  1. Right. Now we have our week booked in Easter and another booked in October (yes we enjoyed it that much) here is the linky to the website http://www.cottageguide.co.uk/lavenderlodg...folk/index.html The owner is Eileen. Very nice lady. Says she has more damage caused by families with children than those with dogs. She has two retreivers herself apparently. I don't think its as posh as laura g's Rose Cottage - but then with three clumsy dogs in a cottage like that I'd be frightened they'd break something. Also, being a bungalow, no stairs. So dogs slept in bedroom.
  2. Can I get back to you on that. It's my little secret until we get our two week Easter booking confirmed
  3. We stayed in a 3 bedroom Bungalow in Hunstanton, which I found on the internet. It is a Holiday let. Very dog friendly. One of a only a few I found that allowed 3 big dogs (with no extra charge!). Fully enclosed, paved rear garden (good for clearing up doggie-dodo), and very comfortable. Had every thing we needed-included washing machine and tumble drier. Our week (even though it was half term) cost only £350. Obviously it goes up steeply in the summer months. We plan to go again in the Easter Hols.
  4. We have just got back from an absolutley fabulous holiday in Norfolk. John, myself and two of our friends rented a bungalow in Hunstanton that allowed us to take 3 big dogs. It was absolutely fantastic. Walked for miles. It was doggy heaven. Everyone in Hunstanton so dog friendly. Bruno in the Pine Forest at Holkahm Suka in the Dunes at Holkahm Bruno at Hunstanton Bruno and Baxta (our friends Dogue De Bordeaux) at Bradcaster Beach Stone throwing at Holkahm Suka and Baxta paddling at Hunstanton Suka who just loved rolling in the sand. Unfortunately turned a bit ginger by the end of the week. And Baxta Have loads more but don't want to bore you all.
  5. Thanks for your help guys. Maria, thanks for the offer of checking the venue out for me, but I only live in Wanstead so its quite close. The linky to the riding school isn't working for me so I will google that one Doghouse, thanks for the address of the Community Centre in Bushey, I'll check that one out too. Thanks again.
  6. Thanks Maria, The one that is loking hopeful is: Debden Park Community Centre Willingham Road Loughton IG10 2BQ Its hard trying to find a suitable venue. Not many local establishments allow dogs into the halls. Fortunately this one appears to already have an established weekly dog training class using it so hopefully fingers crossed. Our workshops down in Sussex are held in a converted milking shed on a working farm, so we can be really relaxed about dogs peeing up the odd wall etc. Obviously, another thing we will have to try and do is gauge possible uptake for the workshops so your reply has encouraged me a bit
  7. Is anyone familiar with Debden Park Community Centre in Loughton. Dog training classes are currently held there and seems quite promissing.
  8. Thanks Jacquie, Good idea, I will write to some of the rescues in the area to see if they can accomodate us.
  9. I know I am asking a lot here guys As a well known and respected Canine Massage Centre, we are hoping to widen participation and access to our "Introduction to Canine Massage" and "Pre and Post Event Massage" workshops, and as such are looking for a suitable venue in the Essex or Herts area that we could hire. Ideally the venue would already be doing something animal related (such as a farm building, agility school, boarding kennels or even riding stables etc). The venue would need to hold at least 8 participants (and their dogs of course) plus two tutors and have electricity (for power point presentations and coffee of course). Tables and chairs would be good too (told you I was asking for a lot). The workshops are usually held on a Saturday, every couple of months or so. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas, could you let me know.
  10. If any of you are going to Paws-In The-Park next weekend, check out the Galen Therapy Stand. Julia Roberts from Galen will be doing Muscular Balance Assessments. Unfortunatly, although 70% of the dogs body weight is made up of muscle tissue, many vets tend to forget that dogs have muscle too. Old soft tissue injuries sustained months and sometimes years before can, over time, start to have a detremental effect on your dogs body. Just like humans, muscular adhesions, spasms, knots, trigger points and scar tissue may all cause discomfort and pain. However, unlike humans, dogs dont gripe or moan, instead they get on with life, but slightly alter their gait (the way they walk). If the pain is originating in for example, a left rear leg, they will shift weight diagonally forward onto their right front leg. This puts extra pressure and strain on the muscles and joints in the pelvic region, along the back, in the shoulders and down the leg taking the strain from this compensatory weight shift. All these muscles are being asked work and to function in a way they were not anatomically built to do. (just like we feel if we have done anything strenuous that we don't usually do like digging the garden - remember how your back felt after a weekend of digging!) This deferred weight and change of gait can start to effect the dogs joints too. Although the dogs joints are skeletal, the thing that stabalises and holds all these joints together is soft tissus - muscles, ligaments and tendons. If a muscle that stabalises or crosses a joint becomes tight, that joint is unable to function properly. Joint health often depends upon the joints ability to function properly with full range of motion. Hope all this makes sense. If I haven't explained this very well or if you want some more info, feel free to PM me.

  17. Canine Myotherpists treat conditions involving the soft tissues - muscle, fascia ligaments, tendons etc. The conditions we treat range from Osteoarthritis, muscular sprains, strains and muscular tears, old muscle injuries that have resulted in adhesions, knots, scar tissue etc, Hip Dysplasia, OCD. We do a lot of work with agility dogs as these are the equivalent of human atheletes and most suffer from some sort of muscular injury. We also work with vets in the post operative recovery of dogs who have had either limb amputations, cruciate ligament repair, fratures etc.
