  5. You had rain?! I wish we did, it was so hot at Drax - I got sunburnt, I look like a tomato! *blush*
  6. Yey! At last, little Jetly Stumps got her 3000points award today (tears of joy!) I'm so pleased with her, she ran every leg today in multibreed, and was a little star! Congrats for everyone's flyball brags so far!!
  7. Jet has an adjustable harness, lead and collar from Lupine (in Tickled Pink), http://www.lupinepet.com/dog/med_dog.php The good thing is that if it gets damaged (including being chewed) they will replace it free of charge. I was sceptical about this at first, but have since tried it and they did as promised; my friend has replaced one harness three times now! She also has one from Rogz: http://www.hyperdrug.co.uk/prodinfo.asp?number=ROGZBBR This one was particularly good as you can lock the buckles - she bounces around so much on the line that sometimes the other harness would come undone. I hope you find something that you like. I've never had a problem with the above rubbing, but I know people who have. A lot of my friends recommend the fleecey Dog Games ones too.
  8. Anyone at Portway tomorrow?
  9. This might be a bit late, but Jet did her first KC show in October and managed a 3rd in 1-3 . I was so pleased with her!
  10. Jet has her flyball dog and intermediate (chop chop graduate please soon Jetly!), Poppy has her flyball dog. Wow, Charlie certainly has a lot! Edited to here - gooster
  11. Well Done both of you, that is fantastic!
  12. Yes, it's fantastic, I'm really enjoying the course! Nichol seems really nice, although you should ask her how we met...ermm...she fell asleep in one of the lectures and had it announced to the whole lecture theatre by the lecturer. I will ask her about that one, hopefully going to visit her and little Miko - getting doggy withdrawal symptoms.
  13. Wasn't sure where to put this, but it's kind of a flyball brag! I met one of your team mates today Kimba's Mum and Gooster! Nichol, she's doing Vet Science like me at uni and we ended up in the same lecture. I was so pleased to have found another flyballer!
  14. Weather forecast: http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=2837 Don't quite like the sound of those thundery showers on Sunday, eeeep!
  15. We have two teams in! Jet's team is third seed in div.8, and our first team are top seed in div.2, no Poppy though as she's still pretty badly injured Poor big Pops.

Jet did her first competition on the 17th and got a 4th in jumping I'm such a proud dog mum!
  17. Hello! I'm 18 now, and I've been a member of the YKC for 3 years now. I first joined because I needed to be a member to take part in various agility and flyball competitions. I think the camp is for children upto the age of 16, so I just missed out on it as I was busy for the first year. I know a couple of people who have been to YKC camp and they seem to have had a brilliant time, trying out lots of new activities with their dogs like agility, obedience, handling, flyball and things like the good citizen test. The girl I know who has been for a couple of years now seems to make more friends everytime she goes - everyone has a universal interest when you go she said. I remember asking her if anyone was snobbish about what dogs they had, and she said definitely not there were mainly crossbreeds going to camp with their handlers. They seem to do everything there, wish I was under 16 again! The girl who organises what is going to go on at camp, what groups people are in and what activities they try on each day used to teach Jet in a fun obedience class. She really put a lot of work into planning it and making it fun, she's a really nice person and all of the senior YKC members I have met have been lovely too. They offer quite a few other opportunities too, they send out a magazine every few months and the membership is definitely value for money. Around February time they send you a free season ticket to Crufts which can be upwards of £40 to buy, whereas you only pay £10 membership (might be £12?) It might be worth looking at For over 16s, they have an outwardbound course as well - I've never had the chance to go on that either though. Hope this helps Katie
  18. Jet's starter team got an incredible time of 18.65s!! I'm dead proud of her, and to say she was very busy the day before.
  19. Awwh these pictures are gorgeous, thanks for posting my two. If you ever want anyone to take any of yours, I'd be happy to do it for you!
  20. Wow That is fantastic! I bet you are soooo proud!
  21. I don't know if this helps, but we had a huge problem with one of our lurchers in the heat. As you say the coats are expensive, especially for bigger dogs. I bought some reflective material and made one myself - it was much cheaper and really good . I have also seen people buy those car reflective sheets and make them into coats. If it's just for a walk, fitting is the most important thing.
