  1. Today is the last day to claim your bottle of wine if yours was the qualifying order in July - order number 65136. If this your order please get in touch with us via the contact page on the Beastly Beasts website and let us know the amount of your order (we know you know), where you would like your bottle of wine to be sent, and, most importantly, whether you want red or white.

  5. Lucy - the Beastly Babe - is eight today. At some point during the day there will be sausages, pigs ears and other nice things. Happy Birthday Lucy
  6. Mack's been here two weeks now, so here's a quick update on him, with pics of him and the other Beastly Beasts. What can I say about this lad? He's clean in the house, doesn't counter surf, doesn't get on the furniture, stunningly handsome, and is very loving. He's a dream on the lead unless he's given the chance not to be, but walking beside me he is as good as gold. His only fault - if you can call it a fault - is that he gets very excited at things when he's out. To be fair, he has started to calm down with other dogs, but rabbits, cats, squirrels and pigeons will see Mack at the end of the leash. He arrived with Mack as the centre of Mack's world, and there have been a couple of times when he tried for the top dog slot with the others. Only problem is he wasn't sure which of them was top dog to try it on with - hadn't quite cottoned on to the fact that I'm top dog; he found out after snapping at Troy last week, when he was left in no doubt as to his place in the hierarchy. Since then no problems at all, and as with all the others - permanent residents and fosters, once the pecking order has been sorted everyone can relax. He is quite a foody, but that's good as he will do most things you want for food (not quite as bad as Jack who will do jumping off tall buildings and through hoops of fire, but not far off). He has now learned that he is last in the queue for meals and treats, and now waits for his turn - back to that pecking order. As you can see from the pics, Mack goes off-lead at Salcey. His recall is average, but he doesn't want to be left behind, so will come back with the others - I wouldn't trust him yet without The Beasts to provide the pack, but I think he will be OK with proper training. As I mentioned before, Mack is very loving. He is definitely a people dog and needs human company. He would I think be OK as an only hound; but whether on his own or with other hounds, he will need someone there most of the time. All in all, Mack is a lovely lad, and provided whoever he lives with takes into account his foibles while out, they are going to have a fantastic companion. Now for Some Gratuitous Pics of The Beastly Beasts Kai the Handsome Hound (yes I am biased ) Monty doing his Dumbo impression When we do Meet and Greets the kids often say Jack looks like a Tiger; here he is in the Serengeti Troy having a great time The Beastly Babe - Lucy And another one of Jack
  7. Hmmffff seriously miffed - not
  8. Wendy, We are all so sad at Poppy's passing. Big hugs from all The Beasts , and a special lean from Troy. Chris
  9. If you are a Frank Sinatra fan you'll know who was badder than Leroy Brown - it was of course Mack the Knife. Our latest foster - thankfully - is short on the knife front, and so far he's not been bad. Let me introduce Mack. Mack has been staying in another foster home where, having been nursed back to full strength, he decided to take his foster mum for a walk through a hedge in an attempt to get at one of the local feline population. He has landed here where he hopefully won't be able to take me for a similar excursion. So far so good. Mack, apart from being a bit keen and strong with it, is a super lad - very loving and very polite, and IMHO extremely handsome. For those of you that know Troy; Mack seems to share a lot of the same mannerisms; many people have said they would love to take Troy home - Mack is the next best thing. Mack will, of course, be staying until his forever home is found.

    Hooch Update

We got a nice card from Hooch and his new mum and dad, Sandra and Matt. Seems he's settled in OK and is loving his new home in the Shed (click here to find out more about the Shed); he certainly looks chilled in the pic. He's been on long walks in Bradgate Park, and was totally entranced by the deer. It's just as much hard work in my new home as it was being a Beastly Beast We're hoping to see Hooch in a few weeks at the Gap show, so more updates then.
  12. Hope the party was a good one. Happy Homecoming and loads more to come.
  13. Hooch has left the building to go and start his new life. Don't you kind of wish they weren't quite so eager to leap into the new car when they leave - they could at least pretend that they are a bit upset at going. And Lucy is as traumatised at Hooch's departure as a an untraumatised thing.
  14. Or maybe not by the way she was bouncing around when she dropped in on The Beastly Beasts this evening.
  15. Well done Wing Co. Mortimer. Brave and handsome.
  16. There's some here to keep you going.
  17. I am not showing The Beatly Beasts this thread - they'll be going on strike for better snoozing conditions Mack is dead handsome and looks like he knows which side is bread is buttered - and pated
  18. A Beastly Beast is one of our hounds - together they are The Beastly Beasts. If you want to know more about them, what they get up to, and why they are called The Beastly Beasts, please take a look at their website - http://thebeastlybeasts.co.uk
  19. Lucy and Hoch are going their seperate ways Actually it's not but . Hooch is going to live with Sandra and Mark from Monday - they fell in love with him last week, and after a homecheck by The Beastly Beasts are going to be his new mum and dad. (More about it by Hooch on BeastBlog) And Lucy? Lucy is going to be a full time Beastly Beast.

    Thank You

Hi Ange, Thanks for ordering via us. It did work - the Vet UK site works it all out, so just by clicking on the link from The Beastly Beasts page or the link in fundraising it knows who to allocate the commission to - dead clever you know . There's a bit of blurb on our site that explains how it's done if you really want to know, but the main thing is we earn the commission and then the hounds get the money. Thanks again, Chris

    Thank You

Thank you to everyone that has ordered things from Vet UK via The Beastly Beasts website over the last few weeks - we are already up to £14 - and we get paid when it reaches £20. And if you are wondering what I'm on about ----- Vet UK sell branded vetinerary supplies at much lower prices than most vets. Their prices include P&P on all non-food orders and VAT, and everything we have ordered has arrived the next day. Here's the good bit: If you order via The Beastly Beasts website we get paid 5% commission on non-food and non-prescription medicine items. When the amount reaches £20 we get paid, and we send the money off to a greyhound and/or lurcher rescue organisation or charity. So you get stuff cheap and quickly at the click of a mouse, have enough over to buy your beast a treat, and help out hounds at the same time; how good is that? And, just to make it even better, through July, August and September, if your order is the one that gets us to the £20 payment threshold we'll send you a bottle of wine to say thank you. Details are on The Beastly Beasts website. Please note that you must order via The Beastly Beasts website so they know where to allocate the commission. Thanks again to everyone that has ordered, and thanks in advance to those that will. Chris
  22. So, just how much exercise do greyhounds actually need? Received wisdom, at least while trying to persuade people to give a hound a home, is a couple of 20 minute walks per day, with one or two longer walks thrown in during the week. If you read BeastBlog regularly you will know that The Beastly Beasts like to have longer walks than that, with an hour walk being at the short end of the scale, and more often than not they are a couple of hours. But every now and then we go for a really long walk, as this pic shows. The Beastly Beasts at New Zealand - nearly
  23. The Beasts will be coming to sunny Somershire / Leicesterset / where ever
