  1. My dog Dolly has got to the final 5 in a photo competition organised by Heart radio. I rescued her at 12 weeks old, she had been bought over from rescue kennels in Ireland with her siblings, she is 5 years old now. Dolly is the 2nd picture in the pumpkin costume. Please vote for her. Thank you (click on link to vote). My link
  2. We went back today and had a fab day - the weather wasn't as kind today but it stayed dry after a little shower this morning - my boy did my proud in a big way coming first in the Scamps heat dog over 18" and then getting Reserve Best In Show in the Scamps Final, he also took a rosette in every class entered bar one bringing home a 1st, two 2nds, a 3rd and two 4ths, and considering the judge was a man and he's very very nervous of men i was extremely proud of him. Can't wait till next year.
  3. Been reading this thread with interest as my eldest has developed a fly phobia this year and as soon as she see's one she either runs upstairs/outside to hide or sits trembling from head to toe - bless her. I read somewhere that if you spray Indorex (the household flea spray) round door & window frames it stops flies coming in - not sure if it works.
  4. We had a fantastic day yesterday, lots of lovely dogs (and very big classes which was nice to see), thank you very much to everyone at Oldies Club for all their hard work hope u raised lots of money. Just having tea n toast and getting ready to go back with one of mine for the Scamps show now.
  5. Thank you - i'd managed to find that bit but doesn't say what day the dog show is - if we're not busy saturday we might take a trip up there and see.
  6. Hi does anyone have anymore info on this ie what day the dog show is as i've googled and can't find anything? Thank you
  7. Hi guys, I'm about 15/20 mins away from the venue so if anyone needs any help down this way just let me know (also email me incase i miss anything posted on here). We went to the show both days last year - its a big fave of ours - my boy came 3rd in the scamps heat but we had to come home as he hurt his leg whilst playing ball and it ended our day but we love the show and there's always lots to do - the PDSA truck was fab last year too. If u contact any local companies and anything collecting just let me know. Try contacting Joe Inglis at Pets Kitchen as their warehouse is very near to me and they gave us stuff for a show we did 2 years ago.
  8. Hi Claire Would your mum be able to make one that covered most of the dog - if you look at this link you'll see what i mean? Pref same as the black one - the design can be the same as your mums i just need it to hang lower to cover more of him as he goes to hydrotherapy and gets cold afterwards. If so what would be the additional cost? http://www.trovercoats.com/deluxe_bonedry_dogcoat.php?idtype=39
  9. Whenever anything like this happens i get a deja vu of what i was told by the police when my 3 dogs were attacked by a great dane - they said, and i quote, "dog on dog attacks are natural things" and they did NOTHING! How sad that another life has been lost - i blame the irresponsible owners and the authorities, tighter laws need to be introduced now ie licensing.
  10. Copied from another forum i go onto below is what the Mayor Of London thinks of bullbreeds - this is just the first paragraph!!! Pet News London Deputy Mayor jumps on bull breed bandwagon In London Dog Week London deputy mayor Kit Malthouse has made some very silly comments about ’status dogs’. He said that:- Certain types of dogs are inherently more aggressive than others. At the top of the list are bull breeds, developed for one purpose: to attack and fight. Bull terriers were bred as weapons, to duel or bait with, for their owner’s entertainment and status. As well as punishing owners appropriately for use of this weapon, we should be bolder about removing these dogs from circulation altogether.
  11. Ah no thats a shame as would've popped by n said hi as i know the guys at Appledown that board the dogs for you.
  12. We're going Saturday - have LRSE&C got a stall saturday too?
  13. I was shocked when i heard this - innocent people had been named, innocent people had offered their money and more shocking the police have CLOSED the case - why? An innocent puppy died under suspicous circumstances - if there is foul play these people now have a new puppy. A local councillor has it on good authority that it died from Parvo - even more worrying.
  14. Sorry for the delay in updating this. After 2.5 weeks of having his leg bandage (and some cross words with the vets re their pricing structure) things took an unsuspected turn one night when i was looking through some old photos of Milo in the snow last winter and there it was, the swelling on his hock joint. It had been there all along. It doesn't explain why he's injuring his leg or what he's actually doing to it but it meant the bandaging could come off. So, off my own back, as i'm still concerned that he's sustained the same injury to both legs, he now goes to hydrotherapy and also has Joint Aid with his food. He seems a lot better although the swelling is still there, so after spending loads of money at the vets i'm still no further forward and didn't get any answers. But I am more aware of it and don't let him go bananas like he used to. He's very happy and loves his walks just like he used to.
  15. I'm from St Neots and am sickened by this story as are many locals, we are doing all we can to try and make sure these thugs are brought to justice.
  16. Taz - 5yrs ago u went out and never came home, u left my life but not my heart x
  17. Hi Diane I'm on the beds/northants border so may not be too far from you depending on what part of northants your in.

  20. Thanks guys. He went to the vets this afternoon, he'd been walking ok all day then sods law i tried to lift him into the car and he panicked and jumped in and hurt his leg again. The vet wasn't happy with the swelling etc so kept him in to do xrays etc. I picked him up earlier this evening. The xrays didn't show anything specific except a lot of soft tissue swelling around the elbow, this would be consistant with a knock but he hasn't knocked his leg and if he had it would've been on the inside not the outside. The vet is very puzzled as to what it is and is concerned it may be an achilles problem that is being shadowed by the tissue swelling so they have put metal splints on his leg to restrict all movement to that joint, he's gotta stay like this for THREE weeks (any know any dog mental stimulation games!), and only have very very light exercise if any at all. So a little frustrating as we're still none the wiser as to what it is or why it comes and goes so quickly.
  21. Thank you. Apparently its not his cruciate - the swelling is on the outer part of the leg - possibly a muscle tear or even a break (although he is putting weight on it so doubt if its a break), phoning vets 1st thing in morning.
  22. Today, whilst jumping into the boot of the car, Milo hurt his leg (at first we thought he'd hurt his paw but as things developed we realised otherwise). It wasn't bothering him too much so we continued to the dog show and he was ok. During a break in our classes we went off for a walk and i threw his ball for him, he ran to fetch it then yelped and took the weight off one of his back legs. I checked his leg and couldn't feel/see anything. We sat down for a while then i noticed his leg had swollen around the elbow joint - i felt it all around and its swollen just above the main elbow bone (sorry not very good with dog anatomy). Has anyone got any ideas what this could be? We came home from the show (gutted) and i've put a cold compress on it but its still swollen.
  23. Has anyone tried Slimming World AND weight watchers and if so which did you prefer? I have had an incentive to lose weight - at the weekend i went to a dog show (i was running a stall for the rescue as they are fab) and i won a raffle prize - a gliding lesson - only problem is i'm too heavy at the moment - luckily the voucher is valid till June next year so that's my goal now.
  24. I'd happily do a sponsored diet with someone, i have done slimming world before, last year i lost nearly 2 stone following their plan but have put it all back on and more but this weekend i got the perfect incentive - i won a raffle prize at a dog rescue show - a gliding lesson - only problem is at the moment i'm too heavy! So who's up for a sponsored diet?
