  1. Sadly sassy is only staying on foster now she is looking for a long term foster home for whatever time she has left. My dog has decided to take a disliking to her so in the long run its best for her. She hsnt been a bit of bother though, Joey just hasnt been the same since i lost my old girl
  2. Please meet Sassy I went to collect this girl yesterday, she is about 14 yrs old. I didnt plan on adding anymore dogs after losing 5 in just 2 years, Mitzi being the last one to leave for the bridge 2 months ago, but im a sucker for the oldies and when i heard about Sassy i always knew she would end up here. I thought id bring her and just see how she gets on with Joey and if she settles in, then put her up for rehoming. I felt sorry for Joey being on his own but he is used to fosters coming and going and he isnt overly inpressed with them. but he hit it off with her straight away, he rarely bothers playing with foster dogs anymore but sassy had him playing with her within 10 seconds of meeting! She has only been here an hour and i cant see her leaving now She had the same affect Kizzy did when she came to me as a foster and i failed within 24 hours! So she is now my 'long term foster'. Anyway, please meet the lovely Sassy Meeting Joey Play with me!
  3. wow that puts mine to shame they ae both fab

  5. That is absolutely perfect!!! i love it!! thank you so much im going to print it off and take it in tomorrow
  6. Im no too sure on colours, maybe the main wording in black, with light purple/pinks going through it, but not too fussed really, i want it quite light though and girly, maybe hearts/stars in it on the ends of the lettering as it curls off I can see it in my head i just cant explain it
  7. Im going for another tattoo soon, its going on the inside of my wrist but nothing big or too OTT. I picked my last one off the wall but this one is more personal and Ive got in my head what i want, but its hard to explain and i cant draw writing very well, can anyone help? I want the word 'Mum' but really fancy, in a script type writing, but not plain block writing, i want some colours going through it, and on the ends of the letters i want some little hearts or something coming off it. Are there any arty people on here who can help draw it so i can give them an idea of what i want? Ive tried looking through alkinds of sites on google but i cant find any examples that are close to what i want
  8. DEX HAS BEEN LOOKING FOR A HOME SINCE DECEMBER LAST YEAR WITH NOT ONE SINGLE ENQUIRY! This is the lovely Dex, he is a 7 yr old male boxer who is looking for a new home with no young kids or cats. Although he has lived with other dogs he seems to favour being on his own as he can be dominant towards them. He loves people and being the centre of attention but will need a firm hand and patience while settling in. Dex is a typical bouncy boxer who loves his walks and his toys, he would love a home with someone around for most of the day, although he is fine being left for a few hours. He would be best with no kids or older ones (over 12 yrs) Dex has lived with 2 other boxer for the past year so it is possible he can live with the right dog. If you would like to offer dex a home please read the rehoming policies before applying to adopt http://boxerrescueliverpool.webs.com/applytoadopt.htm
  9. Molly came to us a couple of weeks ago as her owners daughter became pregnant and she would of been put to sleep otherwise Molly is a timid girl and will growl at unknown people, although she has never bitten! she is wary untill she gets to know you then is absolutely fine, she has met alot of new people now that she is in a foster home and she is really imrpoving so much, she has also been good with children. We were told molly was not good with other dogs, but she has met a couple and didnt show any aggression, she crawled over to them on her belly then rolled over! Molly will need some patience to settle in and plenty of socialisation, she wasnt in the greatest of health when she arrived either, having a phantom pregnancy and being generally run down. She is doing well now though and is booked in to be spayed soon. Molly is being fostered in Doncaster. If you would like to offer her a home, please read the rehoming policies before applying to adopt. http://boxerrescueliverpool.webs.com/applytoadopt.htm
