  1. I got a new dog, he is a collie X whippet, about 12 months old. very friendly happy chap just lacking a bit of basic training (recall - what recall!!!) but fab in every other way. I got him just over a week ago and he has settled in great with the others. Hopefully he is going to be my next flyball dog to play with!!! Forgot to say - he is called Roi!!!
  2. I might take you up on that, although I am only just getting my confidence back with jumping so he will have to be super safe for me to try it!!! I'll give you a bell when I know what days we are racing so I know when we can tire the dogs out - and you will get to meet my new dog!!!
  3. I've not been posting much recently but I have been keeping up with all your exploits (or trying to!!!) Sounds like everyone is very busy with their horses at the moment. Really pleased Kane is back on form Jacky, I'm over in Anglesey Monday - Friday next week so I will give you a shout and see if you fancy a dog walk some time (and Kane snog if possible!!!) Rolo is looking gorgeous, he moves beautifully (even when spooking!!!) but is so incredibly wide I can see why you have problems sitting on him. Loki is also looking really well Claire, at least you got something from you lesson and know what to work on. Glad everyone having lessons is getting on well and hope you get another lesson in EAD. It has been all go with me and my 2 recently, I have sat on Will a few times now and surprise, surprise, he wasn't really bothered about that idea at all, a few bucks and leaps the first time I sat on him, and nothing since, I hacked him out a couple of times with a friend and he was doing really well. He then got a random case of swollen legs (after being in a new field for a couple of days), which went down again pretty quickly, but to be safe I have turned him away again for a couple of months and will get him back in again in September ish and start to teach him about contacts and going properly etc. Apple has been going great recently, schooling very nicely and generally very happy in himself, which is great timing cos we have got the dressage regional finals on Sunday at novice and elementary so he will need to be on form to hopefully shine there and qualify us through to the nationals I took him to a farm ride near us on Saturday and he was really good - I've not taken him there before because he always used to be a nightmare - pulling, leaping and generally being pretty dangerous - but I got convinced to take him and he was fab, pretty strong, but mostly controllable, we only had 1 realy brake failure so not bad for him. Jumped loads of jumps and had a really good gallop for about 15 minutes in the middle. I was really impressed with the ride and will defo be going there a lot, it is exactly what Apple needs a lot of the time just to get the tickle out of his feet so he can concentrate on the dressage.
  4. Too right we do, sorry you are having to retire them but we will make the champs a fab weekend and I'm sure the boys will run you proud as ever.
  5. My little pointer Jasper used to get horrendous colitis due to allergies to pretty much everything!!! Because of this I put all of mine onto a raw diet that includes lots of bones. Since he has been on the raw diet with the bones he has not had a single bout of colitis (touch wood!!) and the bones tend to firm him up if anything so tend to have the opposite effect than colitis. Hope this helps a bit. K
  6. Here are a few of Maddie my Saluki - taken by Richard the Sane

    Doggie Pj's

I'll see if I can dig out the pics of mine in their fleece jumpers - they are a doG send when camping at Easter (especially when easter is as early as it was this year!!!) Mine all love them and queue up to have them put on whenever they see me move them!!!
  8. Thinking about it rubber matting would be a fab investment with Blue, would probs make life a lot easier, would still need to do full much out each day in order to find his hidden poo's, but would only need half as much bed so should be a lot quicker and cleaner. You could use it with Easibed or shavings, whichever you can get cheaper.

