  1. I think it will only liquidise if blanched first
  2. Not been here for a few days so am catching up! Try a few ice cubes wrapped in a tea towel. This makes blood vessels shrink which are what causes the erection in the first place. Re KY jelly - durex play is much better!! http://www.durex.com/uk/play/play_range/pl...tions/index.asp Wendy -
  3. good thoughts and wishes for tomorrow
  4. Charlie doesn't bark at people walking past or knocking on the door or at the postman. She does bark loads when the windowcleaner is cleaning the windows tho! She barks at workmen and people in neighbouring yards though and I think if someone tried to climb into her yard then she would scare them off! If someone broke into the house without going through the yard though I think she's bark her very distinctive hello bark/howl and try and lick them to death!
  5. timberland boots or a pair of waterproof karrimors like these http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/5017272934006 I did buy a waterproof pair of cotton traders boots but not worn them yet http://www.cottontraders.co.uk/ProductDeta...?ProductID=6880
  6. A lttle tip - the artificial tears drops need to be applied every 2-3 hours- more often than you'd think. you can buy them over the counter (e.g viscotears which are safe in dogs and cost about £4.50) Some info about dry eyes in dogs http://www.darwinvets.com/dogs/kcs.htm
  7. Best wishes for Friday. Hope the rain holds off!
  8. Lizzie Blacking out is quite a common reason for people to be admitted to hospital. Often an exact cause isn't found and it's a one off. If it's happening more often then it's looked into much more thoroughly. Usually things like a funny heart rhythm can be tested for as an outpatient. Another possible cause is epilepsy. Re DVLA - depending on story and symptoms you can not be allowed to drive from anything from one month to a year. If it is a simple faint you can drive as normal. see pages 6 to 8 here http://www.dvla.gov.uk/media/pdf/medical/aagv1.pdf Until investgations have been done he shouldn't really be driving at all - something to discuss with GP .
  9. My boiler is broke and I have no hot water. Had to take a day of annual leave (so now only 8 left for the next 4 months) to try and get someone out to fix it. Now he can't come until tomorrow so a day wasted. Probably have to take another day next week too cos I doubt he'll have the part tomorrow
  10. for Molly. Salt and Peppa were both loved and I'm sure they were glad they didn't spend their last few days lonely in a fish tank in a pet shop.
  11. Is Sirius or Poosa free form 30th Jan to 14 Feb? We are off to South Africa
  12. he's more than welcome to come!!
  13. 2 things 1 - childhood memory, think I was about 7 or 8 on a school trip somewhere. A couple of lads were standing nearby and commenting on how good/bad looking the girls walking past were. I remember I got a 'she's ugly. stuck with me every since. That, along with all the bullying at school means I have no self confidence at all. 2- yantan - OH and I are spending 6 nights here http://www.sa-venues.com/visit/nagenoeg/ 3 nights here http://www.sanparks.org/parks/addo/default.php 2 on a wine farm near Cape Town and 2 in Cape Town itself. should be about 28 degrees in Feb, can't wait!
  14. I have booked my holiday in February. Probably won't get any sun this summer so will have to get some then!
  15. Yes. Ideally for everyone the top figure should be less than 135 and the bottom figure less than 85. There are things u can do but for a lot of people with blood pressure as high as yours, it won't lower it enough. Re the list of side effects - you should see the leaflet for paracetamol! Many people don't get as many side effects as you'd imagine. things to try cut out salt from everything and check labels thoroughly - many processed foods that you wouldn't think of as salty contain huge amounts as does bread and cheese. loose weight - to get within normal BMI range Diet- research the DASH diet -(Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) fruit, vegetables and low-fat dairy foods; whole grains, poultry, fish and nuts; smaller amounts of red meat, total and saturated fat, cholesterol and sugar; and larger amounts of potassium, calcium, magnesium, dietary fibre and protein, compared with a typical diet it has been shown to help in people with mild hypertension ( less severe than yours) alcohol - as little as possible (Max 1 unit per day for women, that's less than a small glass of wine or is equal to 1 pub measure of spirits) coffee- limit intake exercise - at least 3 hours a week intense enough to make you sweaty and breathless (moderate to intense level)
  16. Am feeling a bit sorry for myself today. Yesterday was my last day of a 4 month rotation with some of the nicest people I've ever worked with. tomorrow I start my next 4 month rotation in obs and gynae which I've not done for over 3 years so I can't remember anything and I really should have done some reading. My sister said to me today that she wants to pay for a personal trainer for me to boost my confidence as she thinks I've lost it over the past year. I guess she's right. My rat Murray has lost a lot of weight the past few weeks and I made an appointment this morning to take him to the vets to be pts tonight. Tonight I've had him on my lap for a cuddle and have put it off until tomorrow so I can spend some time with him tonight. Then there'll just be Fred left who is still very timid and not the cuddling type. I'm also coming down with a cold and have an awful sore throat.
  17. A work colleague has tried laser and says it's brilliant. am contemplating this. I currently get eyebrows waxed every few months and pluck in between, shave legs and under arms and use electric trimmer for bikini line. my sister is trying to persuade me to get bikini line waxed!

    Fennel

Last week I got a fennel bulb in my organic veg box. I remember trying it as a kid and hating it! I'm not a big aniseed fan but am willing to try it again. I'm also trying to loose weight so want to use it for something healthy. So- any suggestions?

    Cracked Pads

http://www.tuffoot.com/about/index.htm charlie our staffie sometimes gets cracked pads. my theory is she will get a little crack or split/cut from something that is hardly noticeable and then over a period of 12-24 hours will constantly lick/chew it so a few hrs later it looks much worse. We buy hydrocortisone cream over the counter at the chemist which calms itching and any inflammation ( it's a very low dose steroid cream) which seems to help. We have started using this stuff recently and her paws seem better.
  20. Why is it always nice on the weekends I have to work and rubbish weather when I don't? I got one of those british heart foundation bags to fill and leave out on the doorstep the other day. Due to be collected Monday. Today I have one of those leaflets from a collection company who are not a charity and say they provide clothes etc to third world countries that people can afford so I'm assuming they sell them? The leaflet has numerous spelling mistakes including yuor and there is a hotmail email address. The leaflet says this company are providing jobs in the UK for clothes sorters and bag collectors as well as for people in 3rd world countries. Guess what day they are collecting bags of stuff?? Yes MONDAY! I am now a bit loathe to leave my BHF bag out. I may ring them next week and see what they say about what I should do with my bag of stuff.
  21. GPs don't get paid for the amount of tests they do. They do have targets to meet which they get bonuses for which the government introduced to try to improve care. These include things like monitoring diabetic control- getting blood glucose levels as near as normal as they can and to get high blood pressure back to normal with tablets. Both these targets are because it has been shown that doing these reduces complications. High blood pressure puts you at higher risk of stroke, heart disease, eye problems and kidney failure.