  10. Hi All its been quite a while since ive been on here and so much has happened in such a short space of time, mainly sad endings but im glad to have been able to share my home with some lovely boxer babes After having a house full of loonies, me and Joey are a twosome again In the last 2 years 5 of my babies have gone to the bridge The first was Chance, he left for the bridge on the 10th September 2008 Grandad Ben was 12 yrs old and went to the bridge just 10 days later on the 22nd September 2008 Then there was Kizzy, the clown of the bunch, not a day went by when she didnt make me laugh, she was a batty old girl but the most placid kind hearted dog i have ever met. I still miss her like mad, i will never ever find another dog like this girl. Kizzy had cancer in her mouth and sadly left for the bridge on 11th June 2009 aged nearly 16 Baby tinkerbelle came in with Kidney Failure, she was only 9 weeks old when she was handed in as she wasnt growing properly so she stayed with me, shortly after she was diagnised with very bad kidney failure and left for the bridge on 27th January this year aged just 4 months old And Sadly Mitzi, my old girl and my first rescue boxer. She left for the bridge last month aged 12 after collapsing at my birthday party, the vet suspected it was an internal tumour so i let her go, she was one in a million and i still cant belive she is gone now, Joey is still lost and it feels so weird being a 1 dog household after so many years. Mitzi went to the bridge on the 9th May 2010 and last but not least, my Boy Joey now, almost 8 yrs old! i have no idea how that happened, hes still my baby and my soul dog

hello ive not been on the forum for what feels like years! hope to be on here alot more now ive found you again
  12. A few onths ago i was told about a 3 yr old rottie boy, he was owned by someone a friend knows down in nottingham. He was given various rescue details and alot of rottie rescues to try, one rottie rescue gave him details of a family who were supposedly suitable, although he wasnt rehomed with the backup from the rescue. The dog was found straying a couple of weeks ago and has now ended up in the pound and wasnt claimed. He is due to be PTS so ive said i will take him here, so he will be coming to mine on thursday (hes in nottingham at the moment) Obviously working for boxer rescue we only get people coming to us for boxers, not rotties so will be near impossible to find a home through us and will be better off with an all breed rescue or breed specific. He is a nice dog, been brought up with 3 kids (5-16), neutered, docked, he has basic training and gets on with other dogs off-lead, although he does grumble at other dogs on-lead - not too badly though. He gets on really well with Milly (friends boxer), she keeps him in check! He is up to date with his jabs. The first owners had him since he was 9 weeks old and he is still like a puppy now.
  13. Im over the wirral alot so will keep my eyes peeled, will also let the b/f know as he lives over there as do all his family
  14. Annie is a 6 yr old female boxer She is looking for a new home as her owners are moving house and are unable to take the dogs with them. Annie is a sweet natured girl who has lived with another dog (JRT) so can happily be homed with another dog for company. She is good with people of all ages but best homed with children over 5 years old due to her bouncy nature. Annie CANNOT be homed with cats or small animals. She is spayed and chipped if you can offer her a home, please read the rehoming policies before applying to adopt http://www.boxerdogrescue.co.uk/applytoadopt.htm
  15. Chester is a 4 yr old brindle male boxer and Devon is a 4 yr old female white boxer. Chester and Devon need a home together and cannot be parted. Devon is good with other dogs, but chester is not, he suffers from fear aggression due to being attacked by other dogs (its not his fault hes just scared and tries to get them before they can get him). Devon is a lovely affectionate dog who enjoys sniffing every blade of grass, she also likes to pull the ''im deaf'' card when she is sniffing the grass and will ignore everyone (she isnt deaf at all). She did have a broken leg and dislocated knee as a 6wk old puppy so if she has been dashing about or laying on a hard surface for a long time she can limp some, it is possible that she will have some arthritis in this leg. Chester is very loving and affectionate, he responds better to men or someone with a firm voice. Chester has a fondness for apples! But he can sometimes be prone to a sensitive stomach, so it will be best to keep them both on a bland diet - chappie is suitable for this. They are both ok to be left for a few hours a day (no longer than 4) and are crate trained too. They are both fine with cats and ok with kids. They are neutered/vaccinated/chipped. If you can offer these 2 lovely dogs a home together, please read the rehoming policies before applying to adopt. http://www.boxerdogrescue.co.uk/applytoadopt.htm Chester Devon
