  1. What a sad picture that first one is compared to proud handsome lad standing by the river. You really are a special person taking on all these sick dogs that would probably otherwise be passed by
  2. Here are a few pictures of the gorgeous Amber
  3. I have been asked by Amber's owner and Kelpie Welfare to crosspost this request. Please take the time to read about Amber as she is a wonderful dog and will make a loyal companion. If you have any questions please pm me and I can put you in touch with the owner. Amber is in the Porstmouth area. I currently own three kelpies which are both pets and working dogs; used for ferreting and controlling rats. Rust is a ten year old, entire, red and tan male, Amber is a six year old, spayed, cream bitch and Scout is a two year old, spayed, black and tan bitch. I also have a seventeen month old son called Oscar. Despite the best efforts of my wife and I we have decided to admit that the relationship between Oscar and Amber is causing problems. Amber is very much a one-man-dog who has a strong sense of belonging to her pack. She gets on very well with my wife and Rust and Scout as well as our ferrets and bantams. We had hoped that this side of her character would positively effect her relationship with Oscar but unfortunately this has not been the case. She will avoid any contact with him whenever possible and there have also been four occasions when either my wife or I have heard her growling in his presence. After each occasion we had a long and thorough discussion about what may have occurred and how to proceed. Although each event could possibly be written off as caused by an external stimulus, we've come to the decision that enough is enough and it's not a risk we are prepared to take. We are therefore seeking to re-home her. The current situation is that whenever Oscar is downstairs, Amber is moved into the garden room, which is our usual "kelpie residence." Although this avoids any contact, it's not an ideal situation as she's a fairly soft bitch with an occasionally Eeyore-like demeanor: "Oh woe is me!" We can of course put the others out with her but this then means no contact between the other two and Oscar which would adversely effect their positive relationship. So, now that I've painted a negative picture of her, let me try to give a fuller one. As mentioned above, Amber is the most one-man-dog I've ever known. Although she is completely besotted with me, I feel this side of her character would allow her to, given time, form an equally strong bond with a new owner. Although she gets on very well with my other dogs; they've always been kenneled as a group, she is not fond of other dogs. This results in her trying to avoid them but if too much attention is given she will often assume the worst and defence attack. However, this invariably takes the form of a quick, blustery, "I said leave me alone!" kind of thing. Although she always avoids the attention of people too, she has never shown even the least form of aggression to anyone, which is why we're so perplexed by the growling at Oscar. She's extremely obedient and is one of those dogs who'll invariably be doing the right thing without needing to be told. She rarely goes out of sight, even when hunting, so recalls have never been a problem.. Of the three, she's the only one I wouldn't describe as 100% bomb proof with stock. Although a slightly less keen hunter than the other two, largely due to her desire to stay close, I'd say she has a stronger working/herding instinct. Despite this, she never gives me any concerns on our trips to Dartmoor as she's always within sight and a short, "Ah, ah, ah!" would always do the trick. I'd describe Amber's perfect day as being one in which she could spend the entire day in my company. Despite this she is, like the other two, very good at switching off when not working and subsequently spends the majority of the day asleep. I'm not looking for a foster home, just a permanent one, and I'm more than happy to keep her until one can be found; she's a pleasure to be with. Needless to say, if there were any concerns in her new home I'd be more than happy to take her back.
  4. Jake is a 4 year old GSD x Rough Collie who is looking for a new home. His owners are unable to cope as he doesn't like other dogs and also can't be left for long periods of time (although can cope with a few hours). He is very good with people and children and would make a lovely handsome companion for someone who is willing to work through his problems with him. He has been neutered, vaccinated, frontlined and wormed. If anyone can help Jake by offering him a home or rescue space please pm. Jake is in the Warrington area.