And I get the jumpers from equafleece on the internet
  10. Given how messy Blue is I reckon you might be best off with straw, he will probably still trash his bed whichever type of bedding you use - and all the others tend to be a lot more expensive than straw. Easibed is pretty similar to shavings from what I have heard, but a bit more absorbant. Hope all is going well at the new yard and that he has settled in ok. See you at the weekend K
  11. The quick answer to that question is - YES!!! But that is fab news - I'm really pleased you are doing another one - it was a fab venue and a fantastic show - we will defo be there and I will be getting my orders in for more BBQ food again. See you soon K
  12. I might have to do that - I'm meeting another lurcher next week so if that one doesn't work out I might have to speak to them about him
  13. Yep, all the time!!! I really hope he finds the perfect home soon, he looks fantastic and could be perfect for me and my lot, especially if he likes balls and toys, he could make a perfect flyball dog. I might have to look at my diary and work out if I can do a day out to Essex as some point!!!
  14. Congratulations to all the weight loosing Fugees. I have now lost 2st and have another 8lbs ish to lose, I lsot the first 1st 6lbs by eating better and exercising more, then stopped losing, gained a bit back and lost heart. My sister suggested I tried a diet called Lipotrim that is controlled by the local pharmacist (sounds a bit like the Cambridge Diet thingy) and in 3 weeks I have lost 1st and am still going strong.
  15. He is absolutely gorgeous , and exactly what I'm looking for, but I suspect I am a bit too far away to go and do a meet and greet with my other 3 dogs, would be a very long day for them. I really hope someone snaps this lad up soon or I may be tempted to do the 9 hour round trip for a visit!!!
  16. Thank you, will have a nosy later at that one, I think my lot might want new collars!!!
  17. What is the link for that website? That is a lovely collar Woobert

    All Change

That's great news, we should see you around lots now cos we always see the Fylde lot of loonies!!! They seem like a lovely bunch of people so I hope you will all be happy there. See you at our show next week. K and the gang
  19. Kimba has got his Gold award
  20. Well done Emma and Elliot At training on Wednesday night Maddie took the ball out of the box for the first time ever, she was totally unfazed by the noise and was really enjoying herself, I think telling her that the only way to win Murphy Whippets heart was to do flyball might actually have worked!!!
  21. Everything crossed for you and Dolly this afternoon

    Bmi

I have to agree, I'm 5'4" and weigh about 10st 7lb, which apparently still puts me in the overweight category, but I wear a size 10 and get told that I am slim and don't need to lose weight, I am physically very strong and pretty well muscled so I just put it down to that - still makes me feel crap though - I have recently lost 2 stone and they still call me overweight - a real slap in the face for all the hard work to lose the weight.
  23. I doubt I could have done much - I can do it with Apple - not really tried much with anyone else!!! Although that will all be changing soon - Will had his wolf teeth out last week so will be starting to do more with him with an aim to getting on him in the next few weeks - could be interesting!!! I went to a show yesterday, first time I've been to a show with Apple for years - I have avoided them cos he is a plank on grass with other horses around - but I wanted to take Will for an outing so chucked Apple on as well. We had a fantastic day, I took Will in the Youngstock class in hand and he came 3rd out of 6, the judge said he would have come higher but he is covered in cuts and scars from rough play fighting with the others!!! Then I took the plunge and took Apple in a couple of jumping classes - this is a massive deal for me cos I have some issues with jumping him - especially on grass - he was a superstar, strong and a bit silly but nothing compared to what he can be like. It has really helped my confidence with him so hopefully I will be able to do more jumping with him in the near future cis he loves it.
  24. I'm really proud of Maddie my Saluki girl, after 2 long years of trying she finally took part in her first starter tournament on Sunday, I was only aiming to do run backs with her in the warm ups but she was so good that I did a few runs with her in warm up and even a couple on competition, she didn't put a paw wrong and seemed to really enjoy herself . It might not seem like much to a lot of people, but I never thought she would want to do flyball or that I could convince her to take part, but hopefully this is the first step to her becoming the first Saluki to do open flyball
  25. Thank you everybody, had a bit of a manic day yesterday, running round setting up for our flyball show this weekend!!! But I did get to go round to my Mum's house afterwards and eat loads of home made chinese food Will be celebrating my birthday properly over the next few weeks cos my Dad is away at the moment so we will do the family meal when he gets back