  16. Cleo is a 3 yr old red female boxer. Cleo is looking for a new home as she unfortunately doesnt get along with the other bitch in the house. Cleo is a typical boxer girl. She doesnt like to be left alone and can open doors, she can also jump high fencing, shes a bit of an escape artist! she also needs alot of work on her recall so cannot be let offlead till this is sorted. Cleos one love is the hose pipe! She loves to chase the water and can play this game for hours! She also loves to play football. Cleo is fine with kids as her owner was a childminder so had plenty of young children coming in and out, she has not lived with cats or small animals. Cleo needs a home with someone around all/most of the day as she has been known to chew/mess in the house when left alone. She is vacc'd, chipped & spayed If you are interested in Cleo, please read the rehoming policies before applying to adopt. http://www.boxerdogrescue.co.uk/applytoadopt.htm
  17. Sasha is an 11 year old red female boxer. She is looking for a new home as her owners are working abroad for varying periods and this means that sasha is often put in kennels for long periods of time which she does not enjoy and it is not fair on her. Sasha is a wonderful dog, housetrained, good in the house, excellent with children (younges she has lived with are 1 and 3). Sasha has always been a bouncy and energetic dog, very loving and affectionate. She would sit on top of you to watch telly if she was allowed. Sasha is currently on incurin for incontinence, she usually takes one or two tablets a day for this and it has stopped her 'leaking' problem. She also suffers from seasonal alopecia which has caused a bald patch on each of her sides. this needs no treatment and causes her no problems (apart from being a bit bald!) She is good with other dogs and cats. She has lived her whole life with a cat, sometimes they have been known to nuzzle each other but also have been known to bicker. She loves balls and retrives them well but never hands them back without a fight !! Loves sticks, logs etc for chewing and carrying. Sasha is not destructive in the house, she will however rumage in a bin that isn't secured close. She also has a problem with the postman coming and will bark and jump like mad when he comes to put letters through 'her' door. She dislikes high visability jackets for some reason, hence the postman scenario. If she was to be regularly walked off the lead she would require some recall training but thats about all I think. Sasha is fully vaccinated, Spayed and Microchipped If you can offer her a home, please read the rehoming policies before applying to adopt. She is currently being fostered in Blackpool http://www.boxerdogrescue.co.uk/applytoadopt.htm
  18. Gemma is a 4 yr old red boxer girl. She was handed to BDRNE as her owner no longer had time for her. (and unfortunately came into season when she arrived). Gemma needs a home with no other dogs as she can be very dominant with them, also, no cats and older children only. She is a lovely playfull girl, but can be a bit protective of her home and will bark alot at people coming to visit, she soon settles down once she is used to them being in the house. Gemma is currently in kennels in ormskirk. She is vaccinated and chipped and is now ready to be spayed so will be done in the next week If you are interested in offering her a home please read the rehoming policies before applying to adopt http://www.boxerdogrescue.co.uk/applytoadopt.htm
  19. Benson has just turned 9 years old. PLEASE DO NOT BE PUT OFF BY HIS AGE!!! Older boxers deserve a home too!! He was handed over to BDRNE as the owners child was scared of him. he is a big strong bouncy boy and certainly doesnt act 9 years old, he has the energy and strength of a young boxer. He is a dream in the house, doesnt chew or mess and can happily be left for a couple of hours. He will happily snooze most of the day, or play with his toys. Benson's only problem is he pulls like a train onlead and never does as he is told, it seems to go in one ear and out the other, but he will do anything for squeaky toys so by training him this way should help. He is being taught to walk on a halti by his foster mum and this is helping. He does need to learn some manners when it comes to doing as he is told, but with persistance and patience he will be the perfect family pet. He can be prone to a sensitive stomach, but is now on a diet of Chappie with no problems at all. Benson recently had an eye ulser, but this has now been treated and it cleared up well. He is great with kids, but probably too bouncy for young/small children. He is good with other dogs after carefull introductions. He is castrated, vaccinated and microchipped. Benson is Being fostered in Widnes, if you can offer him a home, please read the rehoming policies before applying to adopt. http://www.boxerdogrescue.co.uk/applytoadopt.htm
