  1. cheers Jacqui, I have found someone in Dursley, where Bridie could possibly do a bit of one to one training , but then the Teckels ones would be great for her
  2. Just wondering if anybody could reccomend any training classes in the Gloucestershire area. Bridie our nine month old would really benefit from some classes and it would be good for us to spend some time bonding with her away from the other dogs.

  6. Rusty is a lot better today. He has had some food (even managing some boring ole dog food!) he has had a little walk with his dad. We have had some more tail wagging activity and even a little bit of eye twinkling. After all that though, he is now snoozing like any self respecting old boy should! Thank you all so very very much for your kind words and support, it has meant the world to me, and helped me through this tough time
  7. Sending lots of hugs for you and healing thoughts for your boy Spike xxx
  8. Thank you , we have now had several tail wags, my old boy seems to be coming back slowly but surely.
  9. Sweet dreams Meg for your family and friends x
  10. We have had a tail wag and even a walk to the end of the road! hopefully our boy can go from strength to strength now.

  12. mmm he doesnt really lean to one side, perhaps a little but not really noticeably. I will ask about the Vivitonin thank you both so much
  13. Thank you ladies, it is so helpful to hear your stories and know Rusty is in your thoughts. I asked the vet yesterday about changing from metacam and he recommended previcox, but if they dont work Im definitely going to ask him about rimadyl, its got to be worth a try and its brilliant to hear of dogs that have done so well on it. His appetite seems to be improving he has just shared my sandwich with me and eaten 6 slices of roast beef. Thank you so much for the tuna cake recipe... I think it will definitely appeal to him I really wish we hadnt replaced our carpets with hard floors now, I think we might have to invest in lots more rugs. I wondered if he had had a stroke Kathy, as is it is all so sudden, and he looked really vacant afterwards. But the vet didnt mention it, and gave him a really thorough check over thanks once again for you kind words Caroline and Rusty
  14. Rusty is much the same today, no worse though which is good. He is pottering about fairly well, struggling to get up when he's been lying down though. He insists on lying on the hard wooden floor, even though there are rugs, dog beds and cushions everwhere I can give him his first dose of previcox at ten 'o' clock, but am a bit nervous that his daily metacam dose will now be stopped. Ive read that previcox can take a few days to work too He's had his morning antibiotic tablet which should be starting to kick in soon hopefully. The vet says that an infection (of the joints I think he said) is a long shot, but worth a try. He still seems really fed up though, no light in his eyes The only think Ive managed to get him to eat today have been some dog treats (markies and crackerjacks) he has had a drink though. His dad has just gone to the supermarket to get him some more 'nice' food. Ive got a towelling coat on him to keep him warm.... but Im really at a loss of ways to make him more comfortable and happy
  15. how lovely to hear may she go from strength to strength
  16. Ooh thank you for that it is lovely to hear that your boy is doing so well on it, small bursts of running at 13 cant be bad -wow! Rusty starts on it tomorrow, Im feeling quite positive now. x
  17. OOh that sounds promising. Im glad your girl feels better now
  18. how have you found it? Rusty has been on metacam for over a year now, maybe a change will make a difference
  19. Just read this, it is lovely to hear that Yena is feeling a bit better
  20. Thank you all for your fantastic suggestions and kind thoughts. Rusty is still not very happy, but he is a lot more alert. He has been to the loo now, so will hopefully feel a bit more comfortable. He has eaten some chicken and I will try the other recommendations tomorrow (the recipe for tuna cake would be great ) Ive asked the vet about changing from metacam and he has given me some previcox, has anyone any experience of this medication? Thank you for the very kind offer of reiki, his photo is here
  21. thank you all for your very kind thoughts. Ive asked if the vet can ring when he is free, and I will mention rimadyl and the tonics to him. I just feel like I should be doing more to help and I dont know what to do He has eaten a bit of Chappie, but seems to be finding it difficult to eat, but I dont know why? He is asking to go in the garden but then we go out there he wants to come back in we have both managed a bit of sleep this morning :-) I dont know if he wants cuddles or to be left alone for a bit. If like the vet says he may be, just simply worn out, would lots of sleep not make him better? Has anyone had a dog that wasnt actually poorly but just gave up. I am probably being really dim here, but I didnt realise dogs could die that way Could anyone recommend any tempting treats that I could buy from the shop to help his appetite? they have to be soft! Thank you for reading and for being here
  22. Thank you all so very much I hope Henry is soon back to his usual self I will ask the vet about rimadyl and look into the tonics too Rusty is stil much the same, I think he may need to go to the loo as he is very unsettled and circling, he's managed a few wee's I just got a nose nudge which brought a tear to my eye. I usually get lots of nose nudges when Im on the computer, but this was the first since yesterday.... just holding out for a tail wag now
  23. thank you, it makes the world of difference to know that Im not alone in this Im hoping he can bounce back, but I dont want him to push on for us. If he's ready to go then I cant keep him here. Its so so hard thought isnt it, Ive been preparing myself for this for years (or so I thought) Im spoon feeding him this morning, but so far, he (and me) have not had more than half an hours sleep. I think a rest would do him good, but he wont settle. Will he be able to sense my sadness, he seems reluctant to sleep.
