  1. That would be great; thank you Thanks Vicki
  2. I live in Glossop, but work in Sheffield and come home at weekends. Currently I have a cat sitter, but I am looking for a lodger who would be able to look after the cats during the week while I'm away, in return for a reduced rent and the bills being paid. I am registered with a number of flatshare sites and have tried gumtree, but haven't found anyone suitable. Do any of you know of a site that specialises in pet friendly shares? I don't mind if the lodger brings along their own pet, as long as they like cats.
  3. When Oscar gets a bone or other delight, he takes it upstairs to his bed; so far so good. He then goes to the bathroom, pulls a towel off the radiator with his teeth, carries it to his bed and covers said treat with it. Ingenious, yes. Helpful, when you get out of the bath sopping wet, no. Still, his treat is safe from being stolen and that's the main thing!
  4. You're not wrong there. Andrew and I encountered a collie and her owner, Oscar was overjoyed and bouncing around, as is customary when he sees another dog. The collie owner asked how old my puppy was, to which I had to answer, four!
  5. Oscar has many unwanted skills, bless him. Here are a random few. 1, opening the patio door and letting himself into the garden 2, opening boxes of chocolates and helping himself (blatantly in front of me!) 3, sniffing out his Christmas presents, opening them and eating them 4, sniffing out other people's presents, opening them and eating them 5, when visiting friends, making a beeline for any pretty young girls and resting his head on their boobs 6, jumping into the neighbours garden, scratching at their door and persuading them to feed him biscuits, whilst I'm trying the hang washing out. If only he'd use his brain for good instead of mischief. Have any of your dogs got skills that they could well do without!
  6. Every year me and my equally optimistic friend, Kate, take our dogs, Oscar and Browser, to Pets at Home to choose their Christmas presents. This is followed by a drive-through McDonalds (don't worry, it's not a regular event). Every year we (me and Kate, not dogs!) come back nowty and exhausted! Oscar spent his whole time there either mugging PaT staff for biscuits or deciding he wanted everything for Christmas. Browser didn't want to wait for Christmas day for the toy he'd chosen and refused to give it back. We had give it to the cashier full of dog saliva and teeth marks, lucky her! To put the tin lid on it, Oscar helped himself to a bone as we were waiting at the checkout. On the plus side, they've chosen their presents and had a nice time, both of them are worn out now, especailly as they had a snowball fight when they got home, followed by a McDonalds. Does anyone else have Christmas traditions that aren't as good an idea as they sound?!
  7. Thanks for all your replies. Even though he was old, it was still heartbreaking to see him lying there. The vet had asked us about having him pts, but he was comfortable and was interested in life, so we said no. I think we did the right thing, he slipped away gently in his sleep, with his friend at his side. Our worry is for dave, he is very sad at losing his friend. He is eating though, which is something.
  8. Hello Thanks for all your replies. Unfortunately Rolf died yesterday afternoon. He went for his afternoon sleep and didn't wake up. Thanks for all your help.
  9. meant to say, I didn't know they shouldn't be put together when I got them!
  10. My rabbit, Rolf, is nine now and showing his age, bless him. Today I was cleaning him and noticed he'd gone quite thin. My brother and I took him to the emergancy vets. Shw said it was just old age, trimmed his teeth gave us some liquid feed to help him keep his strength up and relieved us of £45! Does anyone have any experience of looking after old rabbits? We've brought him inside and help him clean himself. He can still move about and greets us and has a guinea pig friend (I didn't know they shouldn't live together when I got them and they are too elderly to be separated). At the moment he's flaked out, worn out from his exciting day! Any advice would be appreciated.
  11. Hi I've spoken to the vet and he's going first thing. He probably will need antibiotics, just to be on the safe side. I've bathed it in saltwater, thanks for the suggestion. It's now covered in zinc and caster oil to keep it clean and it's not bleeding, which is a relief. He's been on the sofa feeling sorry for himself all afternoon and had his meals brought to the sofa. My Mum called to see how he was and he forgot himself and was jumping up all over her! He's obviously feeling better, bless him.
  12. I think you're right, I'll give them a ring now.
  13. Oscar has cut his leg on his walk. I've cleaned it up ,but it is quite deep. I'm worried that he has caught it on barbed wire or a nail or something. He's being really brave, he keeps showing me it and licking it. Does he need a tetnus shot? I feel pretty bad dragging the vet out on a Sunday to look at a cut; so I thought I'd post on here before ringing her. I am an anxious mother, so they are used to me!
  14. Hi I teach in English in a college. I think they want to to design an assessment and ask them to complete it. If you were doing apostrophes for example, you could do a short quiz at the end and assess how much they have learnt. I thnk they want to check that you assess sufficiently and know the difference between summative and formative assessment. I could sent you one of my lesson plans, if it would help.
