went home to have a bath Monday am Swim: 200 swim/200 kicking 3x100m with 60sec RI to test T-pace 200m swim to finish 100m times: 2.08 / 2.02 / 2.04 = 2.05 average 100m pace Major challenge now is finding the time to get longer workouts in - which if I want to do more than sprint distance races I have to manage...
  18. Wishing you lots and lots of luck on Sunday Billy Update from me! Tuesday 4 x 4.5mile trips to and from work on the bike, pushed it hard most of the way on all of them and really feeling it today in my calves! Wednesday AM swim: 300m warm-up, 4 x 100m at good pace with 30sec recovery, 100m cool down PM run (new group) : to be completed.... brilliant fun - did a nice steady 3mile run in 29mins Thursday: easy bike into work (4.5 miles) Fast 1 mile to dentist in afternoon 40min good pace bike home in evening Friday Went to the gym for first time in a year or so - aiming to build tri specfic muscle fitness and it was fairly good fun, though it definitely required heavy metal on the iPod for motivation Cardio: 15 mins on X trainer and 5 mins steady rowing Weights: Leg press (25kg for 20 reps x 3) seated lat pull down (25kg x 20 x 3) chest press *ouch!* (7.5kg x 15 x 3) seated row (10kg x 20 x 3) leg extension *super ouch burny* (10kg x 10 x 3)