  5. Ok not technically a poundie as she is at home but her owner is going to have her PTS. These are the details I know so far: 12 year old Rottie x Dobie bitch, dog friendly. Reason for PTS is that owner has had a baby and the dog is terrified of kids so they are frightened of the dog biting the baby. The dog is currently living and sleeping in the garden. Dog is in the Warrington area. I am hopefully going to see the dog on Saturday so I can assess her, take pictures and persuade her owner to give me longer to find her a home or rescue space. It seems so very wrong that such a long time loyal friend should be PTS because she 'might' do something Can anyone help out?
  6. Whitey will be going to the RGT Merseyside within the next day or so
  7. Thanks Helly, I did get in touch with Graham and he said they were doing a few home checks but haven't heard back from him yet. It would be fantastic if he has a space
  8. Whitey is an 18 month old greyhound boy who needs a rescue space. He has never raced due to a slight limp (bearly noticeable). He has a wonderful friendly temperament and gets on great with other greyhounds but has never been around other dogs or cats. He will be vaccinated and will come with a donation. Can anyone help this boy please?
  9. Alex I am am so so sorry, Milly was a beautiful little girl my thoughts are with you
  10. I have emailed him (not heard anything back from him yet) but not rung as I have lost his number
  11. They are coming from a dodgy kennels up near Wigan and the only information I have on them is that they are both about 4 years old. One is a blue bitch and one is a brindle male. Both dogs are an unknown quantity and will probably not have evidence of vacs, worming or flea treatment. The dogs out of these kennels are generally pretty desperate and aren't given long before they disappear. Can anyone help?
  12. Rory is an 11 month old Black and White Border collie boy. He is vaccinated, wormed, neutered, housetrained and treated for fleas. Rory is a family dog but due to his owners working long hours he is not getting the training and attention he desperately needs so they have decided its in the dogs best interests for him to be rehomed. He lives with a family who have 2 young children, one of which is pre-school and although a bit hyper gets on very well with them. I will be going to see him and assess him this week so will update later on with a full description and photos If anyone is interested please pm me
  13. Where abouts are you? Kelpie Welfare dogs are sometimes in agility foster homes and travel around the country going to shows so its not out of the question that you may be able to meet him
  14. Comic is a 2 year old Red and Tan Kelpie Boy that is in need of a home. He is quite safe and with an experienced doggie family in a multiple dog household and is on long term foster with them due to a family break up. They would like an active home for him to have a job of work to do. He has no behavioural issues and is a lovely boy who just needs a permanent home with someone who loves Kelpies. For more details please contact Jay tel: 07732 778 032 [email protected]

Joey has been brought up with chidren and is very good with them . He loves a big fuss and cuddle .He lived with one other dog , In foster care he is one of 8 . He gets on well with all other dogs . He has been use to being left during the daytime with his friend . Off lead he has a good recall and is ball mad , he has been introduced to flyball and knows how to do the box . He is very loyal and would love a job . His foster mum will be sad to see him go , but she realises that he wants to do more . He will make a great flyball or Agility dog. 16. Rusty is a solid red Kelpie boy who was rescued by the RSPCA back in June and then signed over the Kelpie Welfare for rehoming. We think Rusty is roughly 5 years old and considering he has lived most of his life living outside he has taken to home life pretty well. Rusty is neutered and fully vaccinated, he has a lovely temperament and is a loving loyal companion. He is good with other dogs and lives quite happily with many other breeds of dog in his foster home. He is crate trained and house trained. He likes children and adults and would suit an active home. Doesn't he sound PERFECT!!!! He is apart from the fact that it was recently sadly discovered that Rusty has deterioration of the retina and unfortunately will be blind in about a year. We don't believe this will stop Rusty being a wonderful pet and companion but we want to see him settled into an understanding home before this happens and preferably with another dog. Please email [email protected] or pm me for a contact number Who could resist these gorgeous foxy features
  17. Reggie has had some interest and all being well I will be taking him to his new home on Friday
  18. Hi Diane, I've no idea what he is like with cats but my guess is he has never really come across any as he has always lived at the breakers yard. I will arrange to go and see him this week and see if I can take him for a walk to meet some cats Where abouts are you?