  20. We were contacted in September 2007 about a lovely old man, 12 years old and being rehomed at his age Grandad Ben His mum and dad had moved house, leaving ben with their neighbour. the neighbour was working all day every day and ben was left home alone Les kindly offered to drive up to Blackpool to pick ben up and bring him to mine on Foster. When he arrived he was SO confused and just wanted to go home I still remember the first time he came over for a fuss, i was sat at the PC and he came over to me, stared into my eyes and gave me his paw and i burst our crying I think from then on i knew noone would be good enough and he probably wouldnt be going anywere, they would of had to be extra special to get this lad from my claws! We had a few enquiries (including most of BDRNE :lol ) but i kept saying no, even thought most of them were great homes! In the end i just had to give in and realise that there was no way he was going anywere. He was so confused when he arrived, it took him quite some time to settle in and be comfortable with our routine, But he settled and he was happy, there was no way i was putting him through that again at his age. Ben was a lovable old Gent, he was as stubborn as an ass, but take him to a field/park/beach and he was like a 12 month old puppy again. Turkey on Toast - Xmas 2007 Enjoying his favourite treat EVER - Yoghurt! In August 2008 ben started showing his age. he was slowing down alot. His back legs were getting weak, he was almost completely deaf and had cataracts in both eyes. He also started to develop a cough. The vet thought it may of been his heart, but after having an ECG nothing abnormal showed up. Ben seemed to do ok for a few weeks, but in early September he went downhill again. He went off his food and was constantly sleeping. Ben never improved or recovered this time, i tool him to the vets yet again who basically told me if just have to face the fact that he IS getting old, he was then 13 yrs old, i ripe old age for a boxer. But that still didnt make it any easier. I decided to take him home and enjoy the weekend with him, with the vet coming out to the house on the Tuesday (23rd). But on the 22nd September, i got home from work, ben got up from his bed and seemed very unsteady on his feet, i helped him out to the garden as he needed the toilet. He collapsed in the garden and i rushed him to the vet. His gums were white and he seemed in pain. The vet was positive he was bleeding internally, it was likely he had a tumour in his Abdomen which had ruptured. I agree'd to let the vet send him on his way. He was in pain and I was not putting him through anymore for my own sake, as hard as it was to loose him so soon after Chance i knew it was what was best for him, to keep him here would be cruel and for my benefit only. He had had enough. I will never EVER forget that day and would NEVER wish anyone to go through what i did. Ben left for the Bridge on the 22nd September 2008, just 4 days before his first gotcha Day Sleep tight my gorgeous old boy, one in a million who will NEVER be forgotten
  21. Remembered this thread when my nephew came round today. He had an op on Tuesday to fix his teeth, one of his front teeth wont come through, so they had to open his gum up and stick a chain into it, and onto the tooth to help pull it down, dunno how it works, but it does apparantly. i was just interested in seeing the outcome and getting a pic
  22. Benson has been found dont have all the details yet, but his mum text me to say he was back home!
  23. thanx, will pass it on. They have all gone back up the mountain, they have been out for 8 hours looking for him but he is nowere to be seen One person is waiting at home for any calls & the rest are still out looking
  24. Benson is a BDRNE dog, he was rehomed in Nov 2007. he went missing on a walk today, whilst hiking up a mountain he ran off, he usually has perfect recall but today, something has caught his attention and he ran till he was out of sight. He went missing from St Sundays Valley in Patterdale - Cumbria. They were hiking, so this is not a busy place, so it will be hard to sight him. This is an hours drive away from his home so it is unlikely he will find his way back. He doesnt have the best of hearing as when he arrived in rescue, he had an untreated ear condition which resulted in his ear canal being removed. He has been sighted by 1 couple who were walking past, but he was quite far from them (he was still up the mountain) Benson never barks, but the dog they seen was barking alot and seemed distressed so he is obviously trying to find his way home if there is anyone in the area, please keep an eye out. His owners main concern is that he will find his way off the mountain and into a field of sheep. He will chase them and it doesnt bare thinking about what might happen if he does. He is wearing a collar and tag, and is microchipped.
