  1. Glad your transport runs are sorted Michelle Hope you enjoyed the pub Owl Well done on the 10.5 miles MAry! Good luck Snow Hello Marion ;) hope all poorly dogs feel better soon x Hope Alex and Jazz feel better soon too. I am feeling a bit raggy today, I have coldsores accompanied by cold like symptoms and fatigue. Feel like having a nap, but I don;t want to be awake tonight. Decisions decisions.
  2. Morning all I woke up early as usual, so have been using the time to make bread, (Dough currently rising), and salmon and brocolli quiche. I am attempting a new boiled fruit cake recipe later, I am awaiting delivery of these two paintings, done by a very talented person called Julian Wheat, who is on a Lab forum. He is so, so talented! First Cherry and Spike and Jack I can'rt express how pleased I am, even though I don't have the originals yet. Next job will be finding a framer.
  3. Alex. Well done Griff, at least you and your family can hold your heads high.
  4. Morning I hope Wispa, Timmy and Mouse feel better soon. I just had a bit of a panic. I updated Jack's Facebook page with the comment "Just had my first cuddle of the day, so now it's time for a nap" Trouble was, for some reason, the iphone updated it on MY status and I couldn't delete it!! A quick run downstairs to the laptop ensued and I deleted it. I could imagine the comments I would get if I hadn't noticed! RMF: Strictly starts tonight
  5. it was in last night, the video is online, but I can scan the middle page if you want to see it?
  6. He did consume most of a bucket of treats for those pictures! Thanks everyone, it was a bit of a shock, I didn't know the story was being sent on to other newspapers as well as the local one. I have left it too long to be away from here, there's so much to catch up on. Have hugs for all the poorly people and pets, I don't want to miss anyone out. xxxx Thank you, yes there are some nutters out there! Alex left a fab comment too!!
  7. Sorry about your nan Griff x Sorry about your BIL Michelle x Hang in there Alex, i hope your rep gets the result you deserve x Hugs to all who need them. We're on our way home now, so I am using up my data allowance before i leave. Looking forward to seeing the dogs tomorrow, they have been with the boarder so long, they probably think they've bee adopted! Had an email yesterday to say the coventry evening telegraph want to do a story on Jack winning the pet champions competition. Hmmm, wonder if i can get a plug in for the oldies?
  8. Morning! We're leaving Lorica today and going to the trulli in Alberobello for a few nights before coming home. I've been getting regular updates about Jack and Cherry, so it will be good to see them again next week. :-)
  9. Morning all Glad your mum has had the op she needed Griff, and hope you feel a bit better soon yourself. Owl, I,m glad the attendant said something too, I find a lot of people re vert selfish these days. Suzanne hope bunnies eyes improve. Sorry to compare him to Jack, but he tears his cornea very easily once it gets damaged. A buster collar sorts him out though! Hope you enjoyed your cider Alex, I am off to Italy this morning and am at Heathrow now. Will be a long day, but fingers crossed there will be no hold ups. Have a good weekend everyone.
  10. Best of luck for Ruby and Archie with the three peaks challenge! Hope your hubby is ok Suzeanna, Well done you Griff, getting your affairs in order I know I have missed people, but I'm sending good thoughts for you all. On hols now, so writing my to do list, so much stuff is last minute isn't it? need another cuppa, then I will get started.
  11. Morning all Suzeanna, hope your hubby feels better soon. Jack damages his cornea from time to time. If he knocks it, or gets something in it, he will scratch until it is blistered! It should heal in it's own time, but it is a nightmare trying not to scratch it while it's healing. MArion, hope the pie was good Griff, glad you have a bit of company for the chemo, and no wonder the nurses hugged you, that was a very nice gesture Alex, you have a lot on your plate right now, but you are stronger than you think. You have Fugee power behind you, good luck for the interview on Thursday. Three years ago today, Spike went to sleep and never woke up. we still miss the big fella, he was a true gent.
  12. Glad you enjoyed it Good result on both counts What an idiot! Take care on the roof Alex! Would have loved to see pics of oompah loompha Griff! I'm off to the hairdressers soon, but have been up for hours getting jobs done it gets too hot, though it isn't sunny here, very overcast.
  13. I am sure the council will sort M out regarding her tenancy Owl, this happens more often than you think. Good luck with getting the animals sorted too,
  14. Good luck today Alex Here's to new beginnings Snow Glad you have some books on order Griff. Thanks for your support for me and the SIL. She has always been a bossy martyr, in that there is one way, hers. I haven't heard back from the folks in Oz either, so that's too bad isn't it? To be honest, I would invite them back here, but I don't want SIL and her crew here and unfortunately there is only the one day when we can all meet up. Looks like it wil be a nice sunny day here.
