  1. Helen, the hottie and haybox is best bet. Once they have got that far it takes a real drop in temperature to kill them off. Someone I knew took an egg she thought was addled and put it on a table in the garden, forgot about it completely and some hours later a chick was there shouting.
  2. morning fugees *mumblemumble yawn* snow, that is good news. Helly, hope you get to go on hols as planned. I feel half dead so will shove some porridge down my throat and have a coffee. It is dull and misty here but sunshone is forecast. Probably just a sea fog at present. No excitement planned here today except for a delivery man coming. Apart from that, just a load of people to ring, a breed rescue place to find for a dog, and a new rescue dog to locate for someone who wants one.
  3. Nite all hope evryone can get some sleep. Apart from anyone on night duty, that is. I hope tomorrow will be less - er - weird. The Powerpuff Girls have been very good this evening and haven't done any furious squeaking, just chatted quietly among themselves and gone to bed in their little playhouse.
  4. I hope Will knocked them flat, jumped on them and THEN pissed on them. Or something like that. We suspect that a van was involved as someone has reported one acting suspiciously. Maybe Will trashed the inside for them An upset GS is not a fellow to be messed around with. Sorry about Woof, we have a bit of that at our house when OH has a bad day.
  5. Will, the giant schnauzer, has either got away from the thieves or been a bit too much for them he is now running loose in the same area with a new lead attached to his collar. Back to the drawing board.
  6. What a cr*p time it is what with jelly's OH taking off with no explanation, bebe's and louise bt's unspeakable exes, Mel's mega bill, gooster's horse fly bite, Big Bad Woof having to say goodbye to the car for health reasons etc and now I am seriously angry ... have just posted on Lost section. Remember the injured giant schnauzer that we had to get a big trap for and some bitches to draw him to it? Cunning plan worked, but someone was even more cunning and must have been stalking the helpers. Will was caught in the trap and stolen out of it while the watcher was calling owner so say that he was trapped. Trap was well hidden, so some foul people have been riding on the tail of all our hard work and come in to take advantage.
  7. Maybe tomorrow - we just got back from Aberystwth hospital and partner who is best at doing small fiddly pics has retired to bed for rest of day. Quite relieved, scan showed that he did not have the major liver probs which GP had suspected, but does have a fair sized gallstone which is giving him a lot of grief. At least that is one thing that can be dealt with. Powerpuff Girls started the night in the bedroom but were exiled to my office aka the landing for riotous behaviour and excessive squeaking. They are more settled today.
  8. I am knackered. Found a big glass tank at the tip, brought it home and cleaned it up for the biggest snails, cleaned all other tanks and rearranged snails into them by size. Reorganised a whole lot of stuff to set big tank up in kitchen as it is warm. 3 new arrivals, Russian hamsters from sproggie, have settled in well though there have been a few squeaks and squabbles. We call them the Powerpuff Girls. Strawberry the Syrian heard and presumably smelt strange hammies even though they are out of sight in the next room, and has been stomping round her rotastak cussing and swearing. Am going to get her a nice piece of apple to cheer her up. Partner has to go for liver scan at Aberystwth tomorrow morning so must have an early night. Looks like my mum can have her planned hip operation in May 4th after all, as cystitis is coming under control. I think she is matching louise bt pint for pint on the cranberry juice.
  9. Helen doesn't know about norty things like that, only about cute ickle fluffy chickies
  10. Just catching up on one or two threads then off to bed. I am very excited about getting hammies tomorrow
  11. Elderly people have no excuse for being rude. We have been around long enough to know better and should not use our age to take advantage of others. Those who don't show respect have no right to demand it. Congrats on the baby fishies, sanrosscot, and thanks for the hammy pics. Cuteness overload I'm not going down to Cardiff today after all. A lady getting some degus from sproggie is doing the last leg of the rodent relay and will bring my hammies back to her place, and I will get them from her tomorrow. She only lives a few miles away. I have a feeling that these sweeties are going to be the most dreadful timewasters We love our Strawberry the Syrian very much but she is very old and sleeps nearly all the time, so it will be nice to have some lively ones to watch.
