I have been mooching for 2 days trying to find the right policy for Seth. I found a company which is ethical, supports charity and has very reasonable prices. Animal Friends Insurance. Afternoon. We have just rehomed one of my favourite little greyhound girls Thyme. She is such a sweetheart and off to be spoiled rotten by the looks of things. Im changing Seths name to Seth No! or Seth Leave! as the poor sod is into everything, everywhere and is only happy when he is carrying something. Twice the sod has nicked off with my ciggies today He doesnt chew, just carries. Been looking at insurance quotes for him, and I get the feeling he could be the type of dog to damage himself easily while he is such a dipstick. I found a nice company called animal friends insurance who are a not for profit company who give money to charities, and who are also on easyfundraising so far it would appear he is going to cost me around 30 quid a month for a lifelong type policy

update time for Dog.... who is now Seth. Named after an egyptian god, who was origionally a good guy, known for his physical strength and was often depicted as a dog headed man. He is described as being a most loyal friend but a fiersome enemy, so I thought was quite accurate for a goofy rott He has been mixing slowly with my rabble and we are nearly there. What is sad, is that around 9pm ish he can be found pacing out back waiting to be allowed back in his kennel. Ive been getting him to settle for longer each evening but he seems to really like his own company later on Im not forcing the issue yet as his bollox come off on tuesday so I may need him to have some quiet time away from my lot. morning. All the staff have turned up bearing easter eggs They are now apparently having a giddy morning in kennels. Its amazing how chilled they are when there is no danger of any customers catching them singing and dancing their way round the kennels

one of our greyhound volunteers who spent an hour in my office yesterday, has just rung to tell me she has chicken pox. Despite having it a child, and feeling perfectly fine, I am now itching all over. No reason to of course but now Im looking like I need frontlining

Afternoon. Been hellishly busy here today, with what feels like millions of dogs coming and going In reality, 17 have arrived, 4 cats and I have 4 more dogs to come and 2 to go home. I have been working integrating new boy with my lot and he is currently sat behind me in the crate looking longingly at my honey on toast. Lesson one sunshine... i dont share lunch

Interesting.... this is the hospital that me or my staff would go to when we are bitten. Its been a while admitedly, but on the forms, there is a small box for what caused the injury where the nurses write dog bite. There is no where, nor have any of us ever been asked what type of dog. How can the BBC collate details on breed that bit when the nurses dont even ask? knobheads

I should probably admit now that my rotties are actually distinguished by my vet by their collars. Benson wear blue for chilled, archie wear red and if they are seeing both, they are carefull to check which rott they have hold of Its not something I would publically use but it works for friends visiting and vets. Archie can be a bit arsey and is very vocal so its a quick way of identifying which is which

morning. back on duty of the shovelling kind at 8.30, although today is a little more serene as Im rostered for cattery duty. Bit of kennel scrubbing and some dog walking, and with any luck I shall make it back to my desk for 1pm