  15. Steady on Jazz! I have noticed how dark it is too Alex ;( I will be thinking of you tomorrow. Morning all,
  16. wot she said! Excuse me, rant alert. I've just had a call from Keith's sister to talk about the impending visit from our Australian relatives on 7th September weekend. They have two children and want to buy a car seat and booster seat for the duration and want to go out for an early dinner on the Saturday 5pm, because of the children). That's it, nothing else. Anyway, emails have been going back and forth, as we are back from Italy on the Tuesday late night, catching up. getting dogs from Burbage etc on Wednesday and back to work Thursday and Friday. anyway, Mary was going to order the seats from Argos so KAthryn could collect it when they get here. Tonight though, she wanted ideas on places to go. I suggested no fewer than five places that would be serving food that early, but each one was dismissed. Then she says that we have to get it booked, so I said there's plenty of time left. But your not going away till the 17th! she moaned. Even though I explained that we do work full time and have only this weekend to get things done, she still wasn't happy. So she went off on one, saying don't you have any suggestions? I suppose I've got to do everything and ring round everywhere!!! I told her that I had given her five suggestions which she had turned down and that the details of all of them were on the net. I told said that with the best will in the world, we will be away for three weeks and will not be able to sort anything from Italy, and when we get back, we have one day to get the dogs, etc etc before going back to work! Geeze, it's only booking a pub! The thing is, she and her husband are retired, so have EVERY day free. I told her that Keith works long hours and sometimes, Like tonight,he doesn't come home at all. She just doesn't get it. I found the details of all five places and emailed them to Australia, asking them to choose which one they want. Job done, took all of 20 seconds. I am absolutely fuming. Thanks for letting me let off steam.
  17. Good luck Alex, having a union rep can take some of the pressure off you. I'd be miffed too Mary! What a cheek. Glad Ruby got home Marion, I sit in first class if I go to Brimingham and the other carriages are full; Seems such a waste to have people crammed in when other seats are available. I keep the extra money out, but have only been asked for it once. Excuse me while I have a proud moment......... JAck is Judges favourite in the Pet Champions Watersports category!! A hug THANK YOU to everyone who voted (Long after I had forgotten!) Here's a link to all the winners, click Jack's entry to view his video. :) http://petchampions....winners-gallery
  18. Glad you're sorted Snow. Hope your day goes quickly Alex. x Monday already??
  19. It may seem futile, but it all builds up a documented history, along with the diary sheets and any other witnesses statements or complaints. Very tiresome for the people involved and suffering though. I hope she does finally move, but it's a shame the services aren't treating her problems, they will just go with her somewhere else.
  20. Sounds like a good plan! Lovely pic He's certainly winding people up isn't he? Enjoy. I have an indesit one, which has been cvery good. It's a slimline model, but still holds loads. well done you! and well done team GB! Managed some time at the lottie and got all the tatties dug up (Except for maincrop).. I seem to have aquired a new variety though... I think it's called a Uri Geller! I'm hoping to dig up enough to make a whole set of cutlery!
  21. That's it Owl exactly, you can never seem to replicate the behaviour at a time that matters.
  22. They are, and so are social services. I have no end of problems getting any kind of help with people of this sort. A lot of the professionals hide behind "It's their choice", thus absolving themselves from blame. The problem with trying to refer to places is that often, they only accept referrals from GP's, bit tough if you don't know them, or worse still, they don't know the patient well enough and say they "have capacity!" Each and every incident should be reported to the police, so there's a record on file. If the lady is with the council, or a housing association, it should also be reported to them. (Keep trying if you don't get a good enough response). She will be in breach of her tenancy conditions by her anti social behaviour, and they should take action, which may involve contacting any next of kin, the police, or social services themselves. This person may not be taking their medication correctly, if at all, or might need a change of medication. There is Rethink as well as MIND, but the people with the power are the police and the mental health services. The other option is for your friend to go and get some help for herself because of this trauma, and then maybe, the support person can get to sort the other one out. Services seem very hot on safeguarding vulnerable adults these days, so if anyone could make a safeguarding case, someone has to look at it. We have had resident recently with Altzeimers, who was charged with assault, but the services didn't want to know. Our solicitor told us to refer to social services on ground 47, and now he has a mental health team working with him. Is it worth your friend getting advice about an injunction? Breaking this could mean highlighting the issues to the relevant people. the other thing to look for are the local mental health crisis team. I know how frustrating it is to get any action and can sympathise with a person actually living with the consequences.