  12. Might get down to Penarth tomorrow, depends. 3 little Russian hammies are heading my way from sproggie14 and they might be getting a lift to Cardiff tomorrow. If they do I will go to collect them and I can drop in for a while.
  13. Did Shazzy ever get back from taking terror cat to vet? Or are Shazzy and vet still queueing up in A & E? Louise bt, my mum is in the same boat as she has just had her cystitis come back which seems to be resistant to everything and improved but not cleared up by cranberry juice. Problem is, she is due to have a new hip on May 4th and if she isn't clear of the bug the op will probably be postponed and she has been in pain for ages as some pins which were put in do mend a leg break worked loose. They were finally removed after her waiting ages to get them taken out. By that time they had clobbered the hip joint.
  14. It is not true that the earth has just been invaded by aliens, it wasn't on the news and the fugees are just winding you up. We have in fact been living here amongst you for ages
  15. Good luck, ingipops I made porridge and boiled it over as I was trying to do too many things at once It's still edible though. Am about to eat it but am having a quick session on computer before the leccy boys turn the power off again to replace some more poles.
  16. Greetings all! Online for the first time today as the leccy people switched us off all day to put up new poles. Probably be off tomorrow as well, as there is still some gear and poles in the field. Will catch up on thread later.
  17. Sighting in Kings Estate area - do you know where that is? Cos Kristy isn't sure.
  18. Hi everyone, too much happening today and it's all a bit of this and a bit of that. I would like a boring life please. Someone called me today in search of a labrador, young adult, must enjoy going for seaside walks. Am about to notify the lab forums of this request. If you don't hear from me again I will have been flattened in the rush.

    Colitis?

Could well be. What is in the Burns Active in comparison with the Chicken and Rice? Humph used to have colitis a lot when younger but improved on Autarky. Polly has had a couple of attacks, usually from eating something grotty on a walk. One thing which always started Humph off is if he got hold of a log, especially an oak log, and chewed some of the bark. Very acid stuff.
  20. It's a deal Hey, I saw a house martin today. It was fighting a headwind and wondering why it bothered to fly early and beat the rush.
  21. I just looked at that island site and there is one in Canada with a cottage on, all for half the price of a cottage in Wales I will not however join the Refuge Island as currently there are more women I want to put out a contract on than men. Can I send 3 of them to the island in my place, remain here and live happily ever after? If they are too annoying you can throw them to the sharks. Have been to Carmarthen today to get a printer from Comet. they tried to sell me some extra cartridges and a USB cable. I rang home to ask if I should get them, and haven't got the hang of my new phone yet so accidentally switched the speakerphone on when partner was saying "at THOSE prices? Not ***** likely, they must have seen you coming" Got some arnica 30 for damaged friend who is looking a bit brighter, think he was def concussed earlier so will keep in touch with texts etc. No point in going to A&E unless he has to, prob end up waiting 6 hours, better to stay at home and rest.
  22. to all who need one. Nice kitchen, great tiles. Had to turf out at stupid o'clock this morning to help friend who had cut head and concussion. This meant that I got dressed, fed everyone and drove and things before my brain had woken up. Feel strange now Is concussion contagious?
  23. Louise bt hope your nan can get some improvement soon. I got my snails back, the ones who had been staying at the local school. They look very well except that some sprog had stuck a foil sticker of some cartoon character on the shell of one of them, and there was some chocolate wrapping in the tank and teacher had been not very efficient with egg checks. I found about 50 eggs mostly undersized and thank goodness infertile - they looked rather old and manky. Typical snail's first effort.
  24. Morning all, grey and definitely unfluffy here but a watery sun struggling to be seen. Might improve later. Have had porridge and will make huge mug of coffee shortly. Humphrey was up bright and early as per usual and out exercising the rats. He is now too old and slow to catch any but his constant chasing them around has made them very fit. He has turned them into a super-race of rats with lightning reactions, toned muscles and finely honed intelligence and now even a JRT professional would find them a challenge. The upside is that they have cleared every mouse out of the area around the house, and the mice were a worse problem as they squeezed in through every crack and were a pest in the house itself. Mostly this morning I will be transporting humans and giant snails for a change, and only a short distance. Love the crochet hounds
